“Douglas Cottage exceeded expectations. It was delightfully decorated in Georgian and Victorian styles but managed to perfectly combine historical charm with all the necessary mod-cons. The hosts, Barbara and Andrew, greeted us on arrival and showed us around the cottage and explained how everything worked. “Loved the location of this charming cottage in Chester. Met with owners in person for an overview of the house. Home is walking distance to the Rows, Roman wall and ruins, beautiful parks and the train station. We enjoyed having coffee in the morning on the rooftop terrace overlooking the bridge and the river!”

The booking was easy but the owner of this cottage was excellent in communication and instructions ( Gaynor ) there isn’t enough I could say and we had the privilege of meeting her when she did midweek check on jacuzzi. “Everything about this property was great. There were a few minor issues. One was the metal strip keeping down the carpet leading to the small bedroom had some screws sticking up. We threw a towel over it and moved on. Had we reported it I’m sure it would have been taken care of. Also, would have liked a place to set our toiletries in the bathroom. Some sort of shelf. The decor was nice and everything was clean. Would reccomend this place.”

“Property is ideal for a couple, short or longer stay. Very clean and comfortable. Location is excellent within a quiet area very close to City Centre. Great shops - highly recommended Butcher - and three great Pubs with nearest next door but one and furthest about a minute away. Parking on road is limited to 30 minutes between 0800 and 1800, but parking available close by, and was ok. Would recommend this property.”

“This is a lovely property but you need to be happy with the road being very close therefore keeping windows open was a problem, the owners did supply some cooling fans. Lack of bath mats, dish clothes, face clothes. It would have been a bonus to have some foil, cling film. So keep this in mind and bring some with you. The property is very close to Chester and attractions.”

“Had no peace when in the cottage. The adjoining cottage was being refurbished so all we got all day was drilling ,hammering and sanding on the walls. Had to go out even when it was pouring of rain as couldn’t stand the noise.”

“Pre check in email was very useful about how to find the nearest car park, but missed the part about not being able to book the parking for more than 24 hours so you have to sit for your current session to expire before paying again. Check out time was incorrect stating 1100 when booking email stated by noon. I reply to confirm but didn’t hear back from property. “What a great location, thats it. The appartment could be some much better. It was clean but damage to walls, pictures propped up on the floor, bulbs missing from lamp, sofa in lounge disgusting and dirty, no tv remote and worse of all it absolutely stunk of cannabis all night and no way of removing the smell as no air conditioning. Such a shame the location is great and the apartment could be much better, it just needs some tlc and some return communication from the ower. I messaged them about...
