fun stay in OBX!

the area was beautiful. We especially loved the proximity of this house to the volleyball court, basketball courts and playground. The kids were able to run outside and back in the whole week and they loved it. Feedback would be: more extra sheets and pillowcases. There were extra pillows but we wouldn't have used them due to no pillow cases and the top twin bunkbeds didn't have sheets on them and we couldn't find them. Would have reached out if we were really stuck for sheets but we didn't need those bunks in the end. Plenty of extra blankets though.

Corolla Light is Far Away and Super Congested

House, facilities, and beach were great, but having stayed in Duck and Kitty Hawk in the past we were both surprised and disappointed at the congestion and traffic on Rt. 12. It took over two hours to go 20 miles on changeover day after a 5 hour drive to get to the bridge. Kids and adults were tapped out. We enjoyed our stay once there, but in the future we'll look to stay elsewhere due to the over-development in Corolla.

Perfect location but property needs deep clean and updates

We had a wonderful stay at this property, the location could not be more perfect for families with young children because the playground and beach are just steps away! However, the state of the house is disappointing. The property is not well maintained. We don't mind dated, but the house is in great need of a deep clean and some updates. Some examples: there were pieces of trash under some beds, the table top was so sticky we had to scrape paper off of it, mould around vents... Once again, we had a great time, we just think the house has a lot more potential.

Great house, great location, overall great experience.

We had an overall great experience with this house and location and will definitely consider renting it again. It was perfect for our family, close to the beach, and close to the sports facilities. It would have been exceptional if the following items had been different: 1) Vacasa does not provide a local assistance number to reach the local office right down the street and unless you know the name of someone in the office, it is close to impossible to get connected with them. Easier to walk over to the office. All calls for anything get routed through a toll free number and wait times on hold sometimes were longer than simply walking over to the local office where the people were SUPER helpful. I give an A+ to the staff in the local office at the resort but a C- to the toll free phone system. 2) the wheel mounts on the bottom rack of the dishwasher were broken so the wheels wouldn’t stay on and you had to put them back on every time you pulled out the rack to add a dish. If you didn’t catch that they had fallen off, the rack rested on the spray spinner and the dishes wouldn’t get clean. By the end of the week we had had all we could take with the dishwasher. 3) the cover for the hot tub was severely waterlogged and weighed over 150 pounds. Not safe for most people to lift alone and not safe to leave off once it was off. Pool guy said it has been this way for a couple of years. 4) multiple lamps with either broken shades or broken switches so were essentially useless. 5) if you are a foodie, bring your own set of knives as all of the knives except one in the house are too dull to cut anything. 6) the under counter ice maker is broken and doesn’t make ice. We didn’t need it so ended up turning it off because it was just making noise. 7) black mold on some vents and around top of walls in master bath shower area.

The Good and Bad

Nice place, close to a lot of amenities and very safe with ocean view close by. Major concerns were amount of dirt on many of the floors mostly under rugs and kitchen. Had to ask and they were very responsive in cleaning the floors again. However under the rugs were not swept. Had blocked drains in the bathtub that they were prompt in fixing. Mold noted in vents on a couple of bathrooms. That is concerning. Shower curtain had to be changed as well for mold issues. Bugs and spiders all around the deck on second and third floors. Near the pool area. Was told they power washed a week ago. Deck worn out with nails sticking out ( can be injurious)

Spacious but dated home, poorly maintained

First the good stuff - this is a spacious home in a beautifully maintained, safe, dog friendly, community. Lovely ocean views from the 3 rd level. Easy access to a great beach. Plenty of towels provided and beds were made. Kitchen was well stocked with utensils. Hot tub was great. The not so good stuff- sloppy cursory cleaning, crumbs in kitchen, used washcloth in shower. The home has popcorn ceilings, peeling wall paper, laminate counters. The 2 nd floor is musty. Deck on third floor is splintering and has rusted nails. The weather was chilly snd no comforters were provided. We took our own. The most frustrating bit was communicating with Vacasa. Vrbo list this property that is managed by Vacasa . You will not be dealing with owner or property manager who has any direct knowledge of property. Vacasa took days to reply to queries posted on VRBO. I will never rent a property managed by Vacasa , they are extremely disorganized.

Family Trip

The house was fantastic, great view, clean, furnished well. Very surprised to find so much beach equipment handy. The neighborhood was quiet, with other events close by.

Corolla Light

We had a great time during our stay. Great location and great for kids. One thing I will say there needs to be some time spent on general maintenance of the property. Smoke detector batteries were dead, pool lights did not work outside or inside the pool. We used flash lights at night for the kids to swim. The ladder going into the pool was not even hooked up because of a rotten board (someone could get hurt). The trees around the pool need to be trimmed back so pine needles didn't need to be cleaned out daily. All the deck in general needs boards replaced, nails nailed in and painted. The master bath shower had mold on the shower curtain and walls. I'm not picky, just trying to help for future renters so they want to come back.
