“Room was clean and refurbished but let down by the bathroom The toilet was badly located and toiletries insufficient ( particularly as there was nowhere to shower in spa) due to no changing rooms being available Parts of the hotel have been refurbished and are lovely although often just superficial but the other parts are very tired and and unloved. “I was quite disappointed with my stay. The breakfast was terrible — very limited options and not appetizing at all. The room wasn’t comfortable; I could hear the neighbors talking and even snoring through the walls. The bed was hard and uncomfortable, and to make things worse, the noise from the birds outside kept me up most of the night. Overall, not a pleasant experience and I wouldn’t stay here again. The good thing about the hotel was the location, at the heart of Carlisle. ”

“We stayed at Armathwaite Hall for one night and it was superb. The staff were all so friendly and helpful and little touches made our stay very memorable such as a glass of prosecco on arrival and a card and some chocolates in my room for my birthday. We stayed in a Club room which was very spacious. We ate in the dining room which was pricey but the food was exquisite so worth the money.
