We have been running this VRBO for over 4 years now, and we do strive to provide our guests with a clean, well-stocked/equipped, spacious, uniquely Alaskan Log Home and chalet with which our guests can use as a "home base" while they explore and enjoy Alaska with family and friends. We are truly sorry if any guest feels that the home did not meet their expectations. Many of our guests have told us that they feel our log home encapsulates the essence of Alaska and we would agree, although we are certainly biased. This is certainly not a "cookie cutter" type of home, and many of our guests have told us that they love the uniqueness of the home and property. We feel it is truly one of a kind. This guest mentioned a few areas that we have addressed, new magnet for shower door, addressed the shower floor issue, etc.. this is the first guest in 4 years, who has mentioned either publicly or privately that the home was not clean enough. We were a little surprised by this comment and didn't feel it was completely warranted, but we certainly will continue to provide a clean home for each and every guest. This is a rather large property with a 2,800 square foot log house and a 1,000 square foot back cabin/chalet, so it is possible that something might be missed, but we do our best to avoid this. Between every guest, this house undergoes 5-7 hours of cleaning in order to prepare it for the next guest. The carpet is fairly new and we were surprised to hear someone say that it needs to be completely replaced. We don't believe that will be a typical guest experience/belief, nor have we ever heard this comment from any other guest either publicly or privately, but that being said, we have moved up our cleaning schedule for the carpet. We quite often compare our listing/price with others in the area, and we feel this guests' opinion that the price point is too high in comparison to others will not be shared by many others. This was a smaller group, so with smaller groups there are other rentals available that might be cheaper, but as groups get larger, we really do feel that we are, at least at the time of this response, one of the more economical options available for larger groups. We believe that most groups, and especially larger ones, will find that our rental is reasonably priced and in many cases, it will be difficult to find something cheaper, especially something that has the amenities that our home has (hot tub, large yard, fire pit, back cabin/chalet, etc..
