“I booked a room for my daughter to spend with her baby on her first birthday. I was away in the UK and asked the lodge if they would be able to put roses and champagne etc. in the room. And leave a birthday message from me. Lisa provided it all and made it so special for them. And had balloons and cupcakes with candles at the breakfast table. I’m so thankful to her! She went above and beyond what I expected. My daughter said it was the perfect setting to spend her daughter’s first birthday. And...

“This is the best place to stay in Pietermaritzburg! The location is perfect for anyone affiliated with the university - literally across the street. You can have breakfast and supper - both excellent - and the hosts are extremely hospitable and helpful. We arrived with a flat tire, and Gys helped us get a new car the next morning. I have seldom experienced a home away from home as warm and welcoming as Ridge on 79. ”

“We were there to book in at 14:00 when we could book in, our room was not ready! It was not cleaned yet and we had to get ready for a wedding!! We had to wait till 14:50 till they were done cleaning and had to be atvthe wedsing T 16:00. We had to do our make up outside in the heat and was sweating because they were busy and we could not so it in the room with the aircon on. I had to rush doing my and my daughters hair. We were not impressed at all!”
