  • Welcome to Cinco de Mayo, a one-of-a-kind Mediterranean style home in the Ocean Hill community of Corolla. The semi-oceanfront location offers incredible views and convenient access to the beach right across the street. Fabulous amenities including a private pool, grotto, hot tub and rec room are sure to please the entire family. Brimming with character and unexpected features you won't find in your average beach house, Cinco de Mayo is the perfect setting for an unforgettable vacation.

    After a day of fun in the sun, come home and unwind in the light-filled living area with soaring ceilings and a wall of ocean-facing windows. Spanish-style tile throughout the common areas is ideal for sandy feet and paws that have just returned from the beach. A well-equipped kitchen surrounds a center island with seating, allowing family and friends to gather in heart of the home and socialize during meal prep. After dinner, the festivities continue in the adjoining rec space with pool table, along with a bar for a pub-style experience without leaving the house. At the end of the night, retreat to the spacious primary bedroom, where you can soak away the day in the garden tub or enjoy some quiet time on the private balcony. Five additional bedrooms (three of which are ensuites) along with two bonus bunk rooms will comfortably accommodate everyone in your group. Cinco de Mayo is dog-friendly, so canine companions can be on the guest list too.

    The Mediterranean theme continues outside with a private pool surrounded by an expansive deck for lounging in the sun with a margarita in hand. Serve poolside drinks and snacks from the bar inside the grotto. It leads to a secluded backyard space where you can take a relaxing soak in the bubbly hot tub.

    Cinco de Mayo is just a mile north from historic Corolla Village. Explore unique shopping, dining and family-friendly activities at the Corolla Light Town Center. Set aside a day to experience famous attractions including the Whalehead Club, Currituck Beach Lighthouse and the Outer Banks Center for Wildlife Education.

This house has not been maintained at all. As soon as we walked in, the house had a musky smell. The entire house is worn down and needs to be renovated. We were unable to use the pool as the pool water was low and filthy. There was algae and dirt all over the pool. The grill area needs to be deep cleaned, the windows were dirty, the kitchen drawers were sticky and nasty, there was a pool of puddle in the dishwasher and smelled bad so we had to hand wash all the dishes. We did not have hot water the first night and were unable to shower. Some of the furnitures were in bad condition and broken and varied from the pictures. On the second day of our stay, the ceiling in the master suite stated leaking and on the third day the AC in the master suite stopped working. On the checkout day, it was pouring and the roof in the corner of the living room started leaking. This was our annual trip and we had never experienced this with any other rentals. This house should not be allowed to be listed for rental until ot is renovated. The pictures and description from the listing are misleading.

The only 2 things that were good about this property was the location and the amount of space. The whole house needs updating, (inside and out) needs painting and repairs. The first night there was a storm and the sky lights in the living room were leaking onto our stuff. It was also leaking in another area of the living room. The pool was filthy all week because the filter is not working properly. Also a pipe broke under the deck the middle of the week and we lost use of the pool for a day and a half before it was fixed and the pool was re-filled. The weeds behind the grotto were 2 ft high. The hot tub’s cover is old and falling apart. The foam from it falls into the hot tub when you try to use it. The dishwasher doesn’t drain and you get a whiff of raw sewage in the house from time to time. The pictures posted online are old and deceiving. It is not worth the amount we paid to rent for the week. I feel that we were ripped off. The host realty company were responsive to our complaints sending people out to address the problems but I signed a contract for use of a pool and weren’t able to all week. I feel as though I should be compensated for that. If you rent this property, make sure they upgrade it first. I paid through a major platform and they were no help. They said to contact the host. They got my money and washed their hands of the whole situation. I will not be renting from them from now on.

A Nadie Le Importa: This rental was significantly overpriced for its condition and amenities. Upon arrival, the trash bins were overflowing with garbage, the lid was broken, and there was an overwhelming fly problem. We arrived just before check-in and found the cleaners still finishing, and one bed was missing a top sheet even after they left. The basement still smelled strongly of mildew from previous flooding, making it unusable for children.During our stay, the upstairs shower leaked into the room below, taking over 24 hours to receive a response. Many maintenance issues appeared to be temporary fixes: visible water damage, mold around vents, broken pool equipment, a deteriorating hot tub cover, broken outdoor showers, a constantly running basement tub faucet, and an unsecured access panel that fell and cut someone. The kitchen was dirty and had to be cleaned upon arrival. Checkout instructions were inconsistent, and cleaners entered two hours before the posted checkout time, blocked our vehicles, and cleaned while we were still inside. After they left, it was clear they had spent less than 40 minutes cleaning the entire house. We documented dirty dishes left in the dishwasher, unclean toilets, debris on the floors, and overflowing trash bins again. The listing photos do not accurately reflect the property's condition. This home feels poorly maintained and not worth the price. Families with young children should consider a safer, better-maintained rental.

It was a nice accommodating place. However, it did need a good cleaning in some areas. There was lots of dust bunnies on furniture. The pool needed cleaned.
