Thanks for taking the time to write a review. It is great to be in town and close to the restaurants and shops. It can be annoying to be woken up by the fire siren or train but unfortunately anywhere in town you stay that is the case. Sometimes the white noise machine i have there helps but if you are a light sleeper ( like myself) it only helps a little.

I appreciate all reviews and wish the noises were within my control. All the negatives are mentioned in the description so guests know prior to arrival what to expect.

I really appreciate Diana taking the time to share her experience. I did have in the description of the property the fact that the train runs through town and is nearby. It can be heard from any properties that are in the town limits. I also mention the cemetery in the property description and that it is across the road. It has been recommended to be added to the National Register of Historic Places.

I appreciate all feedback and I understand not everyone has lived or spent the night in old houses so their expectations aren't always realistic. Our home is over 100 years old but it is not certainly run down. It recently had a remodeled throughout by licensed contractors. There is a new kitchen, new paint, new electrical, new appliances, new heat and a/c downstairs. And much more. The windows are insulated double hung and most of them do open but we prefer guests not open them because of forgetting to close windows in rain etc. It hasn't been a concern. If there is a creaky floor or two that's just old age. Window air conditioners can be noisy and I apologize for that. We are adding mini splits to the upstairs bedrooms as soon as our HVAC technician can get caught up and get to it.

Thanks Marc for choosing to stay at our home. I appreciate your kind words and your feedback about the fire siren/alarm. It is a long standing tradition in the town to sound the alarm at 12 noon everyday and anytime there is an emergency to alert the volunteers. I apologize that it can be quite an annoyance and certainly if one is sleeping. I have made a note in my listing so guests are aware of it. We are a town with quite a few accommodations for out of town guests and unfortunately anywhere within a few miles, which is pretty much the entire town you can hear the siren (air horn). I wish there was something that could be done about it but it has been met with much resistance. Hopefully it will not be the take away for most who come for a visit.
