Tuscany Dream
Amazing house and stay! Not only does Marco and his son Tommaso offer an amazing house for a big family vacation, they also make sure you are having a great time during your stay and are there for any questions or needs which adds the personal friendly feeling to your stay. They even installed a fixed electrical car charger so we could charge our electric car during our stay. Perfect hosts that goes the extra mile to make your stay a great memory!

Return Visit Even Better
Our second visit to Villa Maria with extended family was every bit as magical as the first. We enjoyed evening dinners on the veranda, lounging by the pool and visiting the Tuscan hill towns. Our dinner prepared by chef Donato was exceptional…a highlight of the visit! Our host, Tommaso, was very helpful and available as needed.

Great place for relaxing break
Everyone in our group enjoyed staying at the beautiful property during a holiday with my wife's family (8 adults and 6 children). The house is plenty big enough with good size bedrooms and good living spaces as well as useful outdoor space. It was a shame that no welcome pack was provided unlike the ones you get at other properties - maybe a bottle of wine and some milk and bread would have been a nice touch. During our stay (August 2023) the temperatures hit 38-40 degrees centigrade and it meant the bedrooms (no air conditioning) were really hot at night even with ceiling fans. We did request freestanding fans but none were made available. The swimming pool is large and clean and warm - the children and adults loved spending time in the pool to cool off! As we were on holiday in August the mosquitoes and flies were a big nuisance and the whole group got bitten plenty so I'd recommend good bug spray and burning a candle at night!! The walk into town is via a dusty track and the local town has a basic shop. To go to good eateries you will need to drive. That said the property is a great location for getting to Florence. The tennis court and football pitch was fantastic and enjoyed by many of the family. The view from the property was breathtaking also. In summary if the property had air conditioning in the bedrooms (you pay for electricity during your stay anyway!) then it would be 5 stars. Certainly the host Tomasso was really friendly and full of good tips!

Dear Martin, thank you for leaving a review! It was nice to have you and your happy fam here, and I can only agree with you about the suggestions and the points you underlined. About the heat, I completely agree with you that you got hit by hottest week in this summer, out from the average at our latitudes, and I’m truly sorry I couldn’t provide you the vertical fans in time. As we’re renewing the bathrooms this winter, we’re considering to install a/c in the bedrooms for 2024 season. I also agree that the mosquitos and other flying insects has been super annoying this year, due to many humid periods this summer which helped reproduction, despite we make a treatment in late spring and midsummer (but as you’ve seen the area is too wide for it to be effective). Truly thank you for the suggestions, so we know what to improve to make the stay even more comfortable! You your fam and friends will always be welcome at the Villa again! Retirement dream
WOW. Very impressed. The villa and grounds are breaktaking. You MUST have the chef prepare several meals. The food is amazing. Villa maria is stunning. We felt like royalty.

Beautiful villa
A group of ten visited the villa for a week and it was fabulous. Chef Donato treated us to wonderful dinners and we enjoyed the breathtaking views of the estate. Our host, Tomosso was so helpful and friendly. We would certainly return.

Magnificent Villa Maria
We had the most wonderful family vacation in Villa Maria! All 11 of us hated to leave. The property and villa cannot be outdone. The Villa is beautiful, charming and very spacious with ample room for all of us. The property itself is stunning and meticulously maintains with gorgeous and relaxing views. We all enjoyed the pool and the lighted sports court allowed for late night tennis and soccer games. Tomasso is the best VRBO host we've ever encountered as he is engaging, informative and was responsive to every question and need we had. As others have mentioned Chef Donato is a gem that should not be missed. He is a fabulous cook with some of the best food we have ever tasted. He works hard to meet requests as we had two family members that are gluten free. Book Villa Maria...you will leave with happy hearts and wonderful memories.

This home is special. Very private and plenty of room. Tommaso our host was wonderful and available anytime we reached out. Great recommendations from him as well. We hired Donato to cook for us and after that dinner we wished we had him do more nights! Just excellent in every way. We also hired a photographer who did an awesome job as well.

