The staff were very friendly. On my check out day they sorted my breakfast early for me. They spoke good English and were very helpful regarding my onward travel.

Comfy stay in good location
Very good location in the walled city. Ample free parking. Hotel staff were very kind and helpful. Bathroom was spacious with plenty of storage space for toothbrush, razor, etc. as in Europe in general, the beds had too many heavy layers, but they were otherwise comfortable. Enough restaurants located nearby, but not so many grocery stores. Price was higher than other hotels in Portugal, but staying here put you just steps away from the fortifications, so it was worth it.

Un establecimiento como los paradores en España.
Una estancia agradable en una ciudad bonita. En el mes de marzo no hay turistas en dias de diario, pero eso hizo que pudieramos disfrutar del hotel y de la ciudad.

Could not rate this hotel highly enough! We were remembered from a one night stay last November, and warmly greeted. We never seem to have time to linger and discover the history, as its either our first or last night between the Algarve and the French ferry, but the walled city was a defence against the French and the Spanish. Being just across the border into Portugal, there is an hour to be gained (or lost), can be useful. Beds were great - food excellent. Excellent value for money, and a Portuguese hospitality! Enjoy, we did.

AMAZING LOCTION
Warm welcome, staff very helpful. Room huge with balcony overlooking the village. Bed also huge and comfy as was the en-suite. Super breakfast however fruit not fresh. We did not use the restaurant as a bit over-priced compared with local restaurants and bars. Lovely veranda with views across Alto Plano beyond the fortress walls. Only criticism is a bit dated for the price and the balcony screen was warped and did not open fully,

Tolles Hotel in schöner Ambiente
Ich war am 9.3.2013 in besagten Hotel und kann dies uneingeschränkt empfehlen. Almeida ist für einen Tagestrip perfekt. Das Hotel ist sehr hochwertig ausgestattet, das Essen ist sehr gut und die Mitarbeiter(innen) sind hochprofessionell.

Désertiques ! Nous étions les seuls clients le 1er jour, le restaurant nous a paru bien triste et bien onéreux par rapport aux prix portugais des autres restaurants. Petit déjeuner copieux mais café détestable.

uma das aldeias históricas que andei a visitar
Foi um visita fantástica. Precisava de relaxar e, depois de dias agitados a percorrer as aldeias históricas, era bom regressar a Almeida e saber que ia ficar muito bem, num ambiente calmo, belo e relaxante.

a fine, if slightly dated, hotel in a good location. The staff were all very attentive - even moving our dinner table nearer to the TV for the football match!
