The Abbey hotel was easy to find. There is plenty of inexpensive parking in the area 6 days a week (Saturdays are busy). The hotel is beautiful and stylish, the staff extremely cheerful and bouyant. The restaurants and pub associated with the hotel are well stocked and have reasonably priced meals. On the down side, and a significant problem the internet connectivity (wifi) is horrid. When it’s connected, transfer speeds are in the single digits, and the connection drops every two or three minutes. In a world of the internet business people and tourists alike rely on a solid connection to plan their day, receive communications from home, and to transfer files to cloud storage. This should be a priority point to be addressed for improvement.

Mycket trevligt hotell, jag och min dotter stannade där fem nätter. De glömde dock att städa vårt rum, ingen stor sak, men handdukar och toalettpapper behövde fyllas på i alla fall. Vi åker gärna tillbaka till hotellet!

It's absolutely amazing stay at the Abbey Hotel, I loved it so much. The stuff are friendly and nice, the restaurant has great options for amazing food. Also the Diamond area is very nice and walkable, where you find great restaurants and souvenir shops. Parking is easy too. There are many sight seeing places within 30 - 60 minutes, Silver Strand is just charming place visit, as well as Sain Johns' light house.

I have to give this hotel a 5 star as it is an amazing hotel the was one bad issue which can not be the fault of the hotel as it was only an events doorman by the name of Brian I believe that was nasty and abusive but the hotel was an amazing lovely hotel and literally every other member of staff including the manager was really nice I’d highly recommend this hotel and will hopefully be back again some day

Warning DO NOT STAY at Abbey Hotel for New Year
Complete disaster totally unorganized heating in room didn't work no hot water stains on floor and seats in the room. New Year's Eve was horrendous total mayhem, they brought coaches of outsiders into hotel without notifying the clients they took over the hotel. Residents could not get accesd to bar or toilets, the room were the show was in totally over crowded, a complete safety hazzard. Residents had no choice but to leave the show and go back to their rooms, the young people they let in totally took over every part of the hotel. Running up and down the corridors banging on the doors. Brought food and alcohol into hotel and management were nowhere to be seen, infact some young one's still sitting in the reception area drunk from night before not even booked in the Hotel. I expect a refund for the night of 31st December it was our Wedding Anniversary, totally ruined we will not ever stay at this Hotel for the New Year EVER again.

Location is perfect and Building and facilities are beautiful. Stunning and quaint town. Rooms are nice however the King bed we had was not the most comfortable. We ate at the bar and the food was good but the bar quite cold in temperature. Overall it was a very nice experience.

View of the bay from my room. The Abby was quiet and clean. Staff was congenital and helpful. Lots of people waiting for a bus made it difficult to find the entrance.

The hotel is somewhat dated but rooms very large so no real issue there. Bar was very good with a proper range of beers not just lagers and stout so a real plus. The real issue for me is the poor quality of a E15 priced breakfast. 1. No white or black puddingh which is a first for me in an Irish hotel and I have stayed in many 2. You can only get toast that is pre-made which is odd 3. No hash browns but roast pots-strange 4. Considering it would cater for many tourists no croissants, cheeses or cold meats When I asked about it at reception( the breakfast) I was told- 'that is the breakfast we serve' well not good enough at that price The other issue is asking for an invoice on a reception counter sticky with a spilt drink which was also on the floor at 9 AM in the morning. Not a great look. Cost was E164 for B and B which is par for the course for Ireland alas

Two flights of stairs to fourth floor, lift only goes to third floor. Whole place needs refurbishment. Staff great but let down by overall condition of hotel. Plus they need to be upfront about lack of facilities such as a lift to every floor. Older and disabled people would be very poorly served by this facility.

Decent rooms except for cold showers and no one willing to do anything about it. Kept telling me it was due to too many people taking a shower at once or I didn't know how to work the shower.

The room was clean and spacious; however, the bed was incredibly uncomfortable and in desperate need of a new mattress. The front desk staff were courteous and efficient. Breakfast buffet was plentiful but average quality food and not worth the price. Also, the dining area was poorly cleaned. Great location in the middle of Donegal town.
