Toppenhotell en bit utanför centrala Edinburgh!
Väldigt fint hotell en bit från centrum av Edinburgh. Fantastisk bar och restaurang med god mat och dryck. Mycket trevlig personal både i reception och bar/restaurang. Välstädade rum och väldigt sköna sängar. Tillgång till spa avdelning med bastu och pool/bubbelpool. Fin promenad ca 45 minuter in till centrum men buss finns precis utanför hotellet för den som inte vill gå. Här bor jag gärna igen.

Village hotell har det mesta man kan önska sig
Vi hade en mycket trevlig vistelse i Edinburgh och gjorde en dags utflykt till Inverness med tåg. Village hotel hade allt för avkoppling med stor inomhus pool, spa, jacuzzi , ång- och vanlig bastu. Gymmet var stort med allt man kan önska sig. Allt var mkt välskött. Tyvärr missade städ att städa vårt rum en dag. Restaurangen hade bra mat och om man inte har frukost inbokat kan man få frukost billigare på hotellet om man förbokar den Dan innan. Annars finns ännu billigare frukost i mataffärens restaurang snett över gatan. Vi kan absolut tänka oss att bo här igen eller prova på andra Village hotel i deras hotellkedja.

Ok boende
Jämfört med Village i Glasgow så var Edinburgh sämre. Vid incheckningen så blev jag riktad till en självbetjäning och fick ingen info om hur hotellet fungerade. Som tur var var mycket likt Glasgow där jag precis kom ifrån. Det var väldigt sällan någon synlig vid receptionen och efter första dagen hade inte mitt rum städats (?). Bra frukost (som ej ingick). Restaurangen var bra med engagerad och samlad personal första kvällen, dagen därpå så var de ostrukturerade och otydliga. En 40 min promenad från centrum och ganska "meh". Skönt boende men "meh".

I would not recommend this property to anyone who is looking for customer service of any kind or good night sleep. Only thing we enjoyed was access to Starbucks(staff their very kind) and pool. First off, you have to check yourself in on an ipad, the lady behind the desk didn't even greet us. All she did was hand us the machine so we could activate our own key once the machine told us what our room number was going to be. She did not tell us anything about the amenities in the hotel or pool hours. Secondly we also had to serve ourselves in the restaurant, the staff on that day had no clue how to do their job (nobody knew how to issue a refund, lady I gave my order too could not answer a single question about the menu without going to kitchen). The one man behind the bar refused to help me when I first got to the bar to place my order and clearly has issue with women as he took a man's order who approached the bar 2min after me. Third the staff do not smile and when you do ask them a question they honestly look inconvenienced by you. Finally the bed and pillows in our room where the most uncomfortable items we have ever slept on during our 7 day trip to G.B.

The staff were all wonderful, we liked the restaurant. Because this hotel is also a health club, guests can use the gym, large lap pool, sauna, steam room, and jacuzzi FOR ONLY $5 per day per room. We were also able to park close to the building in the handicap area. Hotels with a car park are hard to find in Edinburgh.

Had to leave a young child at my table to go to the bar each time I wanted to order food or drink because the poorly trained staff were too lazy to serve at tables. My starter and main came out together so I had to leave my child again to discuss with staff. It had to be sorted by me as I was made to pay in advance. Customer comes last in this place. Minimum effort by staff is the priority.

Disclaimer, my poor review is singular to my experience and isn't indicative of the Hotel in general. We didn't meet much of the staff and only stayed one night. We had booked two nights, but left pretty quick after the first night's experience. So, we were given a room that had a bathroom meant for people with disabilities. Maybe all the rooms are that way, I'm not sure. Our problem with our stay was because the drain was either clogged or closed off somehow. didn't notice because the shower floor is the whole bathroom floor in a disability bathroom but you still have a curtain blocking the view of the rest of the bathroom (also you just assume the water will go down the drain). So the whole bathroom flooded after one shower. I told the person at the front desk, she said she would have someone come take a look that night, but no one came. Possible they came after we fell asleep and left us alone, unsure. But we just decided to check out the next morning.

We had to ask for the room to be cleaned.There was a fire alarm at night no staff explained what was going on and there was no head count. Potentially very dangerous for guests.

Really great stay here, the hotel was clean and modern. Staff were very friendly and helpful during our stay. Bar for food and drinks was nice relaxed atmosphere. Starbucks in the lobby was a great addition! Bus stop right outside the hotel for links into the city center. Would definitely stay again here and recommend to all.

Christmas/hogmanay stay
Friendly staff and easy to check in. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Tv signal was sorted quickly. Leisure facilities were very good. Bus connections to town were good. Local to supermarket and garage. Wi-Fi signal was also very good. Would definitely want to stay again.

Staff were friendly when checking in. The room was modern, clean and comfortable. Very cool sports bar with a decent burger and pint. Also had use of the pool for a quick sauna and swim before checking out. A nice relaxing stay, no complaints at all.

Ok enough to stay, terrible service.
It will take some improvement before I stay at the Village Hotel in Edinburgh again. You can tell that the Hotel management needs a lot of improvement as it fails to deliver on many of it's promises. Whilst the rooms were clean and modern enough, there weren't enough towels and the service was extremely poor, particularly in the bar and grill restaurant. It started poorly when we booked a reservation online for the restaurant only to be rudely told when we arrived that the online booking doesn't always work and they had no reservation. They then put us at the back of the restaurant almost as a way to forget about us. It took 25min before they came to take the order with many items not available on the menu. After another 45min, the food arrived and was terrible; bland tastes and meats were cooked dry. They failed to bring all the food on time and even omitted some items with certian dishes. When we requested the items, it was met with a huff as if we were being a nuisance. We were asked to leave the restaurant at 9.30pm because we had young kids, which their alcohol licence prohibited, although they hadn't brought our desserts yet. Absolutely, atrocious service. Avoid the restaurant.
