Vill man bo i en liten by som lyckats behÄlla sin spanskhet, trots nÀrheten till solkusten, sÄ Àr detta ett bra alternativ. Du kan ta dig med tÄg till och frÄn Malaga, eller hyr en bil och gör Àventyr. LÀgenheten Àr jÀttefin och har en fantastisk utsikt. De bÄda terrasserna alternerar med sol och skugga sÄ du har alltid nÄgon att sitta pÄ. LÀgenheten Àr mycket bra utrustad och kÀnns som ett hem. Dessutom gör vÀrdparet allt för att du ska trivas. De finns ocksÄ till hands om du undrar över nÄgot. Vi har bara bra att sÀga om detta - förutom att vi (men det Àr vi det) tyckte att sÀngarna var lite för hÄrda.

The property was exactly as shown. Helen and Steve responded immediately when I misplaced the instructions for entering the property. They had left several items for our enjoyment and supplies. The property was very close to the centre of Alora.There were several pamphlets for attractions near by. We really enjoyed our stay.

We stayed just one night. The view is amazing - the castle on the hill opposite is stunning. The apartment was super clean and they kindly left some goodies for us in the fridge. Everything about the apartment and communicating with the host went perfectly. We had a mid-size SUV, though, and I (foolishly!) drove right to the place and was able to park in the garage. Unless you are very comfortable driving in very close quarters or are driving a friend's car (!), I don't recommend it. Numbers of turns, and especially backing into the garage was very tight. Park at the square and walk down. All around, we had a great stay here.

Unfortunately coronaviris shortened our stay , but everything in Alora was wonderful! Helen & Steve were the consummate hosts from the arrival to the departure and in between. The penthouse is beautiful, clean, sunny with all amenities. An ideal place to stay to enjoy Alora Spain and all of its offerings.

We would like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to Helen and Steve for making our stay at their penthouse apartment in Alora so special. They go above and beyond to make sure your stay there is perfect. From being collected at the train station to being dropped off there for the return journey home and assisting us with booking tickets to Caminito del Rey and helping with medical issues they were absolute stars. The penthouse is so well equipped and they even provided us with a most generous welcome pack that they tailored to our choice. Once again a huge thank you Helen and Steve. Everything about this stay was perfect. From the booking process through the stay and even a lively goodbye from the owners. From the outset the owners were kind and thoughtful, even providing a tailor made welcome package for us. The apartment was exactly as advertised and more, many extra touches like candles, extensive toiletries and a well equipped kitchen. Álora itself has lots of bars and restaurants of all types and a good base to explore the region either by car or train. We had a fabulous 2 weeks and look forward to returning for another visit.

The apartment was lovely, attractive and extremely well equipped with the most superb view overlooking the village and the castle. It is quite hilly. The Spanish are friendly, gregarious and out and about all the time. We hired a car for a week from Gerry who was very helpful and informative, actually taking us from the other car park to the station so that we would know the way. We enjoyed travelling by train and visited a few places, including Malaga twice as we really liked it. We visited the supermarkets and cooked some of our meals (though not the barbecue, it was never the rigtht weather) which seemed quite cheap and eat out at the Chinese restaurant (very good), the Indian (good but a little expensive), and the expensive one along the road (did not enjoy, my pork was pretty rare). We enjoyed pottering around the village and sitting in the Squares having a drink. Helen and Steve were very helpful at all times, responding quickly to any queries.

The apartment is very well equipped and spotless. Great terraces, providing all day sunshine. Great central location in the town, but tucked away in a quiet spot. We used the garage at the apartment block. Fortunately we had a Fiat 500, as the roads are narrow, very narrow in places. We travelled to Malaga for a day trip and used the excellent train service from the town. All in all, we had a great time and are already planning a return visit next year.

If you want to experience a real Andalucian village and feel like a local - away from the crowds and tourists then Alora is for you. Just a half hour train journey from Malaga Airport - it is easy to get to and when your hosts meet you at the station in Alora it couldn’t be simpler. Helen and Steve are wonderful hosts and from the moment you meet them you realise how passionate they are about the business they run - it really is a labour of love. On our way to our apartment we were given a whistle stop tour of our surroundings before arriving at the penthouse - accessed by the lift that can only take you to the 3rd Floor by key. The apartment is spacious and well equipped both internally and on the large balcony together with wonderful almost 360 views! Something you never get bored of waking up to. No car is required as train/buses are nearby. A trip to Malaga is a must - we also spent a day in Ronda - it would be good to stay overnight here as plenty to see and do and it’s a one and a half hour train journey. Plenty of shops in Alora within easy walking distance - a large supermarket where you can stock up and a super shopping trolley which enables you to transport your shopping back to the apartment quite easily. Also great to visit the local butchers/ fishmongers/ bakeries and small grocers to try out your Spanish (in our case very limited!) Very good choice of Restaurants/Tapas Bars - Bar Marin Fish Restaurant an absolute must - no need to dress up - quite basic but fantastic food and not at all expensive. Try out the tapas in the local bars and mingle with the locals who are very friendly and don’t seem to mind our lame attempts at communication! To summarise a great apartment with exceptional hosts - absolutely nothing is too much trouble (we embarrassingly also locked ourselves out and Steve came to our rescue!). Helen and Steve’s aim is solely to ensure that your holiday is one to remember for all the right reasons! DEFINITELY ONE TO VISIT Thank you Helen and Steve! When I entered the penthouse directly from the lift, I thought wow how private. The penthouse was well equipped and very clean and tasteful. The sun terrace is absolutely amazing with stunning views of the castle, churches, the beautiful white washed village and the rolling hills. Waking up every morning to the birds singing and the cockerels chanting was just wonderful. We really enjoyed our stay, my partner has visited this penthouse on three previous occasions with friends and was excited fir me to experience this beautiful place. We shall certainly return.

