Nice hotel for safari
We very much enjoyed the stay. Well located next to Kruger Park. Only kind of negative thing was that in the winter climate (as Swede it feels weird to call it winter when it is 15 degrees outside though) it became a bit too cold to sit outside during the dinner, maybe it was a temporar solution. The hotel can be recommended if you are aiming for a safari stay in Kruger Park.

Bra placerat fint hotell precis vid Kruger gate. Lite djungelkänsla. Fantastiskt god frukostbuffé m kock som lagade de äggrätter du önskade. Även middagsbufféen var god även om det blev lite upprepning efter fyra kvällar. Minus att det inte fanns någon dusch vid poolen, alla hoppade i utan att tvätta sig. God hjälp m att ordna bra safari på hotellet, såg Big five. Kan rekommendera detta ställe.

Perfect when visiting Kruger
Being located just outside one of the main entrances to the Kruger Park, Protea Hotel Kruger Gate is the perfect place to stay when visiting this amazing national park - no matter if you go by your own car or want to join an organized tour. The hotel offers all facilitites needed, e.g. a big pool area, relaxing surroundings, SPA treatments, all day meals, a gift shop and tour bookings. Don't be surprised by the monkeys swinging the trees or if a bigger animal walks across the garden. A minus for the sometimes grim front desk staff, but a big plus for the tasty braai (BBQ) for dinner that makes the stay at this hotel an ultimate experience. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to others!

Tyvärr ganska smutsigt på rummet och intryck av fuktig källare i bottenvåningen, försök att undvika dessa rum. Bra buffe. Boka safaris med KNP, det är betydligt billigare än med hotellets personal.

It was a nice hotel, not too big, close to one entrance to the park. The food was good. Trees were beautiful. One can see elephants and other animals from the pool bar. The main problem is that their safaris, or park tours, are too expensive, much more expensive than those organized by the park. But the vehicles are confortable, and drivers nice and helpful.

Great family-/child-friendly hotel adjacent to Kruger Gate, making it super convenient for safaris (5am departure = 530am wildlife sightings!). Pool view is stunning, and a further kids pool make it pleasant and entertaining for kids. Staff were super attentive to ensure our stay was pleasant! The dinner buffet was incredible!

Absolutely amazing!!
Séjour absolument parfait!! Nous y aurions séjourner beaucoup plus longtemps si l'itinéraire nous l'avais permis! Localisation idéale, service hors pair, buffet Booma dinner varié et excellent, restaurants incroyable (déjeuner), services et commodités diversifiés et accessibles (bar, gym, café, aide pour les tours/activittés, etc.). We stopped at this hotel as part of our honeymoon. Amazing hotel. Straight away you feel welcomed and comfortable. The staff are very helpful. The room was lovely and it was decorated for our honeymoon with a bottle of bubbly and petals. The facilities were great with two pools and loads of other activities on site. The food was a buffet style but with so much choice and delicious fresh food. It was a great experience eating outside. We booked a morning safari tour which was incredible. We saw so much wildlife and the guide was so helpful and informative (went in August). We would definitely come back again it was an amazing first safari experience.

Hidden Gem
The property is a hidden gem with tree house lounges, large open deck for animal viewing, outstanding meals for every palate and diet, aged towering trees interspersed throughout, spacious rooms and amenities such as spa, game rooms and gym. The staff are very friendly, helpful, authentic and genuine. I have stayed in property several times and highly recommend it.

What an amazing vacation! You literally cannot beat the location and wow, the hotel was stunning. Good food to order, lovely staff, and even a little shop for souvenirs! Cannot recommend this hotel enough. Also, highly recommend booking “Amos” as your game driver with Kurt Safari Co (who the hotel uses for safaris) he was amazing! One of the managers of the hotel, Sarah, was so sweet and accommodating. Also had a lovely spa experience!

Nice Enough Stay
Location is right at the gate so you’re on safari in minutes. The pool overlooks a river and day one we enjoyed a herd of elephants right out front. The following days we enjoyed hippos in the morning. All of this best enjoyed through binoculars. The rooms had ceiling fans (as well as ac) and the cleaning staff mostly kept doors closed when cleaning so we were delighted to have little to no mossies in our room. There are several bars on property with amiable staff and the grounds are generally beautiful. The drawbacks we found were the following: the food was ok. I wish they had hand sanitizer somewhere at the restaurant when hundreds of people are serving themselves with the same serving spoons. My husband watched a man drop the serving spoon on the ground 3 times (!!!!) and then try to walk away leaving it for someone else to serve themself with. Gross. He alerted the kitchen staff and they replaced it immediately. Dinner staff is overwhelmed, they need more people. Out of 3 nights we were only helped with drinks once and never again did we receive anyone checking in on us; even that evening the man was scurrying and often hard to find. Overall, Kruger is a tourist trap (the park not the hotel) so we spent more time at the hotel. We wished the pools were heated so we could actually enjoy the pool deck. Or that they had a hot tub/sauna to enjoy during winter. At nearly $300/night we felt they fell short in places that seemed obvious to curate a good stay for this rate.

A real African Experience that is so affordable
My knowledge of this property goes right back to 1987 when we bought time share at this location, and the original Karos Kruger Hotel was pretty basic. After an absence of many years we booked to stay at the now Kruger Gate and one of the new bedroom suites. From check in to our room, to drinks over looking the Kruger Park to dinner to breakfast - in a word. Excellent and the staff are superb. Having stayed in the past at a number of private game lodges in the Sabi Sands area most are outstanding but can cost anything up to $1000 per night per person. The Kruger Gate Hotel offers exceptional value and a great bush experience at a fraction of the cost of private lodges. And they can arrange daily and night drives in the Kruger. I would highly recommend fly in or drive to the Kruger - stay in the hotel and enjoy daily self drives in the Kruger A wonderful way to experience the bush, and African food and hospitality at a really affordably rate

Perfect introduction by the staff as you arrive, facilities were unreal and the venue made sure that there were no disruptions with load shedding which was convenient. All in all, great location and venue.

Kruger hotel 2022
Amazing stay at a great hotel. From the easy check-in, clean and comfortable rooms, great food, exceptional service and amazing location, everything contributed to a great holiday experience. Particularly enjoyed the view of the river and easy access to the Kruger Park itself. Will be back!!

Simplemente espectacular. El hotel es precioso, cómo está integrado con la zona, la habitación era muy bonita, cama muy cómoda, la gente muy amable, las comidas muy ricas, la zona de la cena con el fuego una pasada, ubicación perfecta… me he enamorado de este sitio!!

This hotel is amazing! We wish we had more time here. Fortune was our safari guide and he did a great job! The updated hotel room was so nice. And we loved the atmosphere of the grounds of the hotel. It kind of feels like you’re in a tree house. Great food. Great time. Friendly staff! We hope to be back.

It’s beautiful and sophisticated. Enjoy your stay. The only slightly lacking amenity is the game drive. I’ve had more informative and more interactive leaders. And, though one cannot rely on the bush to deliver, some company’s find animals more readily. Experience or luck? I cannot say.

Die Unterkunft liegt direkt neben dem Kruger Gate und man ist direkt im Kruger Nationalpark. Man hört die Tiere und sieht das ein oder andere Tier im Fluss vorbei gehen oder verweilen. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Per WhatsApp kann man problemlos mit der Rezeption in Kontakt bleiben und Fragen werden schnell beantwortet. Leider war das WLAN nicht das Beste aber zum entspannen auch gut ;) Das Frühstück und Abendessen war sehr lecker und es war für jeden was dabei. Beim Frühstück gab es auch Cappuccino mit Mandelmilch 👍
