Mysigt centralt boende
Mysigt placerat hus precis bakom huvudgatan i Reykjavik, ganska enkelt att hitta genom den vägbeskrivning man fick av värden. Fick checka in tidigt och fick gott bemötande. Lite lyhört inne i huset med "ihåliga dörrar" och kanske en och annan dammtuss under sängen, men sköna sängar och fina enkla rum. Kan rekommenderas om man är ute efter något enkelt.

Centralt å mysigt
Ett litet charmigt ställe som blev vårt hem i 5 dagar, lite dåligt med info vid ankomst men när vi väl träffa maneger va hon en jätte trevlig kvinna:) va lite störda av ett bygge brevid men de kan ju inte pensionatet styra över . Goa sängar. Vill gärna åka tillbaka . Låg väldigt centralt å bra.

No communication. I messaged 24 hrs before asking how I would get into the property. No reply. Luckily another guest came by while I was waiting outside. Usually you get the door code by email in advance but no. Other guest said he has the same poor experience communicating. I was in room 104 beside the bathroom and it was extremely loud. All the doors have old latches and was just quite a noisy experience. Avoid that room if you can. The towel provided was this super thin thing. Barely a bath towel. Location was good. Close walk to everything.

Hi very sorry to hear your experience, this is unusual. If you message here is like sending email...better to call or send text to the phone number. Our phone is always on and our guests can always contact us and if you did not receive all the details about how things work and how to get in to the property then we don't have the right email or any direct access to you if you booked through agency, then they did not forward to you. Same for the other guest you met...probably booked through agency as well and they don't think good enough about their clients. We always send 2 email with all info. The door to the bathroom has been fixed, the wood had expanded with increasing temperature outside..was just normal maintenance, nothing to complain about. Regards,Olga

Olga fue muy amable y eficaz resolviendo una petición. Excelente en general. Solo tiene un pequeño inconveniente y es que tiene cinco habitaciones y un solo baño con wc y ducha juntos, es un poco excaso. Pero me gustaría volver a alojarme aquí

something I wished I could of read before-- this property is smack dab in the heart of downtown. It is perfect for walking around- but the parking is difficult. So here are some tricks I wish someone would of shared. When you arrive go to the 2nd hand store on Grettisgata park only to drop off your luggage (if you have a lot) Then go up a few blocks to the P3 (green) which becomes free at 1800 zone where parking is 220isk/hr instead of 600isk/hr which doesnt become free until 9-10?. if you download the parka app it will help you find cheap parking. Once I figured this out - I saved a lot of money. Then when you are leaving- walk to get your car and bring it back to the 2nd hand store again so you don't have to drag your luggage all over- they don't open until 10 which is also when you have to check out by.

Everything you need for an easy night’s stay. My American compatriots may find the shower a bit small compared to all the space we are used to. I liked that there was a sink in the bedroom so I really only needed the shared bathroom for the toilet. The armchair and side table were all I needed to store and repack my travel pack. Room was warm and cozy all night.

The property had very real difficulties. There were 5 rooms usually with 2 people in each room BUT the shared kitchen could hardly fit more than two people without being crowded. Given that many of the guests wanted to cook rather than dine out at the expensive cafes in the area this was very problematic. Also our room had a broken heater in it.

The entrance to the guesthouse is down an alley. check in was simple. The space is quaint and cozy. has a very intense echo but was clean and comfortable.

Hadde et fint opphold i 6 døgn på Grettir, veldig sentralt og stille og rolig. Eneste jeg savnet var tilgang på en vaskemaskin og at det er litt knapt med kun et baderom på deling. Kommer gjerne tilbake igjen 😊

Molt ben ubicat
Hotel ben ubicat, en el centre de Reykjavik, però una mica difícil de trobar (l'entrada està en un carreró una mica lleig). En l'apartat negatiu, tot l'aparcament dels voltants és de pagament i, segons els estàndards espanyols, el preu em sembla excessiu per al que s'ofereix (habitació amb bany compartit).

Noisy. Got locked out. Don’t recommend.
Only positives: Clean place, great location. It was incredibly noisy, both in and outside. My room was next to the bathroom, anytime some used the bathroom I pretty much heard everything. The front door alarm would beep about every 10-15 seconds. All. Night. Long. Room was next to a parking lot, so many people walking by could see right in the window. There wasn’t much lighting in the room if the shades weren’t open. Additionally, there were no signs advising to always have your room key (or don’t shut your door) because you’ll be locked out. I got up around 10pm to use the bathroom, shut my bedroom door and was locked out of my room! Luckily, there is a landline phone in the kitchen with the number listed for the property manager. Unluckily, she didn’t answer. I tried calling probably 20 times, other residents used their mobiles to try and call or message her and she didn’t answer. One of the couples was able to “guess” the lock code on the closet cupboard in the kitchen, which thankfully had spare room keys, or I would’ve been stuck sleeping in the kitchen. I’d spent 10 days previous driving the Ring Road in a camper van. All I wanted was a restful night and had anything but that. 2.5/10 - do not recommend.

