Quiet Rural Retreat

This was our second time at this wonderful “rustic“ cabin that has everything you could need for a quiet retreat in rural Virginia. The hosts are lovely and very hospitable.

As a family, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Gone Fishing Cabin and Zipline Retreat. From the moment we arrived we knew it would be perfect. The cabin was so clean and had everything we needed for our week long stay. The kids loved the water activities ( zipline, paddle board and peddle boat) and the adults loved that the kids were occupied and having tons of fun! The owners, Hank and Tammy, are incredible! They were extremely attentive to anything that we needed and are knowledgeable with the area for shopping and outdoor fun. They are also very nice and are just good people! We also fell in love with Coco, their Chocolate Lab. She made the stay extra special for our kiddos.❤️ We loved it so much that we stayed longer!! We now have a home away from home.

Clean as a whistle, neat as a pin, cute as a button

My daughter and I came up with the title of our review on our way home from a great hike. She even turned it into a little song that she sang for most of the week following. That should tell you that we enjoyed our time tremendously. The pond and outdoor area was great. While it’s a “rustic” little cabin, nothing feels old or dated about it. The house was well equipped and super clean. It’s very comfortable and has a good TV and WiFi setup but we didn’t need it much. We took advantage of the paddle boats, zip line, hammocks and fire pit. We also did a little fishing. All without leaving the house. The surrounding area is full of recreational opportunities. We visited the Blue Ridge Parkway, Siles Falls and the Town of Floyd. It is pretty remote; which doesn’t bother me. My wife doesn’t like to be more than 5 minutes from a 24 hour CVS so it’s a good thing she wasn’t with us. We were attending a swim camp at Va Tech that regularly recurs. We hope to stay here again next time.

Perfect Get-Away

This thoughtfully and well-appointed family-friendly, fishing themed cabin is about 30-40 min drive from Blacksburg/Virginia Tech. Kitchen is fully equipped, bathroom is good sized, queen bed in the loft and living area futon allow plenty of room to sleep four. Smart TV and WiFi worked well. Outside deck, dock, picnic table, fire pit, hammocks and chair swing provide plenty of ways to enjoy the outdoors. 4-person paddle boat, stand-up paddle board and Zipline were a welcome surprise. All is well-maintained and comfortable. The owner reached out to us to ensure we were well taken care of. No issues; great stay!

Perfectly Peaceful, couldn’t have asked for better

Hosts, Tammy & Hank were great. They gave us space and privacy but also managed to be attentive and available. The cabin was the perfect size for 2. Quaint, well stocked and comfortably furnished. The property exceeded expectation and met all needs. We spent most of our time outside near the water relaxing by day, stargazing by night. It was difficult to leave after such a peaceful relaxing weekend. We absolutely plan to book here again. Thank you for providing such a wonderful getaway!

Peaceful get away

This is my fourth stay @ this cabin. It has always been very clean, owners are friendly & quick to help/answer questions, & the setting is lovely. Everything is there for a wonderful weekend @ the lake.

Tranquility

Beautiful views of sunrise/sunset, peaceful setting and ultimate star gazing. Cabin was well stocked with supplies for our trip. The grounds are very well maintained. Host was very attentive. Wonderful stay and we will definitely return and recommend this cabin to our friends and family.

Beautiful and quiet!

We came for a weekend to listen to music in Floyd and hike so we didn’t take advantage of all the cabin offers in the way of water amenities. The setting is lovely and secluded. Recommend arriving in daylight as the cabin is a little difficult to find in the dark. Cabin is very well appointed.

Short getaway

The cabin was perfect for peaceful getaway after helping our son move into an apartment near VaTech. We slept with the screen door open and could only hear the tree frogs by the pond. Feels much bigger than the square footage listed and the multiple outdoor sitting was a plus.

Little slice of heaven

We booked this property a year before our stay. Our daughter was graduating from Virginia Tech and we knew the day of the school commencement but didn’t know what day she would walk across the stage. Well, we chose incorrectly and booked Wednesday-Friday. Turns out we needed Thursday-Sunday. Tammy was so accommodating and let us move the dates right before our stay. And the house and property were so well kept, clean and just beautiful. We didn’t get to spend a lot of time there with all the graduation festivities but we loved every second of the time spent there. Great communication and lovely stay!

Awesome stay

Tammy and Hank were great hosts and I loved staying at the cabin with my 9 and 6 year old. Zipline, hammocks, pedal boat and fishing kept the kids occupied and we had a great time. We will return!!

Perfect Getaway!

This is our second time here & the owners are right there to help & accommodate. The cabin is very clean & well stocked. Peaceful, clean, fish plentiful, & of course, the zipline. An easy 15 min drive to Floyd. Highly recommend it.

Beautiful outdoor space

The cabin is small but very nicely decorated with everything you need including wifi and a TV with Netflix, Prime video, etc. Tammy was a great host. Always checking in but also giving us our space. The real draw for this property is it's outdoor space. With a gorgeous deck, a dock small dock with a paddle boat, a gas grill, fire pit, and hammocks - you couldn't ask for a better outdoor space to relax and enjoy. You'll have to drive to get to any good hiking since there aren't any trails near the property but Bottom Creek Gorge Preserve is only 25 minutes away and was a great hike. My buddy and I had a great weekend just getting away from the grind of daily life. Would definitely spend another weekend on the property.
