Labor Day with Family
Location was great! It was across from two houses who are great friends. The only negative is that when our family arrived the house looked like it had not been cleaned. Toilets dirty, floors etc. We ended up cleaning it ourselves unfortunately.

Blueberry Hill - Lakeside
The property met all our expectations. It was in a very convenient location, and was close to many activities. It offered many amenities for all ages. I would highly recommend the Blueberry Hill property for families of all ages.

1st time stay at Lakeside
I was looking forward to my trip & stay @ Lakeside, however upon entering I was informed of fees-fees that were never mentioned by VRBO or the owner. I was completely blindsided by these fees. I was told by Lakeside Association that the owner should have informed me of the fees, he did not. The fees included, entrance fee, daily resort fee, a daily car fee & a preservation fee-for 1 week 4 adults it was over $600 worth of fees that were never mentioned in any of the information. This information should have been mentioned by VRBO & by the owner. The fees had a significant impact on our vacation budget, limiting some of the plans we had made. Furthermore, the house itself is in major need of updating!! The bathrooms both need updated, better lighting. The furniture is old, uncomfortable & if you had more than 5 people-seating was/is an issue. The kitchen, also desperately needs better lighting. Finally, the little touches of soap at the sink, hand towels, additional paper goods: Kleenex, paper towels, toilet paper-were not available. For the money we paid this should have been included.

Fantastic
We had a family vacation and other family were staying in other cottages all around lakeside. The location of this cottage is great for getting to the pool or walking trails. The cottage was clean and had plenty of linens. The owner was great, he lives right next door so responds quickly. It was nice having golf cart too. Going back next year and staying in same cottage.

Great rental
This place is ideal for an older couple who don’t like going upstairs to the bedrooms. The first floor has a master bedroom with a queen bed and two full baths. But if you have a larger family there is plenty of room with two bedrooms up. Very clean and located at the top of a dead end street, so little traffic, yet around the corner from the pool, tennis courts, pickle ball, etc. The owner John lives next door and is very responsive to requests. The use of a golf cart was a real plus. You will enjoy your stay here!

Pros: golf cart with property was amazing. location and community very friendly and charming, great state parks locally and close to ferry for Kelley’s island. Shops in town were great and those that stayed open after Labor Day had great sales. People were friendly, manager of the hotel in town gave us a tour even after it was closed. Cons: major issue with front porch, needs to be torn off or reconstructed. Main entrance cluttered and messy, toys paint cans and garden debris everywhere. Poor lighting in main living area. Older home with charm but could use some easy updates. Carpets stained upstairs, blinds dirty and broken, window ac units dirty and not in all the bedrooms. Yard around the house and back was nothing too grand. Clutter around and looked very messy. Owner responded to messages quick but did not deliver on requests. Oven door was missing and incredibly dangerous for a toddler and infant. We were not warned of this prior to visit. Beds were comfortable but bedding/ pillows were limited. Minimal essentials in the kitchen. Be aware ! Almost everything was closed or shut down after Labor Day. Including restaurants outside gated community. Overall it’s a quaint little house in a great location but for the price of renting it, and gate fees and cleaning fees, it could use a good remodel for safety and updates.

Not a big enough table for all to eat or play games together. Very dissatisfied with oven situation. Couldn’t find fire extinguisher or co 2 detector(s). Did love location and use of golf cart. Plenty of linens and dishes. (Could use more glasses/cups)Kids enjoyed bikes and skateboards. Good tv selection. The presence of the antique table and the carrousel horse was a distraction. This is a rental. We are careful and respectful but shouldn’t have to worry about untouchable items. The family has rented many lakeside places so we knew the expectations of being renters.

Place was nice. 4 th bedroom wasn’t really a bedroom. A little far out from lake & activities.
Nice. Old but relatively clean. Could have used an actual fourth bedroom. Would have like to have been closer to the lake. John was very nice and accommodating.

We enjoyed our stay and John is a friendly host. Our 5 year old enjoyed the Legos and the golf cart
John was very accommodating with our, fortunate, earlier than expected arrival. He let us drop of our bags and use the golf cart to go down to the beach while the cleaner finished cleaning the house. He alsoy let us use peppers and tomatoes from the garden for our salads.

