Amazing location, but that's about it....
Positive: The location is amazing if being close to downtown is your goal. Great spot! The mattress is very comfy in the bedroom! Reasonable price for location. Clean. Things to note: Need to update listing to reflect twin bed located IN the living room. Picture of washer and dryer should detail location is in hallway and shared with another unit. No parking provided. Host’s listing for other unit states this, but this listing does not. Owner verbally cited street parking (2-hour maximum 8am-6pm) and parking lot across the street (overnight parking prohibited). Fortunately, grandparents live close-by and we were able to park there. No welcome note: where to put trash, Wi-Fi password, checkout instructions for sheets, etc. Wi-Fi was down so unable to use Roku television. One smoke detector in entire unit and battery was popped out. Living room window is not sealed, leaking in cold air and street noise. Also, lack of window covering made for no privacy, unable to block daylight. Bathroom: No garbage can. Only 1 washcloth. No ability to turn off light over sink, making for one very bright night light. TP and hand towel hooks falling off the wall (despite previous guest mentioning in their review). Linens: No top sheet on twin bed and linens not provided for futon. Kitchen: Soiled dish washing supplies. No hand/drying towel. Multiple dishes in cupboards were dirty. Garbage disposal not connected and laying on bottom of cupboard. In spite of cranking up heat, the temperature never exceeded 66 degrees. Check-in time was 8 minutes away and still hadn’t received check-in info from host. Called Austen and he sent immediately. Called again to inquire about (lack of) parking and Austen was easy to reach. None of the above were brought to his attention during our visit, so to be fair he didn’t have the opportunity to correct. We were only there for 2 nights and spent very little time in the unit. I appreciate honest reviews when making lodging decisions and hope this helps level set expectations for others.

Excellent location with lots in the area
You get what you see in the listing. Clean, comfortable, great location. Perfect for my daughter and I to use as a base for her soccer tournament in Petoskey. Lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance.

This was a great place to stay, walkable to everything, minutes from the beach. We loved being in town! We had everything we needed for coffee in the morning and making dinner one evening too.

Great location
This place is in a fantastic location. It would have been a little better if the towel and toilet paper holders weren't falling off the walls and the shower wasn't squirting water all over. The lock on the door wouldn't ever engage so we had to leave the place unlocked. We had used soap in the shower as well. It would have been perfect with a couple little fixes.

Great Location
The property was in a great location. We walked to shops, restaurants, the beach to see the sunset and also the marina to see the sunrise. It was so lively seeing people out walking. Hearing music in the streets was another highlight.

Great location - needs a bit of work
We booked this unit without reviews as it was one of the few properties available in our price range. The location was fabulous - walking distance to nearly everything in Charlevoix and great biking as well. Great location to explore northern towns. The unit was small, as expected. While some things were new a few things were lacking. The bed was very comfortable, ample towels, kitchen basics, coffee and even some snacks, soap and shampoo all appreciated. Staffing in restaurants made eating out of bit of challenge so we did cook in. We liked having the washer and dryer out in the hallway only shared by one other unit. Parking was surprisingly easy and we just left our bikes locked on the car. Internet was decent and the AC worked well but we had to use a large fan to push the cold air into the bedroom. I saw later this was a dog friendly unit and did notice that the carpet in the living area was dirty. It was a little odd that I had to plug-in various lights or appliances in the kitchen as they could not all fit at once. Refrigerator door you had to make sure you latched closed. There wasn’t a hairdryer and the towel bar and towel ring fell off multiple times. Only the front bay windows had screens and those did not stay on well. I strung up a large scarf for a bit of privacy as there were no window shades. Pots and pans are strictly limited for small meals. A cutting board would’ve been nice as well as a large bowl to toss a salad in or to fill to wash dishes. No hot pads or kitchen towels either. Austen was responsive and overall we enjoyed our stay primarily because of wonderful location.

Host, What host?
Our "host" was communicative up until my money was sent, otherwise he was a no-show. I asked for the doorlock code & wifi passwords the day before our trip, I was told that "for security reasons" he would not give me the information but he would send me an email the next day. Translation: We don't trust you to not check in before the appointed time. So now we had to blast off on our trip not knowing how to get in. That was strike 1. The promised email never showed up. That was strike 2. How did we get in? It was a stroke of pure luck. We landed in Charlevoix at 3:58 PM on Tuesday, August 2nd and rather than borrowing the airport crew car as we had planned, in a serendipitous turn of events, our friend, a Charlevoix resident, came out to the airport and gave us a ride to the property (stroke of luck #1). During the short ride from the airport I checked my email and finding none, frantically texted our "host" Austen Lobenherz, seeking information. As we pulled into an adjacent parking lot we encountered Austen's father, Rick (stroke of luck #2). Our friend immediately recognized Rick, Charlevoix being a small town and both folks being realtors. Rick was able to get us in, but not using a code, it didn't work. We got in because the door was unlocked, so much for "security!" Speaking of security, the doorlock proved to be problematic and was keyed, not coded. It is locked/unlocked only with great difficulty, and on several occasions we left the property unlocked because of the fear of not being able to get back in, video of doorlock disfunction available upon request. We never did find the wifi password, one smoke detector was missing and the other was properly mounted but the battery door was swung open, and if I am not mistaken that prevents a smoke detector from working. Photos of smoke detector(s) available upon request. So in summary, I have given this property/"host" combination an "F." This is mostly a management issue given, from check-in day on, one phone call placed to the host was not picked up and his voicemailbox was annunciated as being full, a promised email was never received by myself, and my text to the host to correct deficiencies and come through with needed pieces of information was not responded to. There were a couple of safety and security matters as well, as outlined above.

Best weekend get away with your pups!
This condo is perfect for a weekend getaway with your pups since it’s dog friendly. There’s a small park right next to the building making it super convenient. Also you can’t beat the location! Right downtown so everything is a minute walk away.
