Hi Maria, Thank you for your honest feedback. The Building is old and some of the rooms are smaller than others and is not much what we can do about that. All our larger rooms are occupied by long stay guests and only smaller private rooms where available during your stay. However, cleaning and keeping the rooms fresh at all time is of paramount importance to us. We will discuss your feedback with our cleaning services provider. Regards Rose and Andy

Thanks. Since taking operation of the hostel couple months ago we are trying our best to improve hostel image and our guests experience.

Hi Anonymous, At the time when you had bad experience we had mandatory yearly checks of the whole fire detection system including individual smoke detectors mounted in the guests rooms. Part of the process was to blown special gas in to detectors and see how do they responds. that's why the fire inspectors need a ladders to reach to the detectors. We have informed and appologise to all our guests about the test being conducted and the timing which unfortunately was very early in the morning. We can appologise again to our anonymous guest for the inconvinience created but, safety of our guests is very important to us and the timing of the checks was dictated by external to us fire safety inspectors and we had no possibility of changing the time. This does not happen every day. This was once a year safety inspection. Regards Coogee Beachside Team
