Wasn’t what we expected
The biggest turn off on this VRBO, is the horrible water smell. The futon couch in living room is very uncomfortable. The floor in bathroom and kitchen has a soft and sagging floor. Shower floor dips. It’s very outdated and quite run down. Didn’t realize there were no sheets or towels, so had to make a quick Target run. Also, there was nothing mentioned about two other homes being in such close proximity. The only positive is the location. Absolutely a beautiful view of the lake. Not worth the money, however. It definitely needs a major remodel.

Peaceful and relaxing vacation
The property on Lake Michigan was exactly what I expected from the online photos. It was a beautiful place to relax on the beach and enjoy the sunshine.The bonfire pit was a great addition for us to enjoy. The cottage was clean and gave a perfect amount of space for the size of my family. We are definitely going to come back next summer!

Great Location and Beautiful Beach
The location is fantastic with a beach that is one of the nicest I’ve ever encountered. The neighbors were friendly and everyone we spoke with agreed, this location is a hidden gem. The property itself however is a different story. The well water is unusually foul and a softner addition would be strongly encouraged. The cottage, unlike the photos is not a stand alone property, it is one of 3 on the same lot in close proximity. The building is cute, but in need of repairs. The shower is not supported adequately and the kitchen floor is not level, which prohibits the front door from shutting completely. The property has potential if updated and as mentioned, the beach is a thing of beauty. Kay is an accessible and patient host that exercised good communication.

Lovely sunny cottage
The sunny, cheerful cottage is on a quiet, tree-lined road just steps from a long sandy beach. Although this was our first stay at this property, my family has been vacationing on this beach for nearly 30 years. It's the most relaxing place in Door County! I would add a few minor "heads-up" for future guests: 1) the water has a strong sulfur odor. It's safe to drink, but I'd advise bringing bottled water. 2) The sleeping arrangements can be awkward for more than two adults. The double futon (comfortable) and king bed (very comfortable) are in the loft together, so no privacy if couples are vacationing together. My adult daughter and 5-year-old granddaughter slept one night on the fold- down sofa in living room, and found it very uncomfortable. It would probably be fine for one or two kids, but not for an adult. 3) The 3 cottages on the property are very close to one another. During our stay, a family with 4 large dogs occupied one of the other cottages. Fortunately the dogs were well-behaved, but our quiet beach vacation could have been ruined if they had been noisy or aggressive. Perhaps limiting the number of dogs that guests are allowed to bring to will help avoid potential unpleasantness. But aside from these few issues, our stay was very enjoyable and I would consider renting this cottage again.

The rental is so close to the beautiful lake with a gorgeous beach.
Terrific time. Booked for next year already. Only drawback is bed upstairs and bath downstairs. Oh and the hot water has sulfur smell. But bring water for drinking and enjoy!!! Outdoors are super!!!

Not what I expected for the weeklycost
The property didn’t have air conditioning. I didn’t know this at the time of making my selection. I also didn’t know that the house had well water as the water source. the rental property needs serious upgraded. The carpet in the living area room area seemed dirty enough not to walk on in bare feet. There were stains on the carpet upstairs as well. On day, while watching tv, by the way was really small, the house filled with nats. So much so that we spent hours killing them with a flyswatter. We also had to spray in scent spray to try to help with the insects. The fumes filled the room rapidly and made it hard to breath. In fact, I started to feel sick from the fumes. The screens in a couple rooms were ajar and or the frames was bent which allowed the nats to fill the. Entire rental property. The front door screen had gaps which also allowed indents to enter the property. In order to stay at the property, we had to keep all the windows closed, which was unpleasant due to the heat from the outside temperatures. I tried to locate another place to stay with no prevail. It was to stick it out or go home at this point. Beside all this, there was no TV service in the bedroom, the TV would only get channel 73, which was the channel to get satellite tv, however, there was no box to get the satellite to come on. I was able to contact the property owner via your app, however, her solution was to send someone the next day which only brought us another can of insect spray. I showed the lady the problems that Needed to be addressed to resolve the issue in which she said she would contact the owner Overall, the stay was unpleasant to say the least. I spent a lot of money for a property that didn’t fulfill my expectations. I was very disappointed with this property, and will think twice before using VBRO in the future, unless I fully understand what to expect on the property listing.

