Eclipse trip
We had a great time! The cottage is beautiful, the scenery is fantastic, and Dorothy was kind. The viewing deck overlooking the river is very relaxing. One caution: The walk up from the river is a heart-pumping experience.

The property was very clean and well kept. Owners were very nice and attentive. Mrs. Dorothy even stopped by for a visit and brought us homemade bread she had made! The only issue was how hot the cabin was on arrival, which we are in a heat advisory and this year it has been hotter than any of us are used to, so it took awhile for the air conditioning units to cool the place down but once it caught up we had no complaints! Would definitely book again!

Secluded Getaway for couple
The host was kind and the location is very private with beautiful scenery. The king size bed was incredibly comfortable! Our only complaint was how warm the home was. Because itโ€™s a large open space with high ceilings, the window units cannot keep up with the Southโ€™s summer temperatures and the size of the cabin. Heat rises, so the upstairs bedroom especially took time to cool off. Youโ€™re better off staying gone all day on the river and coming back at night if you typically โ€œrun hotโ€ like we do. FYI for anyone with small children, the journey to the river from the property would be a challenge. We did enjoy our stay in spite of the temperature, but itโ€™s certainly note worthy. The location is great for a quick trip to the grocery store and tube rental. The public access to the river to just chill out in clear shallow waters is also minutes away. We would definitely come back but would bring a high powered fan with us.

Family vacation
We didnโ€™t spend a whole lot of time at the house as we had friends staying in a house a few miles away that actually had river access. We basically showered & slept there. When we arrived it was very hot in the house as no air was on. It would have been nice to have the air running to cool it off before our arrival. The house didnโ€™t have that cozy feel like I thought it would. Maybe itโ€™s because there wasnโ€™t anything on the walls. There were cobwebs everywhere & the mouse traps were a turn off. Over all, the house was fine. The property manager was very friendly & attentive.

The location of the cabin is very nice. Pretty area, very quiet. The cabin wasn't quite as clean as I expected (crumbs on the counter, caked on food on cooktop, place mats and utensils, floors not totally clean, mouse traps everywhere). I prefer less interaction with the host during my stay unless I have questions or need something, but I understand the host wanted to be attentive. I appreciated the fresh bread she brought over and the game for my kids to play during a rainy week. Lacking the homey touches I have experienced in other rental properties, and many of the items in the home could use replacing like towels, linens, and cookware. You definitely need to bring quick clean up supplies like counter spray/wipes, paper towels, trash bags, plastic wrap/foil, etc. Most of those items have been readily available in a semi-limited supply at other rentals. I replaced the kitchen sponge because it was well used. There was some repair work being done during our stay, but that was understandable and necessary, so I don't take any points off for that given it's a busy rental season. It was a nice vacation location, but I had different expectations for the home itself. 3.75 stars rounded up to 4.

The review was not accurate with respect to cleanliness. We are meticulous in this regard and have always received five star reviews for it. The food crumbs were what we found after the guests had left. Just shows that you cannot please everbody. The guests who came next were thrilled with everything!

The place was dirty, numerous mouse traps/bait in all rooms. The host messaged us at 6 am ,
It was the dirtiest place I have ever stayed. The Host was nice but called me 3x before we got there then had to bother us & come & meet us, then got a message at 6am before the 11 am checkout to see if we needed anything? The showers had mold & the shower self had to been cleaned in a long time. The bathroom rugs were disgusting!! The glass on all the doors had not been cleaned. I would not recommend this place to anyone. PS I have photos to back up my complaints!

These guests are finicky. There is no mold in the cabin. We had it cleaned thoroughly before they arrived. This review is unfortunate but it is not accurate.

Great Cabin, loved the area. Host was amazing with us and our Grand kid. The area was very secluded and amazing. Great place to come and enjoy mother nature. Would highly recommend anyone that wants to have a gateway place. Will be coming back soon!

Great little cabin
We enjoyed our 2 nights. The cabin was cute and the setting was amazing. It would have been a great spot for just adults. The only bad thing was lack of heat. There were a couple of small space heaters which were perfect for the bedrooms at night, but the mornings were rough as they just couldnโ€™t keep the cabin warm enough for late November. Would go back in earlier fall for sure!

Rustic River Fun!
The cabin was perfect for our getaway with our friends. It was close to the tubing companies, but even better, it had a path to the river to enjoy the water on your own (though it is a steep path and a rocky entry into the river). The cabin itself was spacious enough for two couples and the wrap around porch was great! We especially loved that the cabin was secluded and private.

Was a great place for us to get away and visit with friends. Had a great time the cabin was fine. Was a little disappointed that we couldnโ€™t see the river better tree line was grown up. But we drove a very close distance to a spot to fish and swim so was not a big deal.

Very clean/quiet/cabin to relax at!
The cabin is lovely high on the ridge and right on the river, once you walk down the path. The cabin is clean and close to town. You can't see the river due to the overgrowth but the river was also very very low when we visited (mid-July). The host, Dorothy is so sweet. You just have to love her. Communication between us was great. You really don't want to leave any negative review but it has to be said: The only problem we had was it was hot in the cabin. I know outside was hovering around 100 everyday but the three air units inside couldn't even keep it comfortable. They were set as low as they could go and never went under 79 with us. We had a chocolate bar on the counter and it melted in the wrapper. The units need to be upgraded, but please don't let this review keep you from staying here. Watching the morning sunrises were fantastic.

