Finding the cabin was the most difficult part about the whole trip. We made the mistake of veering to the right at the sign indicating the different roads instead of staying to the left. Had we stayed to the left, we'd found the cabin within minutes. But, we went right, and it took us up and up and up. We saw some amazing cabins and views because of our little error though! We eventually turned our way around, backtracked, and found the Squirrels Nest.Check-in was super simple with our code, and we were so happy to discover we had stairs on the inside of the house rather than outside. Once inside, it was beautifully decorated, very clean and quite spacious. There were a couple of negatives in our opinions though. The beds were very firm and you could tell the mattress for the king size room was quite old as there were "ruts" or "grooves" on both sides which made it feel as if there was a bump to roll over if you wanted to lay closer to your spouse/partner. The other negative was the tub/shower. Even though it was quite large and deep, it was difficult to get in and out of and quite slippery with only one little grab bar. Definitely not elderly friendly. Lastly, the TV in the living room was very difficult to turn on, even with the directions provided. We eventually were able to turn it on, but it took several minutes. Other than that, everything else was great. We didn't hear road noises or anything else when inside. It was very quiet and serene.
