I'm sorry to hear you were disappointed with your stay Malcolm. Your booking request arrived on the 19th August for a one night stay on the 22nd, and unfortunately with short notice we didn't have any spa treatment times available during the brief time you were here. Our team did keep in touch with you to see if a cancellation would come up, which it unfortunately didn't. We did give you a free room upgrade, but none of our rooms have air-con, which is difficult to retro-fit in a older country house hotel such as ours.

I'm so sorry to hear of your disappointment with the service you received, that is not how we like to do things here and our feedback on service and welcome is that it is usually excellent. We appreciate that not everyone wants a four course meal, and there is the choice of 2 courses from the main restaurant menu available every evening, which can be taken in the bar seating area, one of our cosy lounges or in the conservatory. We strive to make every guest feel special, especially if they are here for a special occasion, and can only apologise that the service you received on this visit fell short. Budock Vean has been owned and managed by the same family for over 30 years.

In order to minimise staff going into guest rooms during the current Covid situation, we made the decision to only carry out housekeeping on the third day of stay, but that fresh towels, toiletries and drinks can be topped up daily with a quick request to housekeeping or reception, and that message should have been communicated to you before arrival.
