The boxcar was remodeled with a very workable floor plan. It is tastefully decorated. The amenities were welcome. The welcoming committee was a pleasure. We had a very pleasant stay here and highly recommend it to anyone traveling through the area.

We stayed at the Super Chief last year and knew we wanted to come back this year and stay at El Capitan! Becky the host has everything in the train car that you would need for a relaxing stay.. We usually stop at the grocery store before going out to the train because it isn't super close for shopping.. The peace and quiet is wonderful and her dogs are so sweet...

The dogs, horses, wild birds, and especially the humans here all made us feel very welcome. The train car is so cool! It's very comfortable, charmingly decorated, and easy to find. We especially enjoyed sitting outside after dark and watching the stars and far-off thunderstorms. If you're looking for peace and quiet in a comfortable spot with great amenities, this is the place to go.

Property allowed Pete to run around with the hosts pets, it was a very unique stay that provided a lot of comfort for the money spent. Becky was very communicative and friendly as well as providing snacks and drinks at the rental.

Husband and I (and our doggy) had a wonderful and relaxing stay. Communication with the host (Becky) was great. Trully unique experience. Very cozy and inviting, just what we were looking for in a getaway trip to Palo Duro Canyon.

We'd read rave reviews -- and the box car lived up to all the hype. A unique experience and respite on our cross-country trek. Feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to chat with Becky and meet her uber friendly dogs who were so accommodating to our pooch The place was spotless and one couldn't have ordered a more spectacular sunset.

Host is outstanding, Becky is amazing! Such a wonderful and welcoming weekend. The stay was beautiful! The horses, donkeys, and dogs made the property feel so loved! Absolutely amazing place to stay to check out Palo Duro Canyon. The Renovated train is so cozy for a couples getaway. 10/10 would recommend and would stay here again!

This property is absolutely amazing, such a unique experience to stay in a renovated train boxcar, was just great. Host was friendly, close to town and the beautiful Palo Duro Canyon State Park, would recommend to anyone!

The host is amazing snd welcoming. The view was beautiful. The El Capitain is unique and wonderful. Tumbleweed, horses, and pooches were like cherries and sprinkles on top!

Becky was an amazing host! The boxcar was clean, and she even provided some unexpected snacks and drinks. Sunrises and sunsets were beautiful. Even though we were on her property it felt very private. The distance to both Palo Duro and Canyon wasn’t far. We will definitely be back!

What a fun find!! We absolutely loved everything about this place, just wish we could have stayed longer. Becky is so nice, prompt and welcoming. Everything was clean and in working order. The horses that reside there were a huge bonus for me! Palo Duro Canyon is so close and a beautiful place. A word of advice - if you are looking and like it, you better book it because it will be gone if you wait until tomorrow!!

Coming from SAN ANTONIO. TX for our 6 yr anniversary. Thank you for a wonderful stay here at your beautiful home at "El capitan". Really cozy for the both of us and our pets. Took a day trip up to Palo Duro canyon and enjoyed the nice scenic views, to come home to more beautiful views and a sunset and even smores at 3am. LoL.If we ever make our way back, we will be back at "El capitan” Highly recommend!

Unique Experience.

Great place for an overnight stay en-route to the San Antonio area to-from Colorado. Convenient to I27 and Palo Duro Canyon for longer stays.

We had an amazing stay at El Capitan. It was an excellent location near by the state park and had everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. The host was also great, bonus was co-host Lucy the Great Pyrenees saying hi to us every morning. We would definitely stay here again!

Great location, setting, and accommodation. Host was available but gave us our space and privacy. Highly recommend!
