Fantastic small boutique hotel. Individual rooms with great design set in a historic building with a great terrace to have a drink on while looking at the wonderful historic garden . Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommended.

Överraskande bra boende i Florens.
Ett helt annorlunda hotell med individuellt inredda rum. Detaljer som fungerande badkar (!) i sovrummet utöver fullständigt badrum. Härligt frukostrum med en lagom anpassad frukost. Stor terass mot park på hotellets baksida. Ligger söder om Arno, ca 10 min gångväg till Ponte Vecchio. Ett av få hotell som överträffar bilderna i annonsen! Rekommenderas! Kommer att bo där igen när det bär av mot Florens nästa gång.

Absolutely perfect
Ad Astra was one of the best parts of our trip to Florence. It’s located on a quiet street in Oltrarno away from the crowded city center, close to many wonderful shops and restaurants and still an easy 15 min walk to the Duomo. The unassuming front gate opens to stunning private gardens. Highly recommend one of the 1st floor terrace rooms which have a private terrace overlooking the gardens. Our room was massive and exquisitely decorated, with a large bathroom. The daily breakfast was delicious in a beautiful setting with more garden views. Best of all, the staff at Ad Astra was nothing short of INCREDIBLE. The front desk staff were so friendly and helpful with restaurant recs, reservations, museum tickets, tours, winery recommendations, etc., and the cleaning staff left no detail untouched. Ad Astra is a gem, I cannot recommend it highly enough!

I wonderful property . A little away from center of Florence but every could be reached with 15 min walk at most. Wonderful property on private garden (you can not walk it) you can view from patio. Property has wonder outdoor space overlooking garden. Rooms very nice for older building. Nice breakfast in the morning. Area close by many dining and drinking and laundry options.

You have to stay here!
The hotel surpassed our expectations! Once you’ve walked through the entrance gate and you see the amazing gardens you would never realize how close to the centre of Florence you are! Whilst the gardens are private, we had one of the garden bungalows so got to enjoy the garden on the short walk to the main building. You can also enjoy breakfast on the 1st floor terrace over looking the gardens. The included breakfast was great as was the use of the dining/sitting room & terrace with free coffee and cakes all day! The room was fantastic, massive comfy bed, relaxing bath tub and many other facilities. Very clean and tidy. The reception were really friendly and called us on the day of checkin to find when we’d be arriving and provide helpful details. What totally surprised me was the approach they take to extras. We got a bottle of local Prosecco to drink on the terrace for €20 and bottles of water are €1, none of the normal huge hotel mark ups, amazing value!!! How refreshing!

AdAstra is a totally unique property in an excellent location in Florence. We much preferred being in this quiet neighborhood that’s still super close to all the main sites in the city. The hotel itself is very charming and old world, and we loved having breakfast every morning on the patio overlooking the gardens. The staff were also incredibly friendly.

Wonderful staff who made us so welcome on arrival and helped with local suggestions. Room was lovely and bed very comfortable. Bathroom was very spacious so overall we loved the room. Stunning hotel location in that it is in a quieter part of town but still only a 10 minute walk to popular spots. Facilities a little limited and did not realise that one could not walk in the gardens - not a major issue for us as it was only a one night stay but I don’t think it was that clear on booking (but I may have misread that). Breakfast was okay but somewhat limited with no hot/cooked options. This was partly offset by the lovely terrace for breakfast, overlooking the gardens. We would definitely stay here again.

I enjoyed my stay at Ad Astra. It was clean, quiet and located in a wonderful area. The bed wasn't as comfortable as I'd hoped. And breakfast options were somewhat limited. That said, the room itself was large with books, armchairs, and a luxurious bathroom. It even had a clawfoot tub! I especially appreciated the beautiful view each morning with my coffee.

This was an incredible property tucked away from the noise of Florence but still a 10 mins walk to everything you want to see. The rooms are very well-designed and private. The staff was incredible and breakfast on the terrace was a dream! Will definitely stay here again.

Beautiful property but not necessarily worth it
The property itself, set back in the more relaxed and locals focused oltrarno neighborhood, was gorgeous with a view off of the terrace of Europe’s largest privately owned garden. You could sit and view the garden’s during a nice low key breakfast or have a drink at night, bring in your own dinner etc. We stayed in one of two rooms in a smaller building next to the main facility. The room was massive and nicely appointed but we struggled with humidity and a broken or often not working air unit that left the room humid and damp, so damp our clothes were wet when we got back after a day of sightseeing. When the dehumidifier setting of the air unit did work it unfortunately leaked all over the stone steps near the bed where I had stored personal belongings. The staff were friendly and helpful but service overall for high price was lacking. It seems like when the property first opened pre-covid there was a lot more service and now invisible service means you’re mostly on your own, esp. After staff leaves at 7:30pm. We stayed for 6 nights- great location, pretty environment, but not necessarily worth the price. We were expecting more.

Perfect location and the setting overlooking the gardens is do special. The terrace is magical. The staffs service and professionalism is wonderful! We highly recommend and hope to return. A couple small changes that would make it better are better sleeping pillows and cut fresh fruit at breakfast.

AdAstra came highly recommended in various magazines and websites, and it more than lived up to those recommendations. My room was lovely, a great view out to the private garden, very nice breakfast, and extremely friendly and helpful staff. And it's in Florence, which is one of the world's great destinations. I liked that it was in the Oltrarno (sp?), south of the Arno, which is a little quieter, but still wonderful.

This is an amazingly beautifully designed B&B, everyone was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast and coffee yummie and lots of choices.