Charming Chatauqua
We love coming to visit the grounds inside Lakeside Chatauqua, and this was such a lovely spot! Quiet and nestled off the main portion of the grid, the golf cart was a huge bonus to get down to the events in the center of town without hiking. Easy access to the pool with day passes, and the scenery is so stunning! Thank you John!

Surprise stay
The property was very nice. It would be a lovely place to stay with young kids. However, the listing was not at all transparent of the fact that Lakeside is a gated community with very expensive additional costs upon arrival. We were charged almost $600 more at the gate which we were not made aware of. The gate fees per person(9) and parking added up to that amount. Also that wasn’t even parking at the property. The listing was misleading regarding parking as well. Again, a lovely place to stay but if we had known the costs ahead of time, we would have planned differently.

Blueberry Hill
Having a golf cart is a plus! There are two new dining areas in Lakesside. One is across the street from the beautiful pool. One day the life guards blew the whistles for break and the adults all lined up for the slide😂it was great! We have learned to never expect perfection on vacation, just enjoy! Thanks John and Kathy for everything!

It is a Lakeside Cottage, and anyone who goes to Lakeside should understand what that means. Older, with some character! The upstairs has 2 bedrooms, but you have to walk through the first to get to the second. (Not too unusual in Lakeside.) Both bathrooms are down stairs. (Not too unusual in Lakeside.) It was great to have the golf cart! Nice quiet spot! I would rent again!

Mold air units and ant infestation
This was our 3rd visit to lake side. We are use to toiletries, dishwasher soap, and trash bags to be there upon arrival but there were none. We had to take time out of our afternoon that day to run to the store for these necessities. The house seemed fine upon arrival but the temperature was going to get to the 90s and he next day so we went to turn on the air units in the windows and they were covered in mold. I asked the owner to remove them as we have a child with a weakened immune system and is allergic to mold. The owner was prompt to remove them but he took them apart in attempt to clean them but the entire inside was covered in black mold-in places you can not clean. The mold is still inside the units. I asked for a discount as we were having to suffer through 2 days of 90 degrees heat and we spent money on fans. But he said a straight no-and threat he was “making it right” by cleaning them. Which was indeed- not a help to us at all as we were not using them and in fact asked him to not install them until we left. He seemed understanding of our son and our situation but when you rent out your property for premium price and advertise that you have air-the air units need to be regularly maintained and in working order. These were not healthy. Even the filters were caked in layers of dust/mold-clearly no filters had been replaced any time soon. That was his responsibility as the owner to have the be done already for anyone. He did not go above and beyond to help us be comfortable. He should have gone and purchased another portable air unit or at least fans-but he did not. The house was also riddled with ants. Ants crawling everywhere. Up our bedrooms walls, all floors, kitchen, and even bath tubs. They were large black ants. And with having a crawling baby-living in this was not easy. Last but not least, we pay on cleaning but the floor was clearly not mopped-It was sticky upon arrival. I mopped since I have a crawling baby and the rag was dark brown immediately. The owner should hire a new cleaning crew as they are clearly cutting corners. I really enjoyed the spot on the hill, near the pool and the blue house is pretty to pull up to but those were the only good things about the stay.

Great house horrible neighborhood fees
The house is great, clean, quiet. We had to pay to get into the neighborhood, which was not expected at booking. For myself, my teen daughter, and my CAR + a processing fee for 4 days was $174.00! This is a separate fee that goes to the neighborhood as you drive in not the home owner. Yes they have a small beach, play ground, and a pool but we didnt have time to use any bc we came for work not play.

Fall Days at Lakeside
John is very welcoming and attentive to any concerns. Having the golf cart is a definite perk since you are at the top of the hill. As "mature folks", we quickly discovered we needed to be especially careful when using the stairs. It is great having 2 bathrooms, but both are downstairs. Gotta be careful when using the stairs to get to the bathroom during the night if you are sleeping upstairs! We found it to be very quiet and restful during our October stay.

