Decent hotel centrally located in Sandton
I only stayed for one night at the Protea Marriot hotel in Sandton because it was convenient as I was going on a safari tour and the hotel was a pick-up point for the safari excursion. The hotel was spread out over a rather extensive area and you could get lost (which I did) trying to find your room the first time you got there. I asked one of the staff members (who was very friendly and helpful) and even he couldn't find my room the first time he tried. Eventually we did find it. The service was good and all of the staff I came in contact with were polite and helpful. The area in the immediate vicinity did not really have much to offer but was also free of beggars, which is always a relief. The bed was comfortable and I slept well. There was a lovely outdoor swimming pool which looked very inviting since the weather was warm and nice. However, I never had the time to use it. The hotel offered a free shuttle service to and from the Sandton shopping centre, which I never used. All in all, it was a comfortable stay at a hotel a fifteen-minute walk from the Sandton shopping centre and the Gautrain station, which has a train link to Tambo international airport.

Finns allt på bekvämt avstånd.
Bra klassiskt hotell med fina trädgårdar och pol områden alldeles intill Sandton City och Mandela Square. Skön avkoppling efter affärsmöten runt om i Sandton.

Kanonläge!
Väldigt trevligt hotell som ligger på kort promenadavstånd från Mandela. square med många bra restauranger och mycket shopping. Hotellet har även en trevlig pool om man hinner med det. Tyvärr så hann inte vi använda den. Supertrevlig service!

A good priced mid-range hotel
Excellent mid-range hotel that is struggling to be on the top, working really hard. The floors look as if polished daily, the rooms are clean (I stayed in two different) and felt fresh. The hotel consists of several building tied together so it is a bit of a maze with swimming pools in-between, which gives a nice familiar feeling. The restaurant was good, a decent selection of tasty food and the personnel really friendly and quick to help you in any way. The hotel is within quick walking distance of the Sandton Convention Center, as well as the Mandela Square Shopping Center. An excellent choice if you have business in the Sandton area and want to have something either cheaper than the convention center hotels or just enjoy a short evening walk to your hotel after having had dinner.

Hotellet ligger i ett ganska tråkigt område. Du behöver åka taxi till det mesta. Väldigt bra steakhouse granne med hotellet som rekommenderas. Poolerna var dåligt skötta.

Ground floor room damaged by damp
Before our arrival we had made reservations and paid for two rooms (same reservation no.). At our arrival, they could only find one reservation. After some 15 minutes waiting they said our reservation had been found and we got a room. Things like that can happen, and they solved it, which is fine. However, when we got to the room it was on the ground level and damaged by damp with a strong distinct smell, even with the windows open (on arrival). We asked for a room change to a higher floor which was no problem, and that room was OK. But you'd think no hotel should want to put their guests in a room like the first on in the first place. If you stay there, ask for a room on one of the upper floors. The hotel is a business hotel. It was nice enough, and the staff helpful and friendly. A small minus on the service was that the concierge wanted to sell us an expensive package when we asked about a visit to the apartheid museum. The package (taxi + tickets) was approx. x2 in price than paying for a taxi (booked by the hotel) and tickets to the museum separately, which we ended up doing. The hotel is OK for 1-2 nights. It's got two swimming pools and a nice garden court. However, if we go to J-burg again, we would choose a different hotel.

Bra hotell i Sandton Johannesburg
Jag tycker att detta hotell var ett jättebra val. Vi bodde här 2 veckor och är jättenöjda. Personalen var vänlig och hjälpsam, och rummen var fina. Vi hade "2 Bedroom Suite", vilket var bra med två sovrum och ett arbetsrum. Frukosten var toppenbra, så se till att den ingår i bokningen. Vi använde hotellets egen Taxi vid resor, vilket fungerade helt ok, dock bör man vara tydlig med tider och platser, så att det inte blir missförstånd. Närheten till Mandela Square och bra restauranger är toppen. Ca 5-10 miuters promenad. Närheten till Gautrain är också bara ca 5-10 minuter, så kommunikation mellan flygplats & hotell är toppen. Hotellet hämtar och kör dessutom denna korta sträcka om man inte vill gå. Det var en del flygpersonal som bodde på hotellet, vilket också känns som ett bra hotellbetyg. det enda som var lite dåligt var det trådlösa internet, men så var det nog över lag i Johannesburg. I receptionen funkade det bra, men på rummen var det lite svajigt, dock var det tillräckligt för att kunna maila och arbeta en del. Summerat så är vi jättenöjda.

Trevligt hotell med fin frukost. Konstiga regler som i hotellets bar där det var rökförbud utanför men tillåtet att röka inne i baren? Renovering av en möjlig vägg gjorde det svårt att sova länge. Trist för familjer med små barn som vill sova middag när en slagborr sätter igång. Dåligt med löfte om fri internet men vid ankomst så blev vi informerade att det var begränsat till 500 mb sedan måste man köpa mer tid.

Ganska lugnt på kvällen i affärsområde.
Det var väldigt prisvärt, mycket lyx för liten peng. Bokade tyvärr inte frukost samtidigt med rummet så det blev dyr frukost eftersom vi ändå åt på hotellet men god. Nära till Nelson Mandela Square och många restauranger. Några gallerior i närheten men med mycket tomma lokaler.

Nice hotel in a safe area in Sandton. Good restaurant. Walking distance to shopping mall and lunch restaurants. We just stayed here for one night before our safari trip to Kruger.

Safe and comfortable stay in Joburg
I liked the bed a lot, very comfy. But I thought there would be shower gown, not to mention more of amenities like shampoo and conditioner. They only offer a small soap bar, body cleanser, lotion and a shower cap. Overall staffs were really kind, breakfast was also good (nothing special). Beautiful garden.

Airport pick up arranged in advance and we were picked up almost an hour later after i had to make a phone call. We were greeted by trainee at the hotel and she was absolutely fantastic ( I wish i remembered you name you beautiful young lady). Check out however was another issue. We had to leave early in the morning (driver showed up earlier then we were told at the time of our booking). First, they wanted to charge us for a drink we never had. It’s ok, people do make mistake but that person at the reception attitude was just wrong. After that issue was resolved, she said we need to pay taxes which we paid at the time of the booking. After that, we politely asked to get 2 croissants to go because we are going to miss our paid breakfast as tour guide messed up our pick up time. She said to wait another 5 min until restaurant is open. It was just one thing after another where it felt like she was vindictive and determined to get us somehow. She really ruined our day. I usually don’t bother with feedback but I had to express my disappointment in that person. I wish i remembered your name but I am sure your lovely manager will remember you and us as well. Otherwise hotel is amazing, location is superb.
