Welcome to Big Star Bungalow!
This sweet little east-facing home is nestled in a peaceful, quiet neighborhood surrounded by lovely neighbors, mature trees, and gorgeous flower and vegetable gardens for you to enjoy.
You will be close to everything when you stay at this centrally-located place: the town square, county hospital, university, library, laundromat, community rec center, golf courses, and grocery stores are all under a 10 minute drive.
This charming little house has just a few steps up to the front door and then is all one level and hardwood floors once you’re inside. There is a private driveway to the left which can accommodate 2 cars, and there is also plenty of on-street parking.
The front of the house faces east, so the kitchen and living room are bright and sunny first thing in the morning. The neighbor’s gorgeous old oak tree stretches across the front lawn, giving gentle shade throughout the day.
The back of the house has two bedrooms and one full bathroom. The Green Room has a queen-sized bed with 100% cotton bedding and AllerEase pillow casings and mattress cover. There is wool rug, a dresser, desk / work station, folding luggage rack, two small closets, and full-length mirror. Extra pillows and bedding are kept in this room. Wind up alarm clock provided.
The Yellow Room has two twin beds with 100% cotton bedding and AllerEase pillow casings and mattress covers. There is a dresser, bookrack full of children’s books, folding luggage rack, a small closet, and a full-length mirror. Wind up alarm clock provided, as well as retractable light blocking shades, should you need them.
Both bedrooms have two large windows that allow for plenty of light. Windows are double hung and have safety locks. Screens slide up or down, so you can choose how you’d like to let the fresh air in. There are ceiling fans in both rooms, as well as vents for heat/ air conditioning.
In between the two bedrooms is the full bathroom: toilet, sink, and walk-in bathtub/shower combo. All bathroom towels are provided, as well as basic soaps and shampoo.
The walk-in tub is ADA compliant, and is also a fantastic soaking tub! Guests can either sit down to soak or shower, or stand to shower. There is a privacy window in the bathroom that can be opened for fresh air. There is a linen closet in the hallway where towels are kept.
The living room has a very comfortable cotton/wool futon couch that can be folded down to accommodate 2 people for sleeping. (Bedding for the futon is kept in the hall linen closet as well.)
There is a big, comfy papasan chair, as well as two more side chairs for seating. A shelf unit full of books and games is for guests to enjoy, and a standing armoire houses the TV, Roku, and DVD player and DVDs. There is a small coat closet to hang personal items; the ironing board, iron, vacuum cleaner, broom, swiffer, cleaning supplies, extra dining chair, step stool, rubber shoe mat, and portable play pen are also located here. Next to the front door is a covered bench, perfect for sitting down to put on shoes. (*please note: we kindly ask that you remove shoes while in the house.)
Guests will enjoy the spacious kitchen, fully stocked with all the dishes and gadgets you will need for making meals during your stay. Appliances include a full-sized refrigerator and freezer, dishwasher, oven, microwave, food processor, coffee maker, French press, electric kettle, toaster, hand mixer, and immersion blender. The refrigerator has a filtered, chilled water dispenser (no ice dispenser), and there is also a Brita pitcher for room temp filtered water.
The in-kitchen eating area fits 4 people very comfortably; there are two extra chairs in the house to accommodate 6 total.
There is a door in the kitchen that leads to the basement that will remain locked.
If you choose to, please feel free to walk down the driveway and venture through the old metal gate into the lovely and spacious back yard. Here guests will find a small brick patio with a table and 4 chairs, delightfully shaded under the natural pergola of a big red maple. Or, on the other side of the tree, sunbathe while relaxing in one of two red Adirondack chairs. Follow the brick path past the private garage to the raised garden beds and enjoy munching on garden vegetables, herbs, strawberries, and raspberries. Perennial flower beds attract butterflies and bees, while the huge elderberry bush makes for fantastic bird watching.
We look forward to welcoming you to our place!