Loved the area for good quality walking. Trains make access to Malaga and other resorts easy. Apartment lived up to the reviews and did not fail to deliver. The welcome hamper provided is the best we have ever had and took some pressure off that first night. Lovely hosts who meet and greet and. Show you around.

Alora is accessible by rail from Malaga Airport. It is also possible to visit Sevilla, CĂłrdoba and Ronda by train. Use of a garage is included in the rental but the streets are narrow and not for the faint hearted driver! Best to use the car park on the edge of town. Alora is also handy for the Caminto del Rey. The owners are very helpful with nothing being a bother to them. The welcome hamper lasted us all week.

We stayed in Helen and Steve's lovely penthouse apartment for a week, and found it was the perfect place to explore the region. The apartment had everything we needed - a comfortable bed, awesome south-facing deck overlooking the town and the castle, and a well-kitted out kitchen, located in the heart of Alora. Restaurants and shops were a block away, and we enjoyed exploring the winding hill town and day trips to the "Caminito del Rey" (a spectacular walk along a boardwalk suspended from the mountainside), the ancient town of Antequerra, hiking through the interesting rock formations in "El Torcal" park, as well as day trips to the Costa del Sol. Malaga is an easy train ride away (35 minutes). Helen and Steve were absolutely wonderful hosts - they provided an excellent customized welcome pack of kitchen provisions, gave us helpful recommendations, and responded immediately when we accidentally locked ourselves out. We would recommend this apartment to friends and family - it is a "find"!

We werden door de eigenaren van het pentbouse opgehaald vanaf een voor ons makkelijk te bereiken parkeerplaats, waarna we het stadje werden rondgereden en werden gewezen op voor ons mogelijk interessante zaken. In het huis troffen we een goedgevulde koelkast en een mand met allerlei lekkere dingen. Na een heerlijk verblijf werden we ook weer opgehaald en naar de parkeerplaats gebracht. Een erg aan te bevelen vakantiehuis!

Denne lejlighed kan kun anbefales! Allerede fra fÞrste kontakt med vÊrtsparret fÞler man sig budt velkommen. Vi var et par, sÄ lejligheden var mere end rigelig stor. De to dejlige tagterrasser er et ekstra plus. Lejligheden er ren og velholdt, og der er alt fra morgenkÄber til saks og kikkert. Hvis man gerne vil sove med dÞrene Äbne, sÄ medbring et par Þrepropper - byens hunde holder ofte koncert. Gode tog- og busforbindelser til omegnen og til Malaga. "Casa Nelly" lige udenfor byen ved den store parkeringsplads er et godt spisested.

The Penthouse is in an excellent position in this delightful Spanish hill town. Just forget about getting your car closer than the town car park (8 mins walk away) and live like a local, walking everywhere - there is even a shopping trolley provided for you. It is the best equipped rental with lots of items you never realised you would want. We stayed for 5 weeks and enjoyed every minute - even coping with some torrential rain! Our fitness improved greatly walking up and down the hilly streets. Plenty of eating and drinking places close by. Good day trips can be taken to Ronda, Antequera and Malaga and lots of nearby small towns and villages. We asked to be left to our own devices regarding cleaning etc but it was great to know that we could call on Helen and Steve for any problems or advice and when we did, their response was swift. If you want a taste of real Spain then this is the place for you.

This apartment in Alora is truly beautiful, with two terraces providing views of the castle and the white town below. The apartment is well-appointed, and Helen and Steve are very helpful. The guest is even provided with a welcome basket with items of their choice - wine, coffee, cheese, bottled water, etc. Alora is well situated for day trips to towns like Malaga, Cordoba, etc. Highly recommended apartment.

We had a very good holiday at the penthouse apartment. it was very clean and well maintained, a home from home with everything you required for self catering. Helen and Steve are a lovely couple and if you needed anything you only had to call and your query would be answered. We would highly recommend this apartment to friends and family.
