Overall our two nights were good room and property were very clean and there's a kitchen for food. A couple of points would be to have a blind on the bathroom door window mainly because the morning light comes in and wound add more privacy. Also we found the mattresses uncomfortable and springy so didn't get a great sleep but its a lovely property and would stay again if beds were comfier

On the positive, it was clean & tidy. On the negative side Room no 2 classed as an ensuite room but no washbasin in the bathroom. Washbasin in the bedroom very unhygienic. Should not be classed as ensuite. Instructions to ring the proprietor on arrival but no reply. He did call back 30 minutes later but the check in was stated at 2 pm but we were unable to check in then. Because of the above reasons i would not return or feel able to recommend.

Our room for the family (room 1, sleeps 3) was clean and cozy with an en suite bathroom. The property manager upgraded us from a room without an attached bathroom after learning we have a young child with us. The property is located in a quiet part of town with short walks to the centre, restaurants, convenience stores, and hiking routes. We were comfortable and enjoyed our stay.

It didn't happen, door was locked,door bell was two open wires and the telephone number was unobtainable. Stood in the pouring rain outside trying to raise an answer, before giving up and going elsewhere.

I rang you several times on the fake number you had given on your booking I also emailed you but again the details were wrong! please don't say im useless when you can't even put your correct details on the booking, when I couldn't get hold of you I thought you weren't coming or it was a scam!

Review of Compton House.
The Pros. Clean room, extra pillows provided, shower was decent. Cons. Ample parking outside was inadequate. Had to park halfway down the road, annoyingvwhen you have heavy bags in the heat. Website stated a Victorian courtyard outside, infact this courtyard in the photos were of their neighbours so this was misleading. No fan in the room, was like a hotbox no air very warm. I suggest buying 7 cheap fans at £10 each, you will recieved positive feedback and good stars. No access to kitchen whatsoever. I bought beer in a bottle every evening and had to go outside and walk to the 'Close Sign' and put the cap over it and opened it that way. The ensuite in room 2 is tiny, i couldn't dry myself as there was No room to move your arms. I was a bit shocked to see a sink in the bedroom. The website and other accom sites says that you get continental breakfast. Was told when I arrived that the accommodation is a Guesthouse now not a B&B. This is falsely and brazenly misdescribing the accommodation. I partially booked this property because of the breakfast as I was travelling early every morning. I heard others complaining about this and they told me they felt lied to. The rooms need to be soundproofed. I could hear everything around me which was annoying. On the last 2 days, I was kept up and also awoken by a constantly yapping dog. This kept me from sleeping properly. Was asked several times if I have paid. The owner should know this as its a business, when I told him I paid he asked

A Fantastic period building. Was upgraded to room 3 (in the front), which was a large room with a fireplace and bay windows. Would definitely stay again

We enjoyed the great location, free parking, and comfy beds at this guest house. Some of the decor could do with a refresh and the towels were very hard and a bit thin, but overall we enjoyed our stay.

Lovely little place
Lovely little place, comfy and clean. Allowed to keep to yourself as well. Advice would be to hundred per cent stay here over the palace hotel!!

Great little place. Clean, tidy and owners seem friendly. Only reason I’m giving less than perfect is because my shower didn’t work. However the owner offered a solution using a shower in another room on the floor above. Less than ideal as I’d paid for en-suite room but these things happen and it wasn’t a huge problem.

A bit disappointing
The bedroom was comfortable but the mattress wasnt, with a few springs sticking out. The ensuite, although clean, was in need of refurbishment. The breakfast was very disappointing. There wasnt an option of an English breakfast but the Continental breakfast was fine, apart from the unwashed grapes and the dry oranges. It was the fact that it was completely self-service, even to the point of putting on the kettle for a drink, which wasn't expected. We were even asked to put our crockery etc onto the serving hatch when we had finished. However, the staff were very friendly and the cleaner who dealt with us at check-in was helpful.

Great location and well appointed
Stayed 2 nights in the cellar suite which I was told is the best room with en-suite. Great location being around 200yds to the High Street shops/pubs/restaurants. Very quiet location with sufficient on street parking. Very well appointed room with en-suite with jacuzzi bath and wet room shower. Be aware the breakfast is continental and not 'Full breakfast' but saying that there was a good choice of food.