An authentic Tuscan experience
My family and I recently stayed at the villa and had an incredible experience. Our host Tomasso was super attentive, knowledgeable and very helpful when it came to navigating travel in the area. We also hired Chef Donato for dinners and his food was incredible - I highly recommend him! The property is family friendly - we had children with us and they loved using the outdoor pool and soccer field. We did not rent a car but I would suggest it for those looking to do daytrips outside of the town. Thank you Marco and Tomasso for an incredible tuscan experience!

A magical stay
We have been back from Italy for a week, but we are all still dreaming of our time in Tuscany at Villa Maria and looking forward to going back as soon as possible. All of our communications with Marco were so helpful and warm from the moment we booked and Tommaso is the friendliest, kindest and most helpful host. We miss him already! The property is simply stunning. The walk to the bakery could not be dreamier and the views - especially from the windows on the third floor! - are spectacular. Even the tennis courts surrounded by cyprus courts look like a Tuscan fairytale. Chef Donato cooked for us twice and even helped us with a cooking lesson one evening! We went to some of the best restaurants in Rome and Florence and we truly think that his (enormous!) homecooked meals are the absolute best in Italy. Donato is so wonderful and was such a special part of our trip. The house is immaculate with plenty of room. We wished it was warmer to be able to use the pool as it looked so beautiful with such a gorgeous view. I can only imagine what it is like when the weather is warmer! We were 12 people - 6 adults and 6 kids, ages 4-12. We celebrated my mother's special birthday here and it was such a happy and cozy place to do so. The older kids played pool every night and everyone had room to relax after busy days exploring. We were easily able to drive and take the train to Florence. We visited Rome first and it was a quick 2.5 hrs to the villa from there. We also took day trips to Lucca, Pisa, Siena and wine tasting through the Chianti region. While this was an exceptionally beautiful place to stay - a dream! - it was the people that made this a magical, memorable, 3 generation birthday trip for the books. Thank you Tommy, Marco and Chef Donato. We miss you already!!

Christmas Week
We stayed for the week between Christmas and New Years and had an absolutely amazing time. The villa is beautiful and really spacious for our group of 10 people. Tom was so welcoming and helpful and a wonderful host. The location is perfect for exploring the area, so much to see and close enough to Florence for a day trip. We can't say enough good things about this wonderful spot. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Part of the family
We had an amazing stay at the villa. It was more house than two people need, but we are on a “second honeymoon” and wanted to be alone and be centrally located to visit all over Tuscany. It’s hard to describe the experience. It’s not the view or the building, it’s the family history and genuine goodness that exudes from this place. It’s rare to find now a day, but is more abundant than olive oil at Villa Maria. I didn’t just stay at a VRBO, I made a lifelong friend and connection in Italy.

A perfect holiday!
We had the most fantastic holiday in Villa Maria. This historic and beautiful villa is located in a prime location, high up in the Tuscan hills and the views are spectacular. Every evening we dined outside on the terrace, watching the amazing sunsets. The villa is spacious and furnished in a style suited to its age, set in lovely gardens with a tennis court, swimming pool and a short walk into the village. We had arranged for chef Donato to cook for six nights and we were so glad we did, I would highly recommend him. Each evening we sat down to quite literally a Tuscan banquet and there was always plenty of food left over for the next day. Marco was always very prompt and helpful in replying to our messages before our arrival and once there, we had the pleasure of meeting his son Tommaso who is an excellent host. He was extremely helpful and patient, answering any questions we had and ensuring we had the best time. We spent a very pleasant evening chatting to him about the history of the villa and life in Tuscany. One particularly memorable evening for us was the day that Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II passed away. We ate one of Donato’s delicious dinners on the terrace, watching a beautiful sunset whilst listening to the National Anthem and raising a glass to all those not with us. A holiday never to be forgotten!

Best host we have ever encountered!
We stayed at Villa Maria with a friend group of 12. We only have positive things to say about the house, the location, and especially the host. The house is exactly like how it is portrayed in the photos, even better. It was super clean and spacious, perfect for a big group! Tommaso was so kind and was there to help with anything we needed, even little things like going to the shop to buy us water as we were arriving after opening hours. He reserved great local restaurants and gave great recommendations about what to do within the area. We also had Chef Donato come cook for us one night and it really completed our Italian experience, a delicious 5 course dinner! All 12 of us agree that this is our best experience yet when it comes to renting a vacation house, and we will definitely be coming back. We had an amazing stay!

