We enjoyed a weeks family holiday (six adults, three children). The villa was easily large enough for us without ever feeling cramped. The outdoor space is great with a decent sized pool, sun loungers and a brick barbecue.
Things To Do
We had a vehicle for the week which gave us a lot of freedom. We visited Vilamoura a couple of times. The marina area is nice but expensive compared to the older parts of the area, especially if you walk a minute off the main routes. Family Golf Park was good fun and there are a couple of tourist trains which will get you round. You can pick one of them up near the Hilton Hotel which is about 20 minutes walk from the villa.
Food
Within walking distance of the villa is an amazing bakery (out of the villa, turn right to the bottom of the hill, turn right and keep walking). Don't leave without getting the Portuguese custard tarts!!! For other meals, Browns Sports Bar (out of the villa, turn right and walk for about 10 minutes) had decent food, friendly staff and lots of sport on the TV! 15 minutes left out of the villa is 'Cafe del Art' where we had a delicious meal. Recommend you book in advance though as we couldn't get in when we went for a return visit :(
A bit further afield, Restaurante Gamboa in Almancil was the best meal we had all holiday and incredible value for money.
Shops
The nearest (and cheapest) large supermarket is Continente but you need a vehicle to get there. There is a Spar about 20 minutes walk from the villa (past Browns and turn right at the roundabout) but we though it was expensive.
Great area for families and couples alike. Locals were all friendly and if you get away from the touristy bits, great value. You can have a great mix of doing and relaxing. Would recommend without hesitation.
