Good hotel - great staff - some improvement needed
Second visit to Hilton Garden Inn New York.
On the plus side: Location, even if you don´t like Times Square and all activities you are in the middle of NY. You have 42nd station around the corner and you can walk everywhere. The staff is great and helpful. Easy to leave baggage at check-in and check-out. Clean room and good view if you have chosen such a room. Waiting time at elevator is fine. Good beds to sleep in. This hotel is rated 3 star and it actually is that, normally you often have to remove one of the official stars for US hotels when you compare to most European hotels and even more compared to hotels an many countries in Asia.
The down side: Time Square if you don´t like all activities. Long queue at many times for check in, surprised that they have not implemented digital check-in at the reception. Stayed in many hotels outside US and check-in and check-out are all digital without any contact with the reception. The front door of the rooms let´s trough all sounds from the corridor, not uncomment in US hotels, but still surprised that this is more normal than un-normal. ACC is a bit loud and goes on and off instead have a smooth silent flow that many hotels have today (again outside US). The complementary Wi-Fi is very slow and to get "high speed wifi" the cost is hefty. It´s 2021 and not offering free high speed Wi-Fi is un-modern and more a problem with mainly hotel chains in some countries.
Summerize: Have stayed twice - will I stay again? Probably.
