Overall Good with One Concern
SEE CONCERN BELOW! Overall, we liked the house! Clean with plenty of space for multi-families. We enjoyed the porch in front a lot. Our kids & neighboring kids gathered on the big rocks & played.CONCERN: If you have kids with smaller bodies, avoid sleeping in the top bunks. There is a linear gap between the mattress & rail that leaves at least 6 inches of wooden bottom bed frame exposed. Like a ledge large enough for toys, cups, etc. And, the height between the bottom bed frame & rail is apprx 1.5 ft. While asleep, my 8 yr old rolled off the mattress onto the ledge, under the railing, & onto the floor. About a 6 ft drop. We didn't consider this a possibility. It was! She hit her head hard. Bunk beds are not a new experience & she doesn't roll off beds. Please take note.The mattress could be pushed up against the rail; thus, leaving a gap toward the wall instead of the rail/floor. This would eliminate potential for rolling off under the railing. However, the rail may not be high enough above the mattress. Please check that a child could not roll over the rail. The next night we took the top bed mattresses off & put on the floor in upstairs sitting room.In summary, we would stay here again without using the top bunk. Review is for awareness. I contacted the rental company, which was reluctant to take ownership. They will pass feedback to the owner & let them decide how to proceed. Hopefully an adjustment will be made. Additional railing could fix.