The French in Tuscany!
We were a group of 12 friends in our thirties who came to discover Tuscany and spend a week's vacation together. It was a wonderful time for several reasons: - The house is fantastic. Authentic, spacious, and the view on the valley is sumptuous for the sunsets. The pool is the perfect temperature! - The location of the house: Not too far from Florence, not too far from Siena, the house is perfect for visiting (you need a vehicle to get around) - The dinner with Chef Donato: a meal as huge as it was delicious. But this vacation was also excellent for one last reason, and not the least: Tommaso. Tommaso is the manager of the house. Always listening to our needs, always a big smile, very professional, but also always available to answer our invitations to share a "galtouze" of Spritz by the pool. Wie eine Filmkulisse
Dieses Haus mit Grundstück ist ein Traum! Geräumig, geschmackvoll im authentisch toskanischen Stil eingerichtet, mit einem tollen großen Pool, super schöner Terrasse und herrlichem Blick. Wir hatten genug Platz für 3 Familien mit 6 erwachsenen und 7 Kindern. Die Teenager fanden den Billardtisch natürlich mega. Nur die Bäder könnten mal renoviert werden, zwar sauber aber mit der Zeit etwas müffelnd. Tomasso war stets hilfsbereit und der Koch, der kam. Hat uns köstlich bekocht. Absolut empfehlenswert!

Heaven on Earth
The reviews for this property indicated the pictures don’t do it justice and we absolutely agree with that. We constantly marveled at the incredible, expansive view from the villa. The villa itself seemed right out of a movie set of what a Tuscan villa would look like. We had everything we needed. We enjoyed the time we spent with Tommaso and Marco. Chef Donato made two wonderful dinners for us. We were able to convince Marco to join us for dinner one night and he graciously and with good humor answered our many questions about Italy, winemaking, olive oil making and so much more.

Gorgeous stay at Villa Maria
We had a great time with two other families at Villa Maria. The grounds and view are breathtaking, the photos do not do it justice. The interior was clean and comfortable. The kitchen was a bit dark, but served our purposes. We loved walking down to town for coffee and croissants each morning. Tip: bring plenty of bug spray! The biodiversity is incredible but it comes with mosquitoes.

Under the Tuscan Sun
Marco and his son Tomasso are wonderful hosts! The Villa is amazing and we loved our time there. We spent every other day relaxing at the pool, playing tennis and ping pong in the pool house. We were two families with 5 kids all age19-22. We also hired a private chef, Donnato, who prepared two fabulous meals paired with wine, which we highly recommend. The Villa experience was definitely a highlight of our trip to Italy and we look forward to staying there again. Thank you Marco and Tomasso!!

Absolutely Fabulous
I booked this villa for family and friends because I loved the photos. Amazingly, the photos don't do it justice. The grounds are immaculate, the house is warm and inviting and the views from the terrace and pool decks are stunning. We had the most marvelous week. We toured a bit, went horseback riding, walked to the village, but mostly relaxed by the pool and enjoyed the villa. We had Donato cook for us two nights, which was excellent. Marco and Tomasso were wonderful hosts. There was great communication leading up to our stay and daily check-ins while we were there to make sure all was going well. Thank you both for sharing this wonderful spot and providing treasured memories for all ten of us. We hope to come back!

More than you wish
We stayed at the house with two families and our grandparents, 13 people in total coming and going. The spacious house with all its possibilities, the surroundings, the view, the “ortho” with its fresh vegetables, the fresh eggs in the morning, Tomasso, Donato the cook, Marco, lots of beautiful cities close by, the fresh pool, the beautiful garden, etc etc, it all was more than we ever hoped for. For the first time in our lives we all would love to come back to the same place for another year. Everything was absolutely fantastic!