Nice getaway.
The cabin is about 8-10 minutes from Glenwood through a road/trail through the woods past the owners house. Very secluded (you canโ€™t see the owners house from the cabin). Very clean log cabin. No oven but there is a toaster oven and there is a washer and dryer which was nice to have. You canโ€™t see the water from sitting at the cabin because itโ€™s so high up from the water and set back a little but the scenery is still nice. There is a deck in the back yard which would normally overlook the water but it is a little overgrown so you canโ€™t see the water unless you walk down the trail of stairs that leads to the river. We met the owners and they could not have been nicer. Mrs. Dorothy even made us a loaf of bread.

No neighbors real close. Entrance could use some trimming due to vegetation growth. Very nice host. Iโ€™m sure the view is better in the winter but with the leaves on, it is limited. Still a nice view from the porch.

Remote & cozy
Cozy little cabin off the beaten path. Beautiful view & very quiet. A few things need a bit of repair/updating, but everything is still functional. There is not an oven, which I somehow missed when booking. Not a big deal, but worth mentioning. Overall a nice stay, sweet owner as far as her attentiveness. She stopped by with homemade bread & a book. The book was an anti-catholic book about the end times, and we happen to be Catholic, so that was a bit awkward. But that's okay..lol. Oh & we caught a flying squirrel downstairs & released it..so that added to the adventure! :)

Beautiful cabin in a quiet snowy woods setting
What a beautiful property set in the woods at the end of the road. Surrounded by trees and flanked by a river, it was even better in the snow! We did not get to go down the stairs to the river because of the snow. The hosts were gracious and helpful!

Best Honeymoon Cabin!
My husband and I stayed a week here for our Honeymoon. It was exactly what we were looking for. A cute log cabin in the woods with beautiful scenery! We did go digging for diamonds one day and hot springs was in driving distance. We enjoyed the cabin so much we didn't want to leave! Dorothy and her husband are very kind, hospitable, and easy to communicate with. Check in was easy. We will definitely be back, great memories made and this still waters cabin!

Great place to get away.
The cabin is secluded with great privacy, it is a perfect place to get away and just relax. The cabin does need a little TLC but nothing major, it isnโ€™t a luxury cabin, but they donโ€™t claim that it is. It is right on the river, but the steps down to the river are not safe for everyone and you can only get a small glimpse of the river from the deck. So if you want a cabin โ€œonโ€ the river, you may not be happy with this one. The owner was wonderful! I would definitely stay there again to get away and relax.

We arrived 15min prior to check in. The owners were cleaning and advised us 5 times in 2 min that check in wasn't until 4. We asked if it was alright to go down to the river, they obliged. What a shock the staircase down to the river was over grown and rotten in multiple places, even rotten trees fallen over the benches. The deck to view the river was decent however no landscaping or maintenance had been done in years so we couldn't see anything. We booked for the supposed views and fishing. However due to severe neglecte we couldn't see anything and felt the pathway down to unsafe for our children. Once we were allowed in, there was more shock. The temperaturewas over 80, ac barely dropped the temperature to 78 after 10pm. Needless to say we sweated most of the night. Rotten deck, literal holes in the porch, rotten floor inside at sliding glass door to the point where we couldn't let the kids use that door. The beds were dressed with sheets older than me with no elastic in the fitted sheet, so had to keep making the bed. They had bed pads under the sheets that balled up bw the sheets and mattress protector. Mattress were so stained and uncomfortable. Tried to BBQ one night only to find a completely rusted pit. Could truly be beautiful with yard work and maintenance. Needs major work!!

4th of July
We came late at night which was a little difficult to find in the dark. But it was a beautiful spot. Everything there you needed but with a convection oven which upset me at first but ended up being totally fine! I actually liked it as much as an oven. Dorothy checked on us often. It was perfect for what we were looking for!

Great Cabin!
We were in town for a couple of nights for a family reunion. The cabin was just as described and was very comfy. Even though itโ€™s secluded in the woods itโ€™s a short drive to everything you need. Great for families.

The cabin itself was nice. Needs some updating and minor repairs. The owners/hosts were very gracious even bringing homemade bread and Indian food to us. We were very disappointed that there is no view of the Caddo River because of the tree overgrowth. That was a main reason for coming was to be on the river and fish. The pic of the steps and railing going down to the river is quite deceptive. It is not visible from the property without going down stepping stones on the side of the hill. There also is no internet which we needed for various reasons. If you just want to be secluded, it is a great place.

Super private cabin with great views, needs a little help
This cabin is located in a very rustic and woodsy setting. Very quiet and private, which we enjoyed. Beautiful views. I didn't realize there was no wi-fi until after I had booked it, but for just 2 nights, it wasn't a big deal. With a longer stay, would be an issue. The arm chair in the living room has very broken springs, making it unusable. There was also food left in the refrigerator from a previous guest (a mostly eaten cake and half used carton of eggs). We found several hairs on and in the main floor bed and in the master shower. Also in the main floor bedroom, with how the in room air conditioner is vented out the window, the bedroom window could not be locked. It made our daughter very uncomfortable. However, the beds were comfortable, having a washer & dryer was nice, two bathrooms, and space to spread out was wonderful after having been in a hotel room the previous few nights. The privacy and views were the biggest pluses.

Secluded Beautiful Get Away
Perfect location if you're wanting something secluded, very beautiful home and location! Manager was very courteous and brought us a loaf of her homemade bread. Within minutes of both Glenwood and Amity in case you need a few groceries and want to get out and explore a little. The only negative I have is the picture of the steps to the water is very deceiving, it's a few more than shown and is quite a climb back up, but great exercise. We would definitely stay again!
