Sitting on the deck of the houseboat, watching boats go by on the water and bikes go by on the road was one of the best travel memories ever! Check-in was very easy once we got the instructions, but the host was hard to get a hold of. On the day of our arrival, I had to call VRBO because I still hadn't gotten check-in instructions. Only then did the host message us, apologizing and saying that they hadn't contacted us because they left their phone charger at work. Other messages we sent about little issues with the houseboat were answered (or not) in an equally casual manner. Other reviews say the host was very responsive, so if subsequent reviews praise their good communication, ignore this review. Everyone is entitled to have a bad week occasionally.The kitchen was quirky. The fridge was propped up on blocks and tipped back and forth when you opened it. As far as I could tell, there were only three forks and one table knife. The oven was great. There were lots of wine glasses.The houseboat could have used some extra cleaning and maintenance, but if we'd wanted a perfectly sterile room, we would have stayed at the Hilton. The location gets ten stars and our stay was magical.
