Create many lasting memories at Lair of the Bear cabin perfectly located only 13 minutes from downtown Blue Ridge! Enjoy expansive mountain views while relaxing in the hot tub, share stories around the outdoor fireplace, and challenge someone to a game of pool or ping pong in the whiskey-themed game room! The cabin is conveniently located to take advantage of all the outdoor adventure the area has to offer. We are only 35 minutes from world class white water rafting!

Your group will adore this 4-bedroom, 3-bathroom log cabin with stunning mountain views, high-speed Wi-Fi internet, Roku Smart TVs (bring your apps, cable not provided), full kitchen, outdoor hot tub, outdoor fireplace and patio, and whiskey-themed game room with combination Ping Pong/Pool Table, 55-inch Roku TV, and bar area for hours of entertainment.

Main floor (2 bedrooms): First bedroom has two bunk beds (one twin-over-twin and one twin-over-full). Second bedroom has a king bed. Hall bathroom has a walk-in shower. Living room features seating for eight and a 55-inch Roku TV. Eat-in kitchen with dining table that seats eight (additional table for six located in the game room).

Upstairs: Loft has a king bed. (The loft is not enclosed and opens to the living room below.) Master bathroom has a walk-in shower and double sink.

Basement (1 bedroom): Bedroom has a king bed. Hall bathroom has a tub shower. Table which seats six. Bar with stools for 8. Whiskey-themed game room.

The kitchen is fully equipped with cookware, dishes, silverware, cooking utensils and both a regular and a Keurig coffee maker. Guests should plan to bring their own coffee, creamer, sugar, food and condiments.

Location: Far enough from town to feel away from it all, yet close enough to enjoy all the restaurants and attractions that Blue Ridge has to offer!

Your mountain adventure starts on the last half mile of gravel road approaching the cabin. For short spurts, the road is steep, bumpy and narrow. All vehicles can safely make the trip with some careful driving, but we recommend taking it very slow. If you're hesitant about the road, we have a video posted to YouTube of it. Search 'Drive to Lair of the Bear' posted by Restful Hideaways. After driving it once or twice, you’ll be able to handle it like a pro. We think you’ll agree that the solitude and views are well worth the journey!

A car is needed to access the cabin.

The indoor gas fireplace is available for guest use October 1 - April 1. Using it during times of the year when air conditioning is needed damages the AC equipment. The outdoor fireplace and firepit can be used year round.

When on the deck or porch, the highway can be heard in the distance. But while taking in the view, sharing conversation and listening to the sounds of the forest, you quickly forget about it.

Cable TV and local channels are not provided. All TVs are Roku TVs and can stream any app you have a subscription to.

Please note that we require our guests to sign and agree to a separate rental agreement within 48 hours of booking. We also require a security deposit hold of $500 2 days before arrival.

If you bring more people than reflected on your reservation, you will be asked to leave without a refund.

No smoking indoors.

No parties or events.

Unfortunately we can't control the weather and no refunds will be given for bad weather. Please consider purchasing a separate travel insurance policy if this is a concern.
