  • New in July 2025!! The Woody Trailhead Cabin is in Cooke City, Montana off the beaten
    path.

    Minutes away from downtown Cooke City. A short 4-mile drive to the NE entrance of
    Yellowstone, Beartooth Highway is located along the main street in Cooke City and will
    lead you to a scenic 90-minute drive to Red Lodge, MT.
    The lack of modern conveniences means a rare opportunity to disconnect and immerse
    oneself in the natural world. It is this very remoteness that keeps Cooke City special,
    offering the kind of peaceful retreat that is increasingly hard to find. There is no modern
    grocery store in Cooke City. We suggest shopping for items you’ll need in Cody,
    Gardiner, or Red Lodge. The local General Store and gas statiosn will have last-minute
    items you may need and are fun to visit.

    For those seeking a true escape into nature, Cooke City offers tranquility and adventure
    in equal measures. The surrounding wilderness is ideal for hiking, wildlife viewing, and
    stargazing far from urban lights. In the evenings, you might spot elk grazing nearby or
    hear the distant call of a coyote beneath a sky blazing with stars. Local eateries and a
    handful of charming shops provide a taste of mountain hospitality, though their
    schedules can be as unpredictable as the weather, especially in winter months. Plan for
    meals and fuel, as services are limited and hours may vary with the seasons. Whatever
    brings you to this tucked-away corner of Montana, you’ll find Cooke City’s rugged
    beauty and quiet seclusion make for an unforgettable stay.

We stayed in Cooke City, to see Yellowstone. We were able to see most of the Park, drive the Beartooth Highway, visit Cody, Wyoming and Yellowstone Hot Springs, for the pools.The town is small, without a lot of services, but we enjoyed being a little remote.

We couldn’t have been happier with the cabin. It is clean, comfortable and well supplied. The location , so close to the northeast entrance to Yellowstone NP and the wonderful Lamar Valley and beautiful Beartooth Highway was perfect!

Excellent location for visiting Yellowstone National Park. The place was clean and furniture and bedding were comfortable. The kitchen was very well stocked and with pots and appliances to prepare a hot meal at the end of the day. All you need is to bring your groceries before you get to the cabin.

Great base camp for ski touring around Cooke! Cam was very helpful and responsive (without being overbearing). Hope to come back when there is more snow!

Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this location. Is it a beautiful area with a lot of construction going on at this time but once completed will be awesome. Our problem was there was a power outage for our first three days but that was nothing. the owners could do anything about. Would highly recommend anyone wanting to stay there. We actually had mule deer walking right next to the cabin and one day, a grizzly within 60 feet of where we were located. When they say it bear country… They mean it.

Great location and very nice cabin. Easy access back into Yellowstone. Cam was a great host. He even dried our laundry when the cabin dryer was on the fritz. A sow grizzly and two cubs walked past the cabin as we watched… from inside. Only drawback was a bit difficult to locate without internet for maps, but Cam had sent lat/long in advance and was able to use my OnX app.

Very nice, clean, well appointed property. Two bathrooms a big plus. Laundry facilities and cable. Easy to get to and close to town while still being in the woods. Cameron was very responsive.

We booked a last minute trip and were so fortunate to find this cabin. It was perfect for our family of 6 and our pug. The cabin stayed nice and cool during the day and we stayed very cozy at night with the heaters. The house jad everything we needed, even a first aid kit. The beds were comfortable and we had plenty of pillows. This place is very close to the Yellowstone park as well. We very much enjoyed our stay.

Absolutely filthy - I cleaned for hours - toilets were deplorable- toilet brush the owner told me to use had poop in dispenser - I called owner to ask for bathrooms to be cleaned - they came and shut off the lights and didn’t clean anything - towels took over 400 minutes to dry and yes I had to wash them twice before we used them bc they were STIFF. After washing I put in dryer and the hair from other people was so bad I did a second wash. Totally unacceptable- I want a refund and I want to submit pictures of homely advertised clean home. I had to scrub everything up and down for my kids to get a shower. Couldn’t even use the microwave it was COVERED in disgusting mold and residue.

We loved staying in this cabin. Smelled of fresh paint and freedom. Seriously such a beautiful area. We had such a great time in Cooke city. We will be back! The cabin has nice beds and felt cozy and welcoming. We were happy with everything. We appreciated how well the cabin was stocked with all the things. We wanted for nothing. Played the games, ate the popcorn, enjoyed the rain in the pines! Actual heaven on earth.

The cabin was very clean and comfortable. There was even some food in the pantry in case of emergency. Could definitely stay there for a longer period of time. My only complaint is that it was a bit tricky to find but that was my fault as I didn’t put the directions in my phone before I lost service. The owner clearly says to do that so make sure you do!! Looking forward to staying again next summer!!!
