The room was pretty, the bed super comfortable, the temperature lovely and cosy, the bathroom toiletries and bed linens all super high quality. Wi-Fi was strong and meant I could work. “The bar staff at check-in were friendly. The rooms are upstairs in old characterful Essex pub in a pretty village. There are only four parking spaces which were taken so we parked behind the local co-op a short walk away.

“We stayed in this property for 5 days (December 11 to 16). On checking out, we asked for the total fee for our parking our vehicle for the 5 nights. We were told it costs £8 a night and to pay using the machine at the gate. We did. We paid £40 for the 5 nights. We got home, and received a £60 "fine" for parking at this hotel, even though we paid, we have the receipt and it shows in our credit card. “My 5th time of staying here and a very different experience to all previous visits. I travel with for work so being able to work from the room is extremely important.
