Relax with family & friends at this peaceful lakeview retreat. At nearly 100 years old the property is surrounded with history. The renovated design kept the history alive while adding a more modern charm. Direct views of Pettigrew State Park, Lake Phelps and surrounding farms can be seen from the home and property. The Lake offers tundra swan migration, bass fishing & much more! Enjoy boating, hiking trails, biking, swimming, kayaking, picnicking, hunting, fishing & wildlife observation. Public boat ramp is located in close proximity. Relax on the sunporch with breath taking views of Lake Phelps! The rich history and habitat of the area are second to none. Only one hour drive to OBX. Starlink WiFi. NO PETS ALLOWED

Best Vacation House I’ve Stayed At!

This is the best house. It is exactly as pictured - clean, comfortable and spacious. The outside seating is a great addition as well. The host’s had an amazing welcome for us as well - some of the tastiest cupcakes and a huge bowl of snacks -truly appreciated after a long drive. The house is well stocked from the kitchen to the bedrooms and baths plus the laundry room. I feel like most houses now barely have TP and Jess had multiple detergent types for us. Jess was great - offering ideas to do in the area and responding immediately. Oh and did I mention the tandem bike?

Better than advertised!

Booked here to attend a family wedding nearby and not sure what to expect. Pictures are 100% accurate and the house is even better in person. Plenty of space and highly recommend! Will definitely come back if we ever are traveling to the area again!

Beauty ~ Peace ~ Serenity

The property is as described and more! The house is beautifully appointed, cozy and welcoming. The host is superb, attentive and very kind. They thought of everything for making the stay comfortable. This is a fabulous place to really connect with the nature and history around you. Very quiet and the night sky is as it should be seen. The enormous lake is steps away but the beauty surrounds you! Can't wait to come back.

Peace and Quiet

My family was looking for a place to get away and relax. We were definitely able to do this in a clean, spacious, and immaculate home. Hardly any traffic around to worry about! Peace and quiet!! Excellent place to slow down and relax.

Lovely home beside Phelps Lake

The house is very nice. We were surprised the moment we walked in. It had everything you would need for a short getaway. I highly recommend to those that want a little seclusion yet close enough for a day at the coast. ~52 minute drive. We went to Nags Head for one day, you're about 8 miles to Hwy 64, then 64 all the way to the coast. It has a grill and firepit outside, with everything you need to grill your favorite meats. Youre right down the road from the park ranger's office and walkway to the lake. I walked there and back for exercise every morning. Phelps Lake is in front of the house, across the street and very short walk through the trees. You can see the lake through the trees. There is a path around the lake you can take a stroll through, though we just went to access points with docks.