Great beach access, close neighbors
This was a beautiful stretch of Lake Michigan. In the pictures the cottage appears to stand alone. There are 2 other houses within 15 feet that are also rented out. If they are playing music, you are going to hear it.

Relaxation
Overall, the little cottage was as expected. It was quiet and just the right size for my husand and me. We had our small dachsund with us so it was nice to have an abode that would allow pets. The beach was wonderful and right out the door. It was close to the towns and in a location that was accessible to everything we wanted to see.

Great little cottage
We did not realize that there were three cottages on the property, but it wasn’t an issue for us we bought our dog it was wonderful having the beach right there to go and take long walks. Cottage was very comfortable and clean our only real issue was the smell of the water in the cottage so we brought our own drinking water with and it wasn’t an issue. All in all it would come back and stay again it’s the perfect little spot in door County

Fantastic location! Properties leave little to be desired.
I rented two of the properties located next door to one another for a large family gathering. We had a fantastic time - the location is amazing. It's across a quiet street, just a hop, skip and a jump away from a beach, beach fire pit and lake! The properties themselves are not well maintained. I'm not a super picky person - I can overlook cobwebs and dust. However, broken screens that let in mosquitos, leaking (puddle) toilets that create a slipping hazard, mold in bathrooms, leaking fridge and no window air conditioning units is a bit of a let down. I'm also not a fan of having to provide all the linens for the stay. Overall, great family getaway if the weather allows you to spend the majority of time on the beach/lake!

Quaint & Cozy
The rental process was easy. The cottage was clean. The location directly across from the lake & a lovely beach was perfect. We enjoyed privacy, although as others have mentioned there are three cottages on the property & they are all within several yards of each other. Nobody else was staying in them while we were there, but I can imagine that might get crowded. WiFi allowed us to use our electronics just fine. The drive to ‘town’ was a quick 5-7 min drive, very convenient. Our only major concern was the sulfur scent of the well water. That made showering & dishes very unpleasant. We had brought a couple gallons of water, so we used that for cooking & drinking. Otherwise, we would definitely stay again. Being able to have our pup with us was most of the fun too - thank you for being pet-friendly! He had the best time at the lake.

This cottage with lake view is perfect for any family with a four-leg furry family member as it is pet friendly. Beautiful place to stay. The property was clean, kitchen equipped with oven and all the menaje necessary, we had a wonderful time there I will be back soon 👌👍😍

Not private, multiple properties on site
My biggest issue is that it is not noted in this listing anywhere, that this property is one of three on a very small lot. One house was quite and the other was NOT. The larger house holds up to 16 people and it was full. There was always between 7 and 11 children present roaming the property. The small beach was consistently packed and not largeenough for three rentals. My family left and drove to another beach for space and peace. I could not sit quietly in chairs in the yard as the neighboring children used it for play. I get kids need to play. I also love children. But dont advertise this as seemingly remote and peaceful. It is not. You are at the mercy of what rents on either side of you. Water in the home absolutely REEKS of rotten eggs. Yard was never mowed, grass was very tall. Firepit was filled to the brim wuth sand. Chairs broken and taped back together on the beach. So glad to be going home.

It wasn’t vacuumed. The shower wasn’t washed since there was a bar of soap residue and a razor cover left in shower. Toilet felt like it was going to fall through the floor and same with the shower. The shower head is broke and had no water pressure. Fridge was dirty. Paid almost $1,000 and we had to bring all bedding, towels, etc but it’s alright to use their couch and dressers and plates…..

We enjoyed the property. It is very old with uneven floors. Bathroom needs work, could not get the t.v. to work and needs a new coffee pot. The views are amazing and the beds upstairs were comfortable.

Lack of Communication and in need of Repairs
The property is in a great location and was very clean. However, before our stay I contacted the owner twice and did not receive a reply regarding either message. The home itself is in need of repair. The shower floor is rotting out, the carpet is thin and carpet tacks can be felt when walking on the stairs. On our last night we got locked out of the property. We called the owner (there is no local property management). She did not call back until the following day. We had to break into the property by removing a screen. Very disappointing!

October Stay-cation
The cottage was cute and suited my needs. Lake Michigan was just steps away, and I could hear the waves with the windows open. It was rainy, windy and cold, and I was so glad I had a warm cottage to return to, at the end of the day.