Absolutely amazing stay
We stayed at the Villa with 4 kids ages 3 to 7 and 6 adults. It was spacious, breathtaking views and in great condition when we got there. We had Donato for one night and had an incredible meal. Marco and his son helped with anything we needed. Looking forward to coming back in the future!

a week-end in paradise
very very nice home, in the center of toscany, with outstanding view on the chianti region. the villa is perfect with great swimming pool & tennis, great garden with beautiful flowers, all the confort we needed inside and with the italian authenticity on the decoration the owner and his son are so welcoming ! they were here to advise us on everything we needed. we will be back for sure thanks marco & tommy

A perfect long weekend getaway with friends
Couldn't have asked for a more perfect weekend away with our friends. The villa is absolutely HUGE, there's tonnes of space, even with 14 people we never felt on top of one another. Pool, table tennis & tennis courts - there's endless activities for groups, which is why we chose the villa. So much fun! Marco organised the private chef for us on the first night. An incredible traditional tuscan dinner, an absolute must for anyone staying here! There was so much food we had loads left over for our entire stay. Marco And Tommy were absolutely wonderful hosts, they were accommodating with our every request. We will definitely be back - one of the best stays & hosts we've had. Grazie mille!

Abbiamo soggiornato a Villa Maria con altre coppie di amici. È un’ottima soluzione per una vacanza all’insegna del relax nel cuore della toscana. La villa è molto grande (7 camere e 7 bagni) ed è l’ideale in quanto offre spazi comuni ampi per ritrovarsi e per cenare insieme sia all’interno che esternamente. Bellissima la piscina da cui si gode di una vista spettacolare sulle colline toscane, il campo da tennis e la sala da biliardo. La villa è molto pulita, ottimamente tenuta e dotata di tutti i comfort necessari e di qualità. Marco è un proprietario gentile, disponibile e attento alle esigenze degli ospiti. La consiglio vivamente, siamo rimasti tutti molto soddisfatti ed entusiasti.

Amazing Experience
We had a great experience. There were 6 couples and the villa never seemed fully occupied. The setting was surreal looking out to the gorgeous Tuscan countryside. Tomaso was there for our every need. He provided rides to and from the train for some, took us for a tour of his family's olive farm, and became part of our family of friends. Donato prepared 3 of our dinners for the week's stay and each meal was delicious and perfectly prepared. Not having to cook or go out in the evening was a real treat. Side trips to Florence, Sienna ,San Gimignano, and area wineries were most accessible. Hiking trails were right out back. The walk into town for essentials was only a few minutes out the gate. The group all highly recommend Villa Maria as the perfect way to connect to the essence of Tuscan life.

Just perfect
Our holiday at Villa Maria could not have been better. The villa was beautiful and the views from the villa were breathtaking at any time of the day. The villa itself was very clean and well equipped. There was also a pleasant 10 minute walk down to the local shop – which was well supplied and had extremely helpful staff. The hire of a car would be recommended as the villa is a little out of the way, which was just what we wanted, but having the use of a car made it even more perfect to explore the beautiful countryside. It was reassuring that Marco and his son Tommy were on hand if any help or advice on what to see and where to go was required. They did everything they could to ensure our stay was a perfect one – even managing to purchase a ping pong table on our behalf for our stay. Also, Marco’s suggestion of hiring a chief one evening made a great stay even more memorable. We would definitely go back again and recommend this villa to all those looking for a quite and relaxing holiday away from the normal crowds. Thank you, Marco and Tommy, for making our stay a perfect one.

Family villa holiday near Reggello, Tuscany
The villa was exactly as we expected, great location, excellent views and spotlessly clean and a great pool area. Marco (owner) couldn't do enough and was always available to offer suggestions and advice if required. The cook he recommended was excellent - and we used him for quite a few evening meals - there was always lots left over for lunch the next day - his local wine suggestions were good. Staying at Villa Maria was exceptional. We were a large party of mixed ages down to 20. Villa Maria provided everything we needed. The house was clean and spacious. The grounds and pool immaculate. Marco and Tommaso were very helpful. Had Donato cook one night which was fabulous. Don’t eat much during the day! Florence was great and easy to get to by train. Didn’t expect the mountains to be so green and well worth the drive up. All in all a magical place to be and a great place to make memories. Thank you once againMarco. Ann

A gem In a corner of paradise
We were four families with 8 kids staying in villa maria for a week. The villa was magnificent and I don’t think any of us ever got tired of the view. It was absolutely fantastic. The house was better than the pictures online and with a bathroom for almost every room it never got crowded. We booked the chef Donato for four days and enjoyed the freedom of sitting down to a three course Italian menu at our own pace. A big thank you to Donato his lovely cooking and flexibility with our many kids. Our landlord Tommaso was also very helpful and sweet to help us. We hope to comeback another time:-)

