“I'm not giving it one star because the place met my expectations, which were quite low at the outset. The cottage was of mid-century design that is badly in need of renovation (broken fixtures, uncovered electrical outlets, mold/mildew growth in the bathroom). It was a non-smoking room, but clearly people were smoking there. I think the place was emblematic of the Catskills as an area that once was a great place to visit, but has fallen into disrepair over the past several decades. ”

“We are local, but needed a place to stay while our house was having some work done. We were so excited to see The Overlook was open, and I'm even more excited that we booked! They're still finishing the property so not all rooms are available, but I can't wait to visit when they're all done! Beautiful rooms, kind and flexible owners - a must-stay if you're in Saugerties! “Laureen was very hospitable. She accomodated us every step of the way. There were clean sheets, comforters, pillows and sets of towels arranged in the room. The bathroom was also clean and there was hot water. Laureen checked in on us to see how we slept and if our needs were met. “Our stay was perfect and we booked again for another trip next month. I was thrilled to see a larger fridge! Wonderful for packing coolers on hot August days! The room was super clean and it was wonderful coming back to a perfectly made bed. Check-in was smooth and friendly, with a call to check on us as we were running late.
