Our family of six - three generations ranging in age from 23 to 75 - celebrated our Christmas at the historic Wood House. The house was beautifully decorated for the holiday, including a huge tree and a basket of fresh white poinsettias on the dining room table. Every room had decorations compatible with the house, even the bathrooms had a touch of seasonal decor. We had a fire in the outside fireplace a couple of nights, spent a lot of time on the screened porch, and enjoyed cooking in the kitchen. The avid birders in the family enjoyed Goose Island State Park. We went to dinner at Cheryl's, one of the restaurants mentioned in the house binder, and it was delightful. Also walked down the street to Rockport Donuts which was fun. Unfortunately the cute coffee house across the street wasn't open during our stay. As all other reviewers have commented, the Wood House is absolutely wonderful. We appreciate all the thought, workmanship, and care with which the house has been restored. Our family has made a unique Christmas memory!