Outstanding hosts and villa
We stayed in this lovely villa for 7 nights in September and we got just what we asked for - a relaxing Tuscan experience. Tommaso, Marco, Raffaele, and Donato were amazing hosts, and warm and welcoming people. We hired Donato to cook for us 3 nights that week and were just blown away by his talents in the kitchen. Every meal was 4 courses, every meal was different, and every meal was delicious. Tommaso was extremely friendly, responsive, and the perfect Ambassador to the beautiful town of San Donato. We had a group of 8 adults and 1 baby (one-year) and we never got in the way of each other; each group had their own room and the living space spills down to the pool. The one problem we did have was mosquitoes. We went in mid-September and everyone was getting bit in the evenings. Other than that, everything was perfect.

Absolutely amazing experience!
We stayed at Villa Maria for 10 days with 2 families in early June and it was magnificent! The villa and grounds were even better than the pictures. Marco and his son were incredibly helpful. We hired Donato to cook three nights for us and his meals were the best we had while in Italy. We would absolutely stay there again and highly recommend it. It is a wonderful Tuscan escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Oh, and the views and sunsets are to die for!!

Beautiful Home in a Spectacular Setting
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Villa Maria! The house lived up to all the reviews and photos, and the view was stunning. The location was very convenient. We especially liked being able to walk to town for coffee and pastries each morning, and having the train station so close made it easy to get to Florence. Like many others, we had Donato cook for us 2 nights. We had arranged to have him come our first night, and this was a life saver since, due to flight issues, we didn't arrive until quite late. The food was amazing, and there was enough left each time for lunch and dinner the next day. I would recommend that everyone have him cook at least once during their stay. Thank you for a wonderful time!

The Villa Maria is a Perfect Setting for Families
Our multi-generational family two glorious weeks at Villa Maria, a group of twelve. Ages and interests ranged in age from 12 years to age 86 years young. The spaciousness in and outside of the Villa had ample room to enjoy all it has to offer, including the beautiful swimming pool and, in the evenings, the game room featuring a pool table and card/game tables. With six young adults in our group, every amenity was fully utilized. We are a family of great cooks making the kitchen facilities utilized to their fullest for our party of 12. On two special evenings, Marco (the owner), made arrangements for Chef Donato to shop and prepare our family authentic Tuscan meals which were amazing. Should you choose the Villa for your group, please consider having Chef Donato prepare at least one of your meals - you will not be disappointed! These two weeks in Tuscany were the first time in 11 years that our scattered families were able to meet in one place once again. It was a special time for bonding and I wish to sincerely thank Marco and his on-site caretaker, Rafaelle, for attending to our needs and making this truly a trip of a lifetime filled with wonderful memories for all. A beautiful villa from which to truly enjoy Tuscany
Tuscany is as beautiful as you can imagine and the Villa Maria is a tremendous property from which to explore the area. We rented the Villa for two weeks--the first with 11 adults who are friends, and the second with 8 family members. The Villa was everything portrayed in the description and so much more. The view of the valley, the ability to walk to a little town, the spaciousness of grounds and varied places to sit and drink wine, laugh and relax were wonderful. The driving direction to the Villa are tricky, but once you get there, it was easy to find the place again and again! The Villa itself is charming, with a large living room, dinning room and kitchen. A few of the bathrooms had to be shared, but we were able to make that work. The pool area is large with places to lounge and sit in conversations. The pool was not heated, but that was refreshing during the warm days. There were limited supplies (toliet paper, paper towels, dishwashing soap, etc--so be prepared to shop after you arrive), but things like towels, and linens were supplied. The washer and dryer take time, but work fine. There is a groundskeeper on site so if anything needed immediate attention it was taken care of. The Villa is close to the train (about 10 minutes) so that people could go into Florence or elsewhere, and is close to a larger town (Reggello) for banks and supermarkets. Most the towns that you might want to visit (e.g., Siena, Cortona, San Gimignano) were about an hour away--traffic in the late afternoon getting back to the Villa was hectic, but not impossible! Marco is a delightful host, and was there to answer all of our questions. Once our reservations were made, it was easy to work with him to transfer payments, and request help with events. For example, we used Danato as a chef for 3 meals. They were outstanding and far superior to what we had in restaurants--in addition to which he is charming and his little English is just enough to make it fun. Marco also helped arranged for a birthday dinner at one of the restaurants in the area. All of us had a wonderful time, and regretted having to leave this beautiful place. I would highly recommend Villa Maria...and I hope to return someday.