The room was comfortable and spacious; kitchen area was basic with a fridge, kettle, toaster, and microwave; bathroom was sufficient but could have used more than one for five rooms. It was a cozy place though and we would stay again!

Gut gelegen, trotz Laugavegur Nähe noch relativ ruhig. Zimmer mit Waschbecken und Heizung ging auch. Gemeinschaftsbad war ok, wusste ich ja vorher. Was mir nicht gefällt waren die extrem lauten Türen beim Öffnen und Schließen.

Two nights in Reykjavik
Nice and cute place in the heart of Reykjavik. Music festival next door was loud but more loud were the Icelanders who stayed in a room below us for that reason overall rating just ok.

This was one of the worst places I have ever stayed at. First of all, the listing is deceptive : the listing doesn’t specify that the bathroom is shared when it is. We specifically didn’t book somewhere else because we wanted a private bathroom. Second, the window to the room opens into a parking lot, so there is constant noise, including at 2-3am when drunk revelers are coming to get to their cars and are talking loudly. Third, the kind of people who stay at this property are young folks who are generally loud. There were three people staying in one of the rooms who came home drunk at 3am and woke up the whole house from sleep. These people tried to start a fight with another resident (from upstairs) when some of us asked them to keep quiet, and we were afraid of our physical safety at one point. Finally, I tried to contact the property manager MULTIPLE times during my stay (over email and over phone) and there are simply no reply from anyone.

Really sorry about this, I heard of this the day after. These guys where icelandic people and never will i rent to them again. It seems to be a problem with them in their own country.We are lucky with people and nothing likes this happens normally. Wow i was sad to hear this.

Very clean bedsheets, small room, location in the heart of the city. Each room too closely to eachother, I don't know how would be fully booked by guests.. Like the most of guesthouses in Reykjavik, just to spend the night and leave the next morning.

Great location. Ample interior space. The apartment is in the basement, though, so it’s dark. Biggest negative is that it could have been cleaner. The shower had visible mold.

Das Haus liegt sehr zentral.Ein altes Stadthaus, dadurch hellhörig.1Bad für 5 Zimmer grenzwertig. Haus steht im Hinterhof,nicht einfach zu finden.Öffnung mit Zahlenschloss. Bei uns war es relativ ruhig.Es gab Kaffee und Tee in der kleinen Küche.Öffentlicher Parkplatz hinterm Haus kostet 20€Tag, ab18 Uhr frei.Die Zimmer sind klein bei 2 Koffer auf dem Boden,aber der Preis ist OK

Stingy quarters
Clean but very stingy on amenities such as towels. We wondered if three was a towel shortage in the city! Simple things like a shelf in the shower could make a big difference but there isn't anywhere to place your hygiene products except by your feet. If more than one guest out gets steamy then musty and the floor becomes a puddle... again because of the towel issue Manager assured us there was available parking and we parked where she indicated. Walked out to a parking ticket in the morning so get a second opinion on where to put your car.

Iceland stay
Reasonable price and amenities. Significant drawback is one bathroom for all rooms, and was downstairs from our unit. Also, lots of stairs to haul luggage - no elevator.

The bed was extremely comfortable, and the windows open, which is important for my sleeping comfort. The location in downtown Reykjavik is fabulous, just one block off a main street, so easy walking distance to everything I needed, but not too much traffic noise. There were no amenities and the room was cheap, so I got exactly what I had wanted!

Perfect week in Iceland!
Me and my girlfriend had a great stay at Grettir Guesthouse. It was easy to find and when we arrived everywhere was very clean and tidy. The facilities worked perfectly with the bed being very comfy and the shower working very well. The location couldn't be better with the main road through the city centre literally on your doorstep close to the bars and restaurants. Despite being so close it was very quiet at night with Reykjavik being a quiet city. Also it was only a 5 minute walk to the supermarket and a 10 minute walk to the BSI bus terminal, where we booked most of our trips with Reykjavik Excursions. Would highly recommend Grettir Guesthouse for anyone wanting to stay in Reykjavik!
