Cottage sits overlooking our beautiful creek, surrounded by trees with total privacy & serenity. You will feel like you are in a wooded sanctuary. Lots of birdsongs! Front porch has swing & attached deck with view of creek! Deck hanging over the creek has lava rock fireplace & lots of comfy seating. Hammock beside creek. Loft is super cozy with a king size bed, luxury cooling memory foam mattress. Downstairs bedroom has a queen size luxury pillowtop mattress with an adjustable base that has all the bells and whistles, such as massage, bluetooth, led lighting and several adjustments for your comfort to sleep, lounge or watch TV. Bluetooth speaker in tiled walk in shower, Luxury bath. Decorated seasonally. Fully equipped kitchen. Keurig. Recliner sofa. Games. Books.

The space
Cottage is set in the middle of wooded area with fabulous creek views. Very Cozy. Lots of details put into cottage and outdoor area. Decorated seasonally. The tranquility is unsurpassed. All the comforts of home. We live on property but out of view. Only 10 minutes from downtown.
High speed internet access, fully equipped kitchen, Queen bedroom downstairs is the main bedroom, but we also have a king in the loft. Bathroom features tiled walk in shower with shower bench, LED lit mirror, bluetooth speakers. Cottage deck has a small firepit sitting area and there is also a larger deck built overhanging the creek with comfy seating and firepit. The front porch swing is the perfect touch for enjoying a cup of coffee or reading a book. Several sitting areas along side creek to enjoy the beauty of nature, along with a wooded trails. NO PETS ALLOWED. NO CHILDREN ALLOWED. THIS RETREAT HAS BEEN CREATED AND DESIGNED FOR ADULTS ONLY TO HAVE A PLACE TO COME FOR TOTAL PEACE & QUIET, TO RECONNECT AND GET AWAY FROM THE STRESS AND WORRIES OF LIFE. OR FOR COUPLES TO COME FOR SOME SECLUSION AND ROMANCE WITH THAT SPECIAL SOMEONE.

Cullman has a unique historic downtown. The Warehouse/Historic district has nice boutiques, coffee shops, & Restaurants. Duchess Bakery is a must! Feshalle farmers market is open 3 days a week. Ave Maria Grotto is 7.9 miles away and The Shrine is 8.8 miles away. Smith Lake is 21 miles away. Lots of local attractions within driving distance. Waterfalls, covered bridges, caverns, historical places, Space & Rocket Center etc. ..

  • Final resting place for Brother Joseph, who created the art that is known as Ave Maria Grotto.This is a cemetery of only monks in residence at St. Bernard Abbey. Ave Maria Grotto, in Cullman, Alabama, is a landscaped, 4-acre park in an old quarry on the grounds of St. Bernard Abbey, providing a garden setting for 125 miniature reproductions of some of the most famous religious structures of the world. It was added to the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage on February 24, 1976, and to the National Register of Historic Places on January 19, 1984. The stone and concrete models are the work of Brother Joseph Zoettl, a Benedictine monk of St. Bernard's Abbey, who devoted some 50 years to the project, the last three decades (1932 to 1961) almost without interruption. They incorporate discarded building supplies, bricks, marbles, tiles, pipes, sea shells, marbles, plastic animals, costume jewellery, toilet bowl floats and cold cream jars. Born in 1878 in the Kingdom of Bavaria, Brother Joseph was maimed in an accident that left him slightly hunched due to cervical kyphosis. He immigrated to the United States as a teenager, settling in northern Alabama. Soon afterward he began studying at the newly founded Benedictine monastery of St. Bernard, where he took his vows in 1897. Br. Joseph was not allowed to be ordained as a priest, due to the rule of the period that stated any man with a distracting disability could not be ordained a priest. He ran the monastery’s power plant and was, even by a monk's standards, a withdrawn, quiet man. Brother Joseph rarely left Alabama, where he died in 1961.

This is a beautiful and comfortable place to stay. It feels remote. There is no light pollution, nor is there any noise of traffic at night. The only noises were those of the birds and the creek, which were lovely. I felt that I was deep in the woods, yet the place is not very far from a grocery store and downtown. The ambiance of the cottage is soothing. My stay made for a wonderful retreat. I hope to return.