Wonderful authentic Italian Villa
We had a Fabulous family holiday with 3 generations of family. There were 12 of us but the villa could easily sleep 14.Outside areas have stunning views day and evening. Full working kitchen,inside and outside dining areas. We had Donato a local chef cook for us one night. Food was delicious and plenty over for lunch the next day. All bedrooms are cool at night even though there is no air conditioning.Beds are very comfortable with white Egyptian cotton bedlinen. Garden and pool area was immaculately kept. You defiantly need a car, the closest resteraunt to the villa is Ristorante Degli Usignoli About 5/10 minutes by car I would highly recommend it, we had dinner there 3 times. The roads are extremly windey so would not recommend driving very far in the dark. Our flight was delayed so we were driving in the dark, the sat nav brought us through a very dangerous road which was extreamly scary and traumatic. I think there needs to be a clearer map of how to get to property , maybe Marco the owner or Raffello the caretaker could meet guests in the closest local town to show the way for the first time. With this in mind I would highly Reccommend Villa Maria.

Beautiful and well maintained villa in the tuscan countryside.
VILLA Maria is truly a special place. We celebrated a big birthday and had family and friends coming and going. As many as 14 of us in villa at one time. Plenty of space for quiet moments. The kitchen was the hub for us. You must hire Donato the chef! He is incredible and so kind. He made an individual pizza each night we hired him for my 3 year old grandson. Marco is so kind and warm and helped us tremendously when we were lost! The villa was a little tricky to find when jet lagged but after you do it once it is simple. We highly recommend taking the train from S. ELLERO to Florence and elsewhere. The station is 15 min drive down the hill from the villa. The little market and bar in town (down the driveway) are so nice and kind. Everywhere we went the grandchildren were so welcomed...bambinos!! We found everyone we met so warm and so open. We absolutely fell in love with the villa, Chianti, the food and the people. I actually cried when we left. We are finding our dates for our next trip to Villa Maria!!

Ah, Villa Maria, we adore you!
There cannot possibly be a more beautiful, perfect place for a family gathering than Villa Maria. The villa, and it's wonderful owner Marco, exceeded our expectations in every way, and, judging by the gorgeous pictures, we expected perfection. Villa Maria's beauty and charm is so much greater than anything mere pictures can capture! My middle son was in Europe for the winter/spring semester of 2016, and he had a travel week early in April. I booked Villa Maria knowing it would be very early -- no pool -- but crossed my fingers (successfully!) for lovely spring weather. To book the villa, you have to call Marco. He returned my call instantly, and just speaking to him I knew this was going to be the vacation of a lifetime. Marco was charming, helpful, and welcoming during that conversation and throughout the trip. The villa itself is spectacular. The location up on the hill with its panoramic view of the Tuscan countryside laid out before you is breath taking. The rooms are beautiful, the beds are comfortable, we cooked up a storm in the huge, well equipped country kitchen, the kids played pool every night, and everyone was incredibly comfortable and happy. My husband and I were there with a fabulous group of young people (two of our sons, two nieces, son's girlfriend, college roommate, etc) and we just had the time of our lives. There were day trips to Cinqua Terra, Florence, and Sienna, and there were lazy days walking down to the market in the little village below the villa and just wallowing in the beauty and peacefulness of it all. Our second night there, Marco made reservations for us at a fabulous family run restaurant way up in the hills that served the BEST ravioli any of us have ever eaten! Every day was beautiful spring weather, fabulous food, and another amazing adventure. Heaven! Our last night at the villa, Marco arranged for Donato, a chef from Florence, to cook us a farewell feast. We dined al fresco, as we had done all our meals at the villa (we truly hit the jackpot with the warm spring weather!) and looked out over the Tuscan sunset as Donato served our table of 10 a five course feast. Perfection!! We love you Villa Maria and Marco -- we will find our way back❤️❤️❤️!!!