Quaint Cottage
Upon arrival we weren't expecting the close proximity to other cottages/cabins, but it was fine. All was quiet. Entering the cottage it was chilly but once we figured out the heating it warmed up nicely. The water is a little stinky; common with wells, not a big deal, just light a candle. This cabin is perfect for couples or small families. The shore wasn't as pictured, but I understand it is ever changing, we did however enjoy it despite getting a tad wet due to the increasing waves. We found it. invigorating. Would definatley recommend a stay here.

As Close to The Lake as You Can Get!
This was so incredibly close to Lake Michigan, it was just what we needed. Kay was great to remedy the small hiccups, and made the stay great. We truly enjoyed the time at the Lake, and were blessed to have great weather, so we didn't have to stay inside too long. Beware though of the soft sub flooring around the toilet and by the shower - hopefully they get that fixed. Neighborhood was great, no noise, just peace - and that is what we needed.

This location right across from lake with sandy beach is beautiful. Less than 15 minute drive from downtown Sturgeon Bay. Downsides: very musty smell in bathroom and kitchen drawers, well water has an odor, we used bottled water for everything. Cottage is among 3 on property, so you will be sharing the beach and the lot if the other houses are booked at the same time. All in all, this cottage is certainly nothing fancy but provided us with a great spot for an enjoyable family getaway.

much needed get-away
This is a lovely cottage with a view of the lake and only steps away from the beach. It's in a quiet community along the lake shore. It is close to some local hiking trails as well as an easy drive to a number of state parks on the peninsula. It was perfect for a few days of relaxation. The only complaint was spotty wifi and cell service, but I'm not sure that was actually a negative for getting away for a few days.

Mixed review- great place with a big drawback
This cottage primarily met our needs for a socially distanced week right on the shore of Lake Michigan. The location is excellent -- just steps away from a beach. I do think there are too many people on a small lot -- when I rented the cottage, it did not indicate in the listing that it is one of three on the property, and they are quite close to each other. We were only two people, but at one point there were more than 12 people combined in the other two cottages and it became crowded on the lot itself. I do not think there should be so many people on this lot at one time. While I was very satisfied with the location and the cottage was absolutely fine for two of us, I probably would not rent this place again. It is true that the owner told me in a phone conversation that there are three cottages on the property, but I would not have known it from the listing, and I had already paid. And she did not indicate that the other two cottages are considerably bigger than the one we rented and there might be so many people on the property all at once. So while it suited our needs well this was a major drawback for me and would give me pause in renting again.

Beautiful location, comfortable cottage. My only complaint is that there are 2 other cottages that share the beachfront so it was sometimes hard to get out to the beach. But it was still worth it I would definitely stay again.

Great cabin right by the lake- my kids had a blast running across the street to the beach and building sand castles and skipping stones. Cabin was clean and comfortable and staff was very friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again.

Trying to get a refund on a property that I didn't rent!!!
Somehow I was charged for 2 properties! The homeowner of both properties told me I would be refunded for the one property I didn't rent and that's not happening! And the place was rented out to other people so she received double the money on that property! Not very good business!

We got mushrooms.
Overall our stay was nice but the placed smelled very musty. They must have known it was a problem because the windows were open when we checked in and it was a cold day. As we did our first walk through we found a mushroom growing in our bathroom. Not exactly the kind of roommate we expected. The bathroom was in need up some cleaning and updating. Great location very quiet but the cabin could use some help. We didn’t spend much time here because of the smell.

Memorial Day Weekend
Awesome stay. Fires on the beach and the dog got to swim every day. Not too far to the town and easy drive to other towns. The only thing I would suggest is bring your own drinking water. I’m sure it is safe but tastes funny due to it probably being on a well.

Charming cabin in a great location
This was our first family trip to Door County, and the location of this cottage right across the road from the lake did not disappoint. The smallest of the three rentals on the property, this cabin was the perfect size for our crew of two adults and two medium-sized dogs. The views were terrific when we walked along the wooded lake road and the beach during the day, and at night stargazing and listening to the sounds of the waves helped us unwind after our adventures. Kay was easy to get a hold of and responded quickly to a question we had during our stay. The amenities were what we expected with the exception of the bathroom, which is in need of an update. Overall, this cottage was a great place for us to relax while taking in the natural beauty of Door County. Plus, downtown Sturgeon Bay is just a short drive away!

