“The property was about as close to Big Bend NP as we could get. The view from the front porch was spectacular (especially at sunrise) and the night sky was incredible. We even saw a small herd of javelinas on the property as we were leaving. The property itself satisfied our needs. The owners gave us great directions to this remote location and tips on what to wear and what supplies to bring. Overall a great experience!”

“Enjoyed the space we had for 10 guests. Everything was clean but for the pots, pans & dish wear (at least to our standards), we didn't mind washing everything before we used the items. Hosts were most generous with all the supplies and linens left for the guests. We also liked the proximity of the grocery store and gas station, even though we only used once. Hosts gave excellent pre stay instructions which we followed specially the notes on shopping in Alpine before arrival, Lowes Grocery store...

“Overall, the place was really awesome. It had everything we needed + it was close to all the attractions in Terlingua and one of the park entrances. The only semi-negative is that neighbors are close by. They aren’t loud or anything but I thought the property would be a little more secluded.”

The drive to Big Bend is around 40 minutes making this location a good spot for travelers to the park. The retreat is fully equipped and we recommend a stop to Alpine for supplies before arriving. “Rarely does anything, any place or anyone OVER-deliver on a promise but the Star Gazer does. The deck cooking area and banos with showers inside and out were my favorite part. The Airstream itself is cozy and clean and the expansive view was life affirming. We had one tiny problem when we arrived but the host picked up our call and quickly talked us through it. I’m giving five stars only because I can’t give 6.”

“We really enjoyed Casa Mariposa. Perfect for a couple. Good location with several good restaurants within a mile or two. The Starlight Theatre, Bar and Grill has amazing food, and we caught some great live music when there. The bed was really comfortable, which is a must after a full day of hiking.