Family vacation
I was not aware of the gate fee upon arrival, so I was a bit shocked to have to pay an additional $232 for the week. BUT we were close to the water which was a huge plus. The golf cart was a huge hit with both my kiddos. Jon was super sweet and available when we had some issues with the oven. Overall, we had a successful vacation with a preteen and toddler. Would stay again in the future :)

Comfortable stay
We all enjoyed our stay at Blueberry Hill! Updated kitchen and bathrooms were a plus. Golf cart was so appreciated since we were uphill from the lake. Owner lives next door so it was nice to ask a few questions of the place. Private area at end of street. Can hear some traffic from main road but it did not bother us.

This is our second time staying at the cottage at Lakeside over the last few years. John makes renting easy and is accessible. Pros - you’re in lakeside! - close access to the pool - having a golf cart with the property was awesome! - had all the basics for staying - did the job on spacing and amenities - outdoor picnic table was a bonus - cute place. Feels home-like Cons: - very top of the hill so it’s far from the center of town and you can hear the road outside of Lakeside - has the space for nine people but it’s a little tight - A little older building and it shows. But still provides a nice day - bikes at house weren’t operational - Fire pit and barbecue were underwhelming but can do the job. Bring your own barbecue utensils - would love to see some more outdoor seating available for larger parties Overall this is a good place to stay. We would stay there again. John is a nice guy and lives right next to unit and is accessible

Lakeside is charming, but not always as advertised
With a wife who uses a manual wheelchair I always book a property with that symbol. For the most part this property is accessible once inside the 1st floor. However there are two steps to the porch and the bathrooms are too tight to get a wheelchair into. By pulling the pins on the door to the master bathroom toilet, she could use it without assistance. Otherwise the property is as advertised and the golf cart is a huge plus. The owner responded quickly when we needed something and is easy to work with. I would point out to potential renters a couple of issues that have NO REFLECTION ON THIS PROPERTY: Even though we paid full price to be admitted to Lakeside, the swimming pool had not yet opened as they were still training staff. We were also very much looking forward to fishing from the pier with our grandson's, but it was closed off because of a recent storm. (I still looked solid to us.) Those were big disappointments. East Harbor State Park and friends with a boat in the area saved our vacation.

Great Community
Great vacation home in a gated community. The gold cart allowed us to go downtown quickly for coffee, donuts, ice cream and dinner. We had a great time playing shuffleboard on the many courts that were available. The kids enjoyed the playground as well! The community water park was closed while we were there, not it wasn't a big deal for us. We were able to rent a boat about 15 minutes away, so the kids go their fill of the water on Sandusky Bay. John, the owner was great. We had a small issue the first day, but he came right over and fixed everything quickly. I was a little blindsided by the gate fee. The community charges you per person to enter and as well as a fee to park your car. It ended up being over an extra $100 that I didn't think we were going to spend, but all in all, not a huge deal. You will want to make sure you budget for that. Thanks, John! We hope to be back.

John the owner is a wonderful man I have not a bad thing to say about him the only thing I could say is when we went to check in John was not home which is not a problem but when I checked with his wife she told me that she forgot we were even coming the only thing that I could really recommend is there needs to be a clear-cut planfor checking in and also what do the owners expect when you check out there was no direction given for check in or check out other than the times overall the state was Great and I would definitely stay there again

What a delightful, beautiful community! The golf cart was a definite bonus! (just don't take it outside of the gates of Lakeside). The house was charming, host was delightful and we enjoyed the surrounding communities. This was the perfect COVID getaway. Thank you John, we hope to come back some day!

Peaceful perfection!
We spent two weeks at this charming Lakeside cottage. 2 adults, 5 yo and 2yo. Perfect size for us! The kids loved zooming around town in the golf cart (very necessary due to the hilltop location), and running through the backyard to the 'Train Station' playground. The house has a spacious kitchen, allowing for easy family meals. The screened-in porch + porch swing was our favorite spot for an evening glass of wine. The house certainly has its quirks, as an older home. But chalk it up as 'lake cottage charm'. The house was very clean and move-in ready upon our arrival!