Sista Trip

My sister and I stayed here for a sista getaway. We loved the cottage with the beautiful outdoor surroundings. The hostesses were attentive to every need - even getting out in the rain to come turn on deck lights for us. The cottage was beautifully decorated and had lots of extras to make it special.

Spring break in northern Alabama

We had a wonderful stay for five nights. This cottage is amazing. It’s remote and peaceful and next to a creek with a deck and seating area beside it. The host is very responsive and the place is well equipped. Location is good as well. Cullman has plenty to offer and it’s not a long drive to Birmingham or Huntsville. Really recommend!!

Very nice little cottage for our romantic getaway

If you are looking for a romantic getaway that is worth it; then this is exactly what this was for us! Come down a winding gravel driveway to an adorable little cottage off in the woods near a small creek that was just amazing! It has plenty of beautiful views and seating areas outside and walking trails! The place was very private and secluded which made it very pleasant to enjoy. The seating area around the deck and inside was just gorgeous and everything inside was decorated so cute! The shower was nice and relaxing! Everything about this place was absolutely perfect!

relaxing forest stream

I came here to WORK in the Alabama Cumberland Plateau mapping forest types while staying in a comfortable cabin / cottage close to my project area that would be cheaper than a hotel and with better food options. WOW, I could not have had a better experience here; the setting with large trees, an active stream, and some fine bird song, was PERFECT. Now, only if I can find a reason to come back for something other than work; perhaps the Flying Carpet property upstream!!

Literally a Breath of Fresh Air!

The Cottage was cozy and beautifully decorated, the location was convenient and the grounds were surperb. If you plan on staying in this area we highly recommend this rental! Also Cullman is a very nice and clean city that offers some real hidden gems, and just has the right tempo to also just unwind and recharge.

No problem finding property with Waze. Loved the private gravel driveway/felt like I was on an adventure! Forest surrounding, quiet/safe/scenic, cottage pix accurate/charming, comfortable stay. No time to spend outdoors/only there nights & appreciated all the lighting in yard upon my return! Delish coffee pods and home brewed tea left for me in fridge! Nice place; a couple small issues

The house was cute and nice to stay in, A/C worked well (set to 60 when we arrived). We didn't realize until we were a few hours away from checking in that we hadn't received any communication from the owner about where to find the property and how to check in (and you do need directions other than the address), but when we contacted the owner, they responded with instructions quickly. Their recommendations for dining in Cullman were very good. We also weren't able to lock the deck door from inside or with the key, and trying to fix it the handle fell off. Owner said they would fix it, so hopefully it's good for the next guest. We were concerned having the house unlocked for 2 nights because we don't know the area, but it is fairly remote from the road, so we pushed chairs against the door for our stay and didn't use that door. The only traffic was an ATV going down the dirt path next to the house several times from 5am-9am the one morning. That was a bit surprising since we didn't know who it was and had a door unlocked, but I think they were doing construction on another house down the path through the trees. Other than that, it is very quiet and peaceful. But overall it was a nice house and we had a good stay - the bed upstairs is very comfortable, although the loft stairs were a little tricky getting to the bathroom at night, so we stayed downstairs the 2nd night. We enjoyed walking around outside on the paths, but didn't have time to use the outside furniture for anything - they are cute, but you would need to clean leaves and debris off before using. Love the creek running past the house. I would just note that guests should be aware you are expected to take all garbage out of the house with you when you leave, wash all dishes, and strip sheets off beds in separate pile from towels. Just something to be aware of as it's not mentioned in the description.

Peace and Quiet

The location was perfect. Tucked away down a little winding gravel driveway, taking you away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. So peaceful, quiet, and comfortable! Seriously wish we could have stayed and entire week.. They made sure you had everything you needed and more. The fall decorations were perfect and definitely made you feel like you were at home. The rain finally stopped the morning we were leaving, which is the only reason we couldn’t enjoy the seating area by the creek. Book it if you are looking for a home away from home! Will definitely stay here again given the opportunity!

Perfect Isolation

Such a peaceful stay next to a burbling stream! Cute decorations and awesome WiFi. Great porch and a separate waterside deck/fire pit. Within 15 minutes of downtown Cullman. VERY COMFORTABLE!!
