I cannot review this property as, despite numerous confirmation bookings, they did not honour my reservation. Allegedly there were problems wtih some of the rooms, which they had ample opportunity to communicate to me prior to arrival but instead they waited until I arrived at 8pm, kept me hanging around for over an hour without any information, then told me to go to another hotel which they had booked which was a) vastly inferior quality and b) in a terrible location, when I had chosen the Mercure for its location. They arranged transport but no other recompense. They seemed unwilling to admit their problems and had no excuse for not notifying me of the issue in advance. Had they done so I would have cancelled the booking and left Sheffield earlier in the day. But at 8pm on arrival I had few options. Also, if they knew they had problems wiht the room before my arrival they could have arranged a solution ready for my arrival rather than having to ring round to find me a room at short notice. WHilst i accept problems happen their handling of it was inexcusable and unprofessional and thoughtless. I was considerably inconvenienced, they were disingenuous and uninformative and ill-prepared. I will never stay at a Mercure again.
