The location of Arabian Ranches Golf Club is about 30 minutes by car from most of the places one might reasonable wish to visit, from the airport to Dubai Marina to The Creek, and including all the Malls from Ibn Battuta to Irdif, and including Emirates Mall and Dubai Mall. Malls are more than simply shops, they are experiences of Dubai, with restaurants, skiing, iconic buildings such as Burj Khalifa.
It isn't necessary to play golf to stay at the Golf Club, but it made me think about picking up some clubs and having another go.
The room - 110 - was a good size with an excellent en-suite bathroom, and a view over the golf course. The free broadband was reliable, if a tad slow.
The restaurant was very good - breakfast especially was excellent.
You really need a car to stay at the hotel, though taxis are nearby and not expensive, and there is a regular bus service from Arabian Ranches to the Emirates Mall metro stop, which then opens up all other areas of Dubai, except Palm Jumeirah, which has a completely separate monorail system.
Staff at the hotel were all most professional, cheerful and helpful - I couldn't fault them.
No real negatives about the Golf Club - it would have been nice to have had access to a swimming pool - but it IS a golf club after all!
