Nestled along the banks of the Middle Fork River in Big Sky, Montana, this 4-bedroom, three-story Western-style home is the kind of escape that makes you wonder why you ever go anywhere else. The sound of the river is the first thing you notice. Then the mountains. Then you stop thinking about anything else entirely.

Step through the mudroom, shake off your ski gear or hiking boots, and walk into the heart of the home. The large kitchen is where everything happens. A center island with bar seating for three, new stainless steel appliances, and a wood stove that fills the room with warmth and that particular kind of comfort that only wood heat can give. The formal dining area seats eight, which means big group dinners are not just possible, they are inevitable. The home also features a brand new well, freshly drilled this summer, so you can feel good about the water quality throughout your stay.

The main level living area opens out to the porch and a staircase that leads straight down to the river. Two bedrooms on this level share a generous bathroom. Head upstairs to the loft and you will find a king bed, a corner soaking tub, a standing shower, and two twin sleeper sofas for extra guests. There is also a dedicated workspace tucked in for anyone who needs to sneak in a few work hours without missing out on the trip.

The lower level has its own personality. A second living area, a wet bar, a cozy dining nook, a full bathroom, a laundry room, and a fourth bedroom. Step outside from here and you are at the private hot tub, tucked into the hillside with the sounds of the river below and the crisp mountain air all around you.

Out back, the large deck is made for long evenings. Soak in the hot tub while the river runs below. In summer, head down to the river access where a small fire pit and comfortable chairs create the kind of gathering spot that keeps everyone outside until well past dark.

And when you are ready to explore, Yellowstone National Park is just 20 minutes away. Hiking trails, wildlife, geysers, and some of the most extraordinary landscape on the planet are practically at your doorstep.

Winter

Summer
The mountains do not slow down when the snow melts. Within minutes you have world-class fly fishing, river rafting, golf, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and zip-lining at your doorstep. Follow the scenic Gallatin River along historic Highway 191 and you are at the west entrance of Yellowstone National Park in just 45 minutes. Stay long enough and you will find free concerts, farmers markets, and weekly events scattered throughout the season

Air Conditioning:
This home does not have air conditioning, which is typical for Montana mountain properties. Evenings cool down beautifully at elevation, and opening windows at night is the best way to bring that fresh mountain air in. During the day, keeping windows and curtains closed helps hold the cool air inside. Fans are available in the bedroom closets for additional comfort. For safety, please only open windows while you are present on the property.

This home accommodates 2 vehicles. Please note that the driveway is very steep, and 4-wheel drive with snow tires is required or recommended during the winter months.
