I know the standard is not like Sweden but this can not be 4.2 on the grade scale, black mold in the entire toilet ceiling,dirty walls, and broken and worn details. The photos on The Saddle webside looks good BUT this is not how it looks irl. I'm curious about how the Swedes think that gave this good score.

Gammal charm med centralt läge.
Ett riktigt gammalt mysigt inn. Nackdelen var den trånga trappan upp till "sviten". Stora rymliga rum och fin frukost och mycket centralt. Toppen brasiliansk restaurang rätt över gatan.

Perfekt läge nära allt
Mysigt litet hotell med mycket trevlig personal. Efter första natten blev vi två systrar erbjudna att större rum med separata sängar. Utmärkt service. God mat på puben. Cozy small hotel with very nice staff.After the first night they offered us two sisters a bigger room with separat beds.Exellents service and good food in the pub.

Nice accommodation centrally located
The family visited Chester and we stayed here for one night. The kids loved the room, which was spacious, clean and had very nice, big beds. The accommodation is on top of a pub, with a main road running outside the building but this was not disturbing in any way. I would have taken breakfast at another place. It wasn't bad, just nothing special. I'd stay here again, as it was walking distance to the city centre, the surrounding walls and other tourist attractions.

Definitivt ett bra hotell.
Jag och min man var där på affärsresa och vi tyckte mycket om detta hotell. Det låg bra i ett pittoreskt engelskt område. Standarden och servicen var utomordentlig och maten var super. Jag rekommenderar varmt till att bo på The saddle inn.

Well intending but wrong
The Saddle In is well situated in the centre of Chester with nice staff. However, the room and bathroom was separated by an public emergency exit, awkward and not comfortable at all. A negative surprise. On top of that, a non-working wifi. Otherwise, a clean and comfortable room.

It was a nice enough room bathroom a bit tired decor very suitable for theme of pub Stairs to rooms very narrow and hard slog getting to the top floor . Didn’t eat in as food was finished when we arrived and not available on the other two days which was disappointing.

Lovely place, food and breakfast spot on, nice and central but I believe the rooms could do with a deep clean, perhaps new carpets and new grouting round the shower trays? All in all though love stay and the staff were amazing, a big thank you to will especially, outstanding service

Overall we enjoyed our stay but there was a few issues. Our room was hot and we were unable to open the window. The bed was very creaky. The place could do with repainting in parts. But the staff were very friendly and breakfast was lovely

An awesome overnight stay
Everything was excellent the staff could not do enough for us. The breakfast was amazing there was so much choice, enough to feed an army. They accommodated family joining us and then we sat and chatted with extra drinks. It was fab all round would definitely stay again and highly recommend . Had lunch there too and the food was great again with big portions.

Weekend stay
The inn has lots of character and the staff were very friendly & helpful. Breakfast was good, but could have benefitted from a fruit option. The room was clean but a little tired & bathroom could do with a little bit of bit of upgrading, e.g. grouting around bath, dripping tap & fixtures.

Friendly welcome when we arrived. Good sized and clean triple room on the 2nd floor. Live band on Sat night but not too noise intrusive in our room. We weren't advised that this was a live music venue when booking so this place may not suit everyone but we got back to see the last 40 minutes of the last band and had fun. Nice breakfast.

Room was a good size and clean. Main problem we had was there is pretty much no wifi which is not good when you have kids to keep entertained, even the bar area had, at best, sketchy wifi. Staff were very nice and the pub is well situated.

We stayed at the saddle inn for one night after a very long fun day at Chester zoo. Great location, parking 2 minutes walk, hotel very basic but was ideal for one night with 2 adults and 3 kids in the family room, accommodated everything we needed for our short stay and the staff were fantastic and friendly.

The staff are lovely & helpful the room is well maintained and comfortable however our annual trip to the Saddle Inn was spoiled due to the rock karaoke in the bar below until the early hours so no sleep for us and we were in a family room. A shame but time to find a new place to stay for us

Ideal hotel for exploring Chester and North Wales
Really enjoyed our recent visit to the Saddle Inn. Staff were really friendly and helpful and the pub is excellent. Other reviews mention the state of the rooms. While they do need bringing up to date, we couldn’t fault the cleanliness and comfort. We had a family room and were very happy with it. A programme of works is in the pipeline and we’ll definitely be revisiting when that’s completed.

Sleeping above a pub.
Well we didn't get the room shown in the above picture. It was pretty tiny with a slanted ceiling you had to watch out for. But it was fun for two nights and the staff and pub clients were pretty neat. NOT a Holiday Inn but that's fine.

Dusty, noisy but near to town.
Double room with no ensuite but allocated bathroom across corridor. Bathroom needs a complete re-furbishment. Faulty shower screen causing flooding, known but not repaired, dust on surrounding surfaces. Window in bedroom sealed shut due to fire escape, fans provided but hardly acceptable. Tired decor and dust on surfaces including kettle. Noise throughout Saturday night 00:00 to 8:0 am.
