This is a hotel with enormous potential. It is grandiose with sweeping views but needs some love; it gives the impression of being run on a reduced budget (which may be the case); the clean essentials, nice staff, big room and facilities.
I chose it because of its proximity to the Capodimonte museum. However this proved to be less an advantage than expected—but don't blame the hotel for that. The Grand has to be considered in conjoint with the city. New visitors to Naples must first rid themselves of the idea of being mugged or robbed. As we gained confidence maneuvering the streets and squares we more and more appreciated the working people's vivacity and friendliness and the excellent qualities of a rundown but truly fascinating city.
Go there. Enjoy it. The hotel is fine, a little distant, but the bus (R4) goes right there frequently from the center of town. I would return.

"a very special experience in the heart of Naples"
very clean converted monastery directly close to lots of interesting historical sites with very welcoming staff, very helpful with booking taxis and info about activities and safety in the local area of the Sanita, one of Naples poor, but most lively and characterful neighbourhoods

Beautiful, calm and peaceful in one of the few green areas in the city of Naples. It is nestled in an area the city just far away from the madness of Naples, but near enough to get there easily by the hotel shuttle or taxi. The roof terrace was another pleasant area of the hotel to relax in, the internal phone enabling the ordering of snacks and drinks. The terrace views were of Vesuvious and the surrounding Naples area. The food exceeded our expectations as we had been in Italy a week by now and found the choice limited. The hotel restaurant offered a wide choice at a reasonable price. The breakfast comprised of a varied selection of fruit, cereals, sweet pastries and savouries etc. The staff were helpful, courteous and friendly, the majority competent in English. Overall a beautiful, relaxing stay that enabled us to see the sights but relax afterwards away from the madness of the city.

Driving up to the hotel, first time in Naples it is a shock as the area is littered with garbage and the building is very old. You need to be fit to carry luggage up the many steps to arrive at the boutique hotel lobby. Only six rooms, all modernized and well kept by the housekeeper and manager. Breakfast provided either in the courtyard or large modern common room. Ceilings are fresco from when this was a Count's palace in 1700's. View of the street you can watch the comings and goings in a small area of Napoli. Close to restaurants and museum. A gem. Grazie.

This is the place to stay in Naples. Angelo and Dario (who speaks English) are the perfect hosts. They were warm, welcoming, attentive and gracious. Dario was always available for suggestions for sites and restaurants, and helpful with directions. As for the B&B, it was, most definitely, the cleanest place I ever stayed in (to include 5 star hotels!). The place was spotless. My room was comfortable, the bed was cozy and plenty of hot water with great pressure. If you are bothered by the street noise, as some people have complained about, just close the big wooden shutters! Breakfast was also more than adequate. Selections included two types of cereals, rolls, fresh brioche, fresh chocolate croissants, butter, jams, two juices and your choice of coffee. Angelo's cappuccino was the best!
The location was good with many mini-markets nearby, as well as deli's, fresh produce and take away restaurants. The Bank of Napoli has an ATM down the street, where there was also tons of stores for purchasing just about anything you may want. The historic center, where many sites are located, was about a 10 minute walk. The metro was also about a 5 minute walk away. It truly was the perfect place to stay. I plan to return here for an extended visit in the future. And if you decide to visit, say hello to Bernie (the canary). He will sing every morning for you!
