The hotel is about a 10 min walk from Forum Romanum and the Metro station by the same name. Thus, the hotel is close to the ancient heart of Rome, not "down-town". It's a perfect "two-steps" away from the tourist throng (1 metro stop to the Colosseum) and the hotel staff could recommend a few restaurants nearby which turned out to be excellent and genuine with a lot of locals, not just tourists.
We booked a "superior double" (room no 32), and apart from the carpets being pretty worn and stained, the room was excellent for a 3-star hotel. It was fairly spacious, with a desk, a few chairs, a closet, bedside tables and good reading lights. The bathroom was functional, with a good shower. The room even had a small balcony with a table and two chairs facing the courtyard - a very nice bonus! The room was made up and cleaned every day. The free breakfast buffet was perhaps nothing to write home about, but still absolutely adequate, with excellent personal coffee and tea service. The staff was always helpful. All in all, a very nice hotel experience and we'd definitely consider staying there again.
