âA great ryokan with very friendly staff. The Japanese breakfast was the best we had in Japan! Our room was nice, clean, and had an amazing view. Great location! â
âThe room was within walking distance from the bamboo forest and local restaurants. It was hard to find dining at night because some restaurants close early and you have to cross bridge to search for other restaurants. Too many gnats flying around. Gnats were also in the rooms. The staff were really nice and very helpful and patient.â
âThe Ranzan Hotel is located in a great walkable section of Kyoto. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The room is clean, but the bathroom fixtures are dated. The air conditioner had a hard time keeping the room cool during the heatwave.â
âWonderful place to stay, we loved that the area was in a real neighborhood and not touristy. The only complaint is the main bedroom faces a an alley that has a motion activated light that shines bright on and off all night while you are trying to sleep. Dark shade would help this situation. â

"Bokade efter tips pÄ instagram. BÀsta hotellfrukosten i Japan. Gratis glass frÄn 3 pm varje dag och nudelsoppa pÄ kvÀllen 9-11 pm ingick ocksÄ. Fin onsen dÀr man fick bada dÄ tÀckning för tatueringar delades ut i receptionen. Bra centralt lÀge nÀra Kyoto station. Gratis massagestolar. "
"Excellent hotel with excellent value for money. One of the cheaper of the hotels we stayed at in Japan and definitely the best. Feels absolutely like a 4 star hotel. Very large room (possibly we got upgraded) with small sofa table etc. Cslm atmosphere. Good location only 3 minutes from the subway station (which is only 1 stop from Kyoto main station) Nice for kids that a park and playground are quite close by, also the railway museum and Aquarium. Several nice restaurants with reasonable price within 5 min walk. Also really recommend Kyoto, much calmwr and greener than Tokyo and Osaka. Also have a spa area with jacuzzi and sauna. Very nice but very hot .. Thanks for a great stay! Arigato dosaimasu!"

Note that Momijiya consist of two different accomodations: the main building up by the road (Honkan Sansou), and a more exclusive annex down by the river (Bekkan Kawa No Iori. This review concern the latter.