Great location but would not stay again
The cottage was in a great location and a very friendly neighborhood. The cottage is located right across from the beach so it is about a 30-second walk in order to get to the water. The cottage was cozy and had plenty of room for me, my wife and our dog. The bed was comfortable and the space was good. However, the bathroom was moldy, the toliet is not stable, the shower has a lot of yellow stains and when you turn on the water to take a shower, it has a terrible rotten egg smell. The TV also did not work while we were there. We contacted the owner about the TV and where to put towels when we checked out, and she never got back to us. If you do come and stay here make sure you bring shower shoes to take a shower. We came in the fall and realized that this cottage has no central heat, but it has baseboard heaters that work, but they take a while to warm up. We loved the location, and would look to stay in this neighborhood again, just not at this cottage.

Quiet getaway

Fantastic location, awesome beach, great place for stargazing!
Awesome property so close to Lake Michigan. Excellent beach that the dogs loved. Met some lovely fellow renters, awesome time making s’mores on the beach and stargazing. No cellphone coverage so great for the away from it all experience, and slightly temperamental satellite TV which really helps you focus on making new friends, great conversations and excellent local wine. The only negative was the bed, we found the mattress soft and uncomfortable...but that’s a personal choice! Overall the property was the perfect size for the two of us and our two Goldendoodle’s.

Kay is very nice and easy to work with. The location is great as it is very close to the water for walks along the beach but those were the only positives for me. The cottage itself is out dated. The windows going to the loft did not close so we had to climb the ladder we found out back and push them closed. The sheets for the pull out beds were not very clean, one of them had some sort of sticky stuff on it. The floor in the bathroom had soft spots and the shower doors did not work well. The blinds on the windows were broken on some. For the money I expected more. It also states that it slept 4 but the arrangements are not very good if you have teenagers. There is a futton down stairs and then a full size bed and futton up stairs. This particular cottage is very small. The parking is limited and if both of the other places are rented it is hard to get in and out from this one as it sits toward the back of the lot. There are 2 other cottages that looked bigger and may have been better to stay in. I might choose one of those but would not stay in this one again.

Nice clean place to stay-nothing too fancy but you cannot beat the location!
We had a wonderful time at the cottage! Literally steps from the beach and at times it feels like your own private beach. My 3 yr old son and mini dachshund had the time of their lives! About 15 mins from town, so convenient to grab dinner or food. Such a great family trip!

Our cottage was roomie enough for 6 of us. It was great having the beach right across the street,that is, when the vacationers from the other two houses on the property weren’t taking up the beach. Overall a decent stay despite vying for beach space.

Cozy cottage right on the lake michigan!
There was some confusion with the property manager about which cottage was the one we were staying in, but that got straightened out and Kay refunded us the cleaning fee with the mix up and the fact that linens had been left because they the cleaning crew thought we were staying in the other house. But once that was settled it was great, we could walk right on to the beach which was very private. We had all we needed and there was wifi so we had phone service with no problem! The property was nicely decorated and the landscape around was beautiful. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Door County!

We had a fabulous time in Sturgeon Bay. We couldn't have picked a better time as weather was great and traffic wasn't bad. The cottage was very close to the beach and was very clean. Everything we needed was in the cottage, and the cottage was very close to town. Overall, we had great time! Loved it!

The cottage is in a remote & nature setting with easy access to the beach. Lake Michigan is great.
We were immediately impressed with the plastered walls and ceilings. The beach has nice soft sand. If the refrigerator noise is fixed then it is an excellent vacation stay. The pleasant comfortable temperature due to the lake is superb.

Overpriced
The location is beautiful. However, the property is not well maintained. The cottage has a mildew problem. There were discarded appliances and wood stacked up against the back of the house. There were two other cottages located within twenty feet. The lack of WiFi, no DVD player and no USP port in the TVs would be fine, but not at the rental price. The property would be more fairly and comparably priced at $900 for a week rental.

Nice location
The cottage is small but functional and clean and has the essentials available. Unfortunately, the other two houses on the property were rented by a family group, so there wasn't any privacy. We did love walking on the beach with our dog. Note the lack of wifi or cell service. I had a family emergency while there and had to drive several miles to get a phone signal any time I wanted to check in. It also made it hard to do research about the area.
