THE LOCATION: Could this be Lake Superior's North Shore best kept Secret? We are calling ALL Great Lakes Explorers anyway! Save LOTS just by crossing the border into BEAUTIFUL Canada!* It's easy crossing the US/CAN border so leave the skyline and head to THIS SHORELINE. This "Jewel of the North" is right ON Lake Superior's North Shore and beloved by guests who consistently provide 5-star reviews. ALL-SEASONS Cottage is close (but not too close) to Thunder Bay & approximately 1 hour North of Grand Marais, Minnesota. Open concept design is updated & sparkling clean with a propane-fueled fireplace & new hot hub. The Cottage is one-level living, which is appreciated by everyone especially those with physical limitations. Private w/out feeling isolated. A close escape for those living in or near Thunder Bay & beckons to Americans who have not (yet) ventured past Grand Marais. INCREDIBLE VIEWS & the hiking trails are right out the door. Located in a safe, secluded, peaceful environment surrounded by nature's amazing canvas.
*Save LOTS with lower nightly rates and 25-35% (based on US-CDN exchange) on food, adventures - everything! So what are you waiting for?

LAKE SUPERIOR: This is Lake Superior SHORELINE property, which means not only are the VIEWS of Lake Superior fantastic - it is LITERALLY in the front yard. Know the difference because nothing, NOTHING compares to being "ON" THE LAKE and hearing the powerful waves hit the shoreline. No roads or paths intersect The Cottage from Lake Superior. The house is situated on 2 acres perched overlooking Lake Superior's shoreline, which provides second-to-none views of the surrounding islands.

THE LAND: On 2 acres The Cottage feels very private without feeling completely isolated. Guests love opening a window to hear Lake Superior's powerful waves crashing along the shoreline or being lulled to sleep while its laughing water plays along the coast. If you have never heard this magical sound, there has absolutely never been a better time to experience it.

OUTDOOR FEATURES: Multi-level decks overlook Lake Superior. A new hot tub/spa with hydrotherapy jets, colored lights & bluetooth connectivity (music) is available year-round for guests to enjoy. Shower yourself under the stars and nature's fireworks (Northern Lights) on clear nights. The outdoor lounge areas host comfortable seating and a propane-fueled fire table provides warmth via heat & heart. The perfect place to enjoy the moonlit sky and a gazillion stars! A Weber propane-fueled grill is located on the top deck ready for your next BBQ.

OUTDOOR FIRE PIT: Is the North Shore experience complete with toasted marshmallows over a lakeside campfire? It is your decision...but just in case a meandering path beckons guests to the shoreline’s wood-burning fire pit, which happens to be the most perfect place to build that campfire and memories sure to last a lifetime. 🙂

LOWER DECK: The lower deck literally hangs over Lake Superior while its water laps below. This amazing space provides panoramic, SUPERIOR views. Loons are abundant here and often pass by and warble out to say "hello".

THE COTTAGE: Is sparkling clean, completely updated and hosts an open-concept design with vaulted ceilings, large windows and great lighting, which provides an open, spacious feel. The main living 7 dining areas overlook the GREATEST lake in the world! Guests will appreciate the sectional sofa, which morphs into a large, plush lounge. The perfect place to gaze at a full moon crawling across the sky or count one million stars. High quality, HIGH SPEED unlimited satellite Internet ensures the large Samsung "smart" television works flawlessly with all the channels (including U.S. & International) + FREE Netflix/Amazon/AppleTV. A BOSE sound bar elevates the entertainment experience and allows guests to listen & enjoy their own music via bluetooth. There is also an old-fashioned ;) DVD player w/lots of movies of all genres. Water, courtesy of Lake Superior, is filtered w/UV lights making is potable (drinkable). The Cottage provides guests a consistently sparkling clean accommodation and positive "home away from home" experience.

THE KITCHEN: Is updated and fully equipped. This is a kitchen that "cooks" with plenty of cook and bakeware, dishes, table settings and REAL knives. Napkins, paper towels and dish soap are provided along with a variety of spices.

BEDROOMS: Two private bedrooms host comfortable beds, quality linens, large closets, dressers and flat screen televisions. Beds are appointed with an "under blanket" in cooler months, which provides gentle heat at the foot of the bed. This is an unexpected and appreciated luxury. Both bedrooms are tucked quietly away from the main living area insuring guests an escape to private space when desired.

BATHROOM: Large updated bathroom hosts a bath/shower combination with grab bar, lots of hot water & terrific water pressure! Toilet tissue and quality shampoo, conditioner, body & hand soap are provided.

TV/INTERNET: Televisions hosts all the channels and FREE Netflix, Amazon & AppleTV. FREE high speed Satellite Internet insures guests are in touch with the rest of the world - even though (thankfully) you will feel so far away from it all. Mobile phone service in the area is excellent thanks to the tower on top the mountain behind the house.

Comfy Getaway!
This is an incredibly clean, comfortable and relaxing place to stay right on Lake Superior. The amenities are wonderful: a hot tub on the deck for watching the sun rise in the morning, a patio over the water, bonfire pit and sunny places to sit (especially in warmer weather!). Perfect for unwinding!

Beautful view
The view was amazing! The porch was good. The hot tub was nice, but a little low on water. The speed at getting hot tap water was GREAT! Since there was no dishwater, my hubby (the dish washer) was a little disappointed in the size of the dish rack. Although there’s two acres, there’s still moderately close neighboring houses easily seen in winter. The owner was very responsive which we appreciated.

Beautiful
The cottage was a beautiful getaway that I highly recommend. It is very quiet, no city or traffic noise at all so you can relax and hear nothing but the water of Lake Superior. Cottage is very clean, bright and has every last detail to make your stay cozy. From decor and automatic evening lighting both inside and out, to crisp towels and soft bedding. Everything is there to make you feel cozy and at home.

Restorative
My husband, brother and I savored our week's stay. The cottage was immaculate, the kitchen provided all we needed for preparing our meals. And the views of Lake Superior were spectacular. With the bedroom window open a bit and the sound of the waves I slept like a baby. We enjoyed the multilevel decks, especially the one that reached out over the water. Such a good space for reading and restoring. Although we didn't fish - we purchased local ly caught fish at a fish market in Thunder Bay. We enjoyed some lovely hikes and sites in the area including Kakabeka Falls and Trail, the Fort Williams Historical Park, hiked parts of the James Duncan Nature Trail, and explored Prince Arthur Marina. The owner was very attentive to our communications. We have spent considerable time staying near Gran Marais on the U. S. side - my wish to go "further up" to avoid tourists and to experience a more wilderness feeling was abundantly fulfilled. Definitely a place to return to.
