Looks can be deceiving
We stayed at Malmaison for 1 night when touring around Scotland by car. At first impression this hotel looks very chic and modern with all the mod cons you would expect. But when looking at the details it does not really live up to the "luxury" image it wants to obtain. Firstly it is located by a very busy road and it is quite a hike from central Aberdeen (30 min by foot). When arriving we got the information that we got "upgraded" to a superior room but in reality that meant we got a bigger room as it was wheelchair friendly ie. near the lifts and on the second floor. At first glance everything looked nice when we arrived there but when switching on the lights and checking the bathroom it wasn't. I don't know what happened with the cleaning because the bathroom was everything from spotless: make-up residue on the walls and wet(somewhat dirty) tiles near the toilet with all nobs and switches smudgy. It made me wonder whether this room had already been left to someone else but then they had changed their mind.But being tired from sitting in the car all day we hadn't the energy to fuss about these things to reception as we were only staying there one night. Considering the room the lighting was far from adequate, I counted to 3 halogen spotlights to a room which was 35 sq.m, so if you didn't have daylight coming in you could not see to read or do anything. The breakfast was alright but nothing out of the ordinary. So all in all this hotel was acceptable but nothing more.

Trevligt hotell
Hotellet har ganska höga ambitioner men når inte helt i mål. Servicen haltar något. Vi var två i rummet men det fanns bara ett set handdukar.... Dag två efter att rummet städats fanns inga handdukar alls . Vi ringde receptionen och bad om handdukar. Jag poängterade att jag stod i duschen ville ha handdukar omgående. Det tog 20 minuter- att få ett set handdukar. Vi ringde receptionen och bad om ett set till eftersom vi fortfarande var två personer i rummet. Det tog nästan lika lång tid. Personalen i restaurangen var serviceminded till frukost men totalt oorganiserade. En av familjemedlemmarna är laktos och glutenintolerant. Det fanns inget soyayoghurt, mjölkfritt smör etc och få glutenfritt bröd tog en evighet. Varje hotell med lite ambitioner har alternativ för båda numer vanliga intoleranser. Samma känsla till middagen- tjänstvilligt och trevligt bemötande men brist på organisation och utbud sänker upplevelsen. Till det positiva med hotellet hör det lugna läget en bit utan för citykärnan. Sköna sängar i ett generöst, välutrustat och genomtänkt rum. Saknade absolut inget i rummet. Väldigt väl städat överallt på hotellet. Extra plus för trevlig bar med kompetent och välorganiserad personal.

The hotel staff were very welcoming from our first interaction. Our room was sizeable, with a comfy bed and quiet. We had the breakfast in the morning which is always tasty.

Great place just let down on a couple of details
Staff all very good and enjoyed or stay, only negatives were that in one of our Rooms the Top sheet had dog paw prints all over it ( hence knowing down mark on cleanliness) and unfortunately a little bit of a muck up on a room service order.

We had the Slains suite over hogmanay for a couple of nights. Really impressive room and facilities. Room wasn't ready upon arrival but we were given two free drinks then in the room within 40mins, so not too bad. Staff couldn't be nicer, I had an issue with a fan/vibration noise throughout the stay henve marked down slightly. The staff apologised and told me there are workmen due out, plus suites will be upgraded soon...although really nice as they are so we'll return once they are refreshed. Enjoyed listening to the boats sounding their horns at the bells, standing on the balcony. Restaurant food and breakfast great quality too. Once again staff really fab!

Great hotel, excellent service, very comfy beds
I've stayed in Malmaison up and down Scotland and always have a great stay. Their beds are great with top quality linen so always have a great sleep. The last twice I've stayed (Edinburgh & Aberdeen) they have given me complimentary free room upgrades, which have been very much appreciated. In particular, the room in Aberdeen last night was fantastic (room 210). I look forward to many more stays at Malmaison properties.

Great hotel with friendly staff, good quality restaurant and nice bar. Ideally located for meetings with nearby companies during my stay. Club room was perfect for my business stay and the staff were helpful in securing the same room as I had to extend my stay for extra nights. The hotel is about a 30 minute walk to the city centre or 5 minute taxi journey, but the quality of the accommodation makes it worth the extra effort.

The place to stay in Aberdeen.
The Malmaison is always our go to stay in Aberdeen. Outstanding in every way from check-in to check-out. Staff are very friendly, helpful and welcoming. Our suite was clean and luxurious, meals are very good, and one of the comfiest beds I've slept in. Had many stays now and simply can't find fault. Nice quite area 10mins walk, few mins drive from city centre and all amenities. Very reasonable price for the quality of accommodation. Highly recommended.

The hotel is with easy walking distance of the city centre and has a large carpark at the rear. Although the hotel is in the heart of Aberdeen it is very quiet.

This is a lovely hotel with very friendly staff. Shame the gym is below what would be expected of a hotel of this status, but overall a very enjoyable stay.
