I booked and paid through EXPEDIA 1 room for 2 nights at Formosa Hotel, Batam, Indonesia. When my wife and I arrived at the hotel (by taxi), the hotel was totally CLOSED for renovation!!! It was not easy to find another hotel as we are not very familiar with other hotels in the area. Now let’s see how fast EXPEDIA will refund me.

Happy trips
Service is good check in fast . Booked for a family room which is no window and floor with a carpet. Regret to choose this room cos the carpet have a strong smell. After went back to home my son have a fever.

First impression of the room was that For the price it looked good but as you dive into the details you can see the age in the bathroom(oxidation) due to age. The sheets weren’t perfectly white as it’s aged. My problem was the sheets had old stains. However I placed a towel over it and surprisingly had a good sleep. The sheets didn’t smell so they did change it and my room was non-smoking which I totally appreciated. Pro: Clean despite old stains and Aging toilet Near to the Nagoya mall and massage and spa places Helpful and friendly staff Plenty of tv channels such as movies and Singapore tv channels Complimentary water Coffee & tea sachets 24hr food room service Cons: Stains on sheets, the management should Ensure stains sheets are not used

Poor cleanliness and Noisy KTV disturbance
Location was not too bad, walking distance to Nagoya Mall. However, the interior decor and the building looks old and dated. Towels are bedsheets are not clean, (can still see stains). There is a KTV located at the 4th storey of the hotel which opens 7pm till late. We kept hearing the ktv noises even till wee hours in our 3rd storey rooms, disturbing our sleep. Unlikely to return to this hotel.

Like it as it is a close walk to Nagoya Hill Shopping Centre. Staff are friendly too. Has a bubble tea shop at level 1 that does room service at no extra cost. However the room and pillow can be smell of smoke. There is also a ktv that open till 3am, can't sleep well as it can be loud at times.

Location of the hotel fantastic
Great location for shopping nearby. Very easy to walk to the shopping centre. Also have a lot of coffee shop for food.

My Worst Hotel Stay
The hotel is very old. Need more renovation. Curtain and blanket look so old. Air-con cannot feel any cold or cool at all.Not reconment to stay. Weekend price not cheap

Great location
Great location as its walking distance to nagoya mall. Staff are friendly However toilet is dirty and stain..shower water pressure is low and unadjustable. Bed is comfortable and spacious room only that è comforter and bedsheet is smelly.

Unpleasant stay
The wifi is lousy, bed sheet looks and feels dirty. The bed is uncomfortable and hard. The whole place feel so rundown. Is also very noisy.

Overall experience was average
I booked a deluxe double room for 1 night's stay. They allowed me to check-in early at 1.20pm (Actual is at 2pm). They allowed me to check in early. Upon inspection of the room, I noticed that the room and the bathroom had a strange odour and door lock was faulty. The technician acknowledgement that the door lock was faulty and ridiculously suggested that I rely on the door security lock! Anyone would still be able to open the door from outside! How can a solo female traveller feel safe? Annoyed, I requested a change of room. The second room too had an odour. Since it was only for one night, I put up with it. The aircon was very noisy. The bed was too soft and I woke up with body aches. Due to fasting month, I was given a free buffet dinner voucher. But the food selection was almost empty when I got there. When I told the staff, she simply told me to have whatever bit of food that was left. The replenishment was very slow. The only positive thing about the hotel is the location. It is very near to nagoya shopping mall and there are a lot of shops and eateries around the hotel too. The hotel needs a lot of improvement on the amenities and the staffs need training on how to handle customers with professionalism.

long waiting time to check in
The hotel is old. The corridor and lobby have a strong moudly smell. The reception passed us wrong cards initially. The arrangement of furniture in the hotel room is weird.

Windows in room faced a blank wall. Air condition in room was not adjustable to higher temperature. Wifi only available at common area and almost no signal in room.
