We had 2 nights at this wonderful hotel. Such lovely staff, so friendly and welcoming. The bed was comfortable and lovely pillows. Food in the restaurant was cooked to perfection. We will certainly be back to stay.

Great find! Booked this for an overnight stay whilst visiting Ludlow Christmas Market, and we couldn’t have chosen better. Lovely location, which I would image is even better in the Summer. Lovely room; friendly staff; fantastic breakfast!

Great overnight break
Breakfast was brilliant very fresh and tasty. Would have liked proper coffee rather than filter but minor quibble. Toast was fab proper thick wedges of tasty bread. We ate in the bar and they kindly accommodated us even though they were fully booked. Great nights sleep too, very comfy bed. All staff were great, polite and welcoming. We’d definitely stay here again if in the area.

The hotel was great, beautiful garden with lovely scenery. Felt very peaceful and calm while say relaxing. The hotel and garden was very well maintained. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, a little quirky which gave the whole room character. Staff were welcoming and helpful. The morning breakfast was also very good plenty of choice. Will definitely return in the future.

Had a lovely two nigh stay at The Lion. Food was amazing , staff were lovely, very professionnal.Lovely locations by the river. Easy drive to Ludlow and Stokesay Castle. Will be visiting again.

First class service, food and accommodation
We received a very warm welcome and all the staff were very helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. The hotel was lovely and cosy. Our room was comfortable and spotlessly clean. There is a great menu for the evening meal and the food was delicious. Breakfast also did not disappoint and the breakfast room overlooks the garden and river. The Lion sits in a picturesque setting with a good car park at the rear. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend The Lion.

Warm and friendly rural inn.
We decided to break a road trip home with a stop out in the country somewhere. This is a delightful and friendly hotel/pub/restaurant located in the heart of the countryside, with a river running next to it (including a stone bridge to top it off). The hotel is clean and has a modern feel to the decor, that not to say I list cold and overly modernistic, it’s informal and welcoming. Greeted and checked in quickly, given the safety guide, pointing out all emergency exits. The room is small, it was described as a small double, so can’t complain about that. Though the bathroom was surprisingly spacious, with a lovely deep bath and plenty of hot water. Nice complimentary toiletries too. Talking of complimentary, the two cans of flavoured spring water and bag of crisps was a nice touch. Along with the usual tea and coffee making facilities (proper kettle boils quickly, makes two mugs - these things are important, as anyone that has suffered the Argos basic kettle that takes 20 mins to boil would know). That test passed. The meal in the evening was great. Simple menu, of well cooked and prepared dishes, with a nod towards local produce. Similarly the bar has a nice variety of beers and wines. Had a good nights sleep, bed was comfy, room was warm as windows did not open, though there was a fan in the cupboard. But we slept like logs anyway. Breakfast was of a similar standard to the evening meal, plenty of choices too. All in all a great place to stop off on a journey

A Pleasant Place to stay.
A friendly and enjoyable stay. Despite being busy they were always willing to help. Menu was limited, would recommend the welsh lamb. The room was clean and spacious. Overall they looked after us very well!

Stopped here on our way to Wales. Helpful staff and room has everything we needed, including welcome bag of crisps, drink and biscuits. Lovely meal in the evening and enjoyed a drink in the beautiful garden overlooking the River Severn. Lovely breakfast as well.
